309: Chapter 309 Preparing to Self-Destruct

Chapter 39: Preparing for Self-Detonation

The cold wind was like a knife, cutting painfully against one's face.

Before coming out, Bai Wanwan had stuck many heat pads on her body; she didn't want to catch a cold at a time like this and hold everyone back.

She was also wearing the down jacket she had exchanged for last year.

But even so, it still couldn't block out the bone-chilling cold.

The white mist she breathed out condensed into frost in the air, and a layer of fine ice crystals hung from her eyelashes.

Zhu Xiu immediately coiled his snake tail around her and activated his Innate Ability; only then did the chill on her body suddenly recede.

Before leaving, Bai Wanwan had asked Shi Hua and her two Beast Husbands to help look after the Cubs.

The three Males then took her toward the Tribe's main gate.

Snowflakes continued to fall rustling from the sky.

Bai Wanwan reached out to stroke Zhu Xiu's back, suddenly remembering something. "Zhu Xiu, don't snakes all hibernate? Why don't you?"

During the last Snow Season in Wandering Beast City, the climate there wasn't extremely cold, so it was understandable that Zhu Xiu hadn't hibernated.

But now, with the cold wind raging and even every breath carrying ice shards, he still moved as usual.

The King Cobra's massive head turned, his reddish eyes looking at her: "I am a Mutated Serpent Beast; I can use my Innate Ability to resist the hibernating instinct. But if I'm injured or my Innate Ability is heavily depleted... I will be forced into a deep sleep."

"So that's how it is..." Innate Ability really was a good thing.

She had only asked in passing, and her attention was soon drawn away by the increasingly clear beast roars.

The sounds made by the Golden Lions were sometimes shrill and sometimes furious. Bai Wanwan's heart sank, and she lost the mood to speak.

Zhu Xiu was very fast; in the blink of an eye, they arrived at the Tribe's main gate.

Even though she was mentally prepared, seeing the scene before her eyes still made Bai Wanwan's breathing tighten.

The Snowy Ground was dyed dark red, with the corpses of Golden Lions and Black Bears lying scattered everywhere, some even torn and incomplete.

The cold wind swept the smell of blood toward her face...

"Nonsense! How could you bring a Female out? A Female will die if she catches a chill. Go back quickly!"

Elder was keeping a close eye on the battlefield when he suddenly noticed Bai Wanwan's appearance and immediately urged her to stop in an anxious voice.

Before the Beast Husbands could speak, Bai Wanwan explained to the elderly beastman: "Don't worry, I'm not cold. I'll just take a look at the situation and go back soon."

Jin Cang, who had regained his life after applying the Ointment, was leaning weakly against the Stone Bed. Hearing Bai Wanwan's voice, he immediately called out to Jin Yue, "Help me out to take a look."

Jin Yue's face was full of anxiety. "Clan Leader, your injuries are very serious. Even the