127: Chapter 127 The Fate of the Mutant Serpent Beast

Before becoming a Wandering Beastman, Zhu Xiu had always been a solitary beast.

No tribe, no sense of belonging—he survived alone in the perilous wilderness.

If not for his ability to transform into a human and retain human consciousness, he would have been no different from those blood-drinking wild beasts.

Occasionally, he would transform and sneak into a Large Tribe to watch the scenes of Males and Females undergoing Pairing Ceremonies; he never dared to imagine he would one day have such a life.

Until he met her in the Wandering Beast City.

The bonds he once held in utter contempt had now become his most cherished treasures.

"Why do you have that expression?" Bai Wanwan tilted her head, a sly smile playing at the corners of her mouth.

Zhu Xiu snapped out of his reverie, his dark hair shimmering under the sunlight. "I just didn't expect it to happen so fast."

He carefully wrapped his arms around her waist and abdomen, where their bloodline was currently gestating.

Bai Wanwan let out a lazy yawn and snuggled into his arms like a satiated cat.

Zhu Xiu tightened his arms, enveloping her entirely in his scent, as if doing so could keep her perfectly safe.

She slept until the world went dark; Bai Wanwan was eventually awakened by an enticing aroma.

She struggled to sit up and found that the shadows of the sun were already slanting outside the window.

Wrapping herself in a beast skin robe, she walked to the door and saw Xin Feng busy at the stove, the golden sunlight casting a gentle silhouette around him.

"You're awake?" Xin Feng turned his head, his eyes brimming with a smile.

He picked up a warm, damp cloth and stepped forward, gently wiping her sleep-fogged face.

Bai Wanwan tilted her face up, letting him do as he pleased, her face showing only a content and comfortable smile.

Once she finished washing up, Xin Feng had her sit and rest while he went back to frying meat.

That focused side-profile made her heart feel warm and fuzzy.

Whose family produced such a perfect, devoted husband?

Oh, he's hers!

She must have done many, many good deeds in a past she didn't know about to have transmigrated here and met him and Zhu Xiu.

Therefore, she couldn't be too greedy, let alone ungrateful; since they were so good to her, she had to return their kindness.

While Xin Feng was busy plating the meat, she slipped away to check on those precious potatoes.

Finally, tender sprouts had broken through the soil, swaying gently in the wind.

Bai Wanwan was pleasantly surprised and reached out to touch the tiny green sprouts.

"You stare at them every day; what exactly are you looking at?" Xin Feng asked curiously.

"Watching them sprout. Once they sprout, they can be planted in the ground, and after they mature, they can be made into all sorts of delicacies—French fries! Hash browns! Langya potatoes..." Crucially, it didn't cost any points and could satisfy her cravings.

She gestured excitedly, her eyes dark and bright.

If she kept talking, she felt her drool would start dripping all over the floor.

She had zero planting experience and was relying entirely on knowledge learned from watching videos, hoping it would be useful.

When the time came, she would have another ingredient; there were so many delicious foods that could be made with potatoes...

As the days passed, Shi Hua would come by every day to find Bai Wanwan to sunbathe and take walks together.

Bai Wanwan shared the dried sweet potatoes she had made with her, and the two of them chewed while slowly finishing their stroll.

"So sweet, this is delicious!"

Shi Hua felt so happy; Sister Wanwan always gave her things she had never seen before but were incredibly tasty.

As they were talking, they saw Zhuo Ling walking past with a rather poor expression.

If they had met before, Zhuo Ling would definitely have come over to say a few words to them.

But today, Zhuo Ling walked straight past. Even though there was a significant distance between them, Bai Wanwan could tell at a glance that Zhuo Ling was in a very bad mood.

Her gossip instincts immediately began to stir.

She tilted her chin toward Zhuo Ling's direction and asked Shi Hua, "Has anything happened lately?"

Shi Hua lowered her voice and said, "I went to get water yesterday and overheard Mu Yun saying that the Golden Lion's Young Clan Leader didn't come this year. Zhuo Ling might be angry because of that."

"Does that Young Clan Leader come every year? If he likes Zhuo Ling, why doesn't he undergo a Pairing Ceremony with her?"

She popped a piece of dried sweet potato into her mouth, chewing as she continued to gossip with Shi Hua.

Shi Hua was originally a marginal Female and only heard bits and pieces occasionally; there were many things she wasn't clear about.

She shook her head. "I don't know. I just know he came last year."

"Then you've seen him?" Bai Wanwan blinked her eyes, filled with curiosity.

"I saw him."

"Is he handsome?"

Shi Hua nodded repeatedly. "Handsome, exceptionally handsome. I've never seen such a handsome Male before."

At this point, Shi Hua added another sentence, "But I think your two Beast Husbands and that Male named Yan Lie are also handsome, though they are all handsome in different ways."

Bai Wanwan understood Shi Hua; after all, this was the Beast World, and this level of description was probably already about to fry her brain.

Handsome men... different looks, different temperaments, naturally they would appear different.

The only commonality was that they were all pleasing to the eye.

Later, Bai Wanwan and Shi Hua encountered Zhuo Ling a few more times.

Zhuo Ling's aura seemed to get lower and lower; sometimes she could be seen from afar without even a fake smile on her face.

She no longer ran over to Bai Wanwan to pretend to be on good terms with her.

Bai Wanwan simply lived her leisurely life with her two Beast Husbands.

She checked the potatoes once a day as usual, and she hadn't expected them to sprout so quickly.

"Xin Feng, look! The potatoes have sprouted."

Xin Feng walked over and looked at the greening potato pieces growing some tender sprouts. "Tell me what needs to be done, and I'll do it."

"No need for you to do it. I have nothing to do sitting around every day anyway; it's good to get some activity."

She picked up the stone knife and quickly cut the potatoes into chunks.

Once all the sprouted potatoes were cut, she excitedly ran out of the Stone House and began squatting on the ground by the door to dig holes.

The soil in the Beast World was exceptionally fertile. She cleared away the weeds and dug holes...

Fearing she would get tired, Xin Feng stayed by her side to help the whole time.

Perhaps because she had been squatting for too long, her belly felt squeezed, and Bai Wanwan let out a pained "Ouch."

Xin Feng immediately dropped the digging tool in his hand and stepped forward quickly to support her.

"You're carrying cubs now; you can't overexert yourself."

When she was pregnant before, it was like she was carrying Nezha—she could toss and turn however she wanted. Who knew this pregnancy would be so fragile.

She didn't dare act recklessly anymore and allowed Xin Feng to help her over to the Stone Stool to sit down.

Xin Feng's expression still hadn't relaxed. "Does it still hurt?"

Bai Wanwan took a light breath; it still felt a bit painful.

It wasn't extremely intense, just an occasional sharp pain like a cramp.

"Much better. Don't mind me; go ahead and plant the rest of the potatoes first."

"Is it really okay?"

To reassure him, Bai Wanwan even gave him a crinkle-eyed smile.

Only then did Xin Feng feel relieved enough to turn back and plant the potatoes.

Just then, her stomach cramped again. She let out a soft hiss. "peanut, peanut, come out quickly."

"What is it, Host?"

"Quickly check me over; why has my stomach suddenly started hurting?"

"Host, please wait a moment."

Bai Wanwan inhaled sharply to overcome the intensifying pain.

After a short while, peanut's voice came through. "Host, things aren't looking good. You are carrying two Mutated Serpent Beasts, and they are going to devour each other."

"What?"

She thought of what Zhu Xiu had told her; back then, he had also devoured the other Snake Cubs...

Could this be the fate of Mutated Serpent Beasts?

No! She couldn't let her own cubs devour each other.

But her stomach was failing her, growing more and more painful.
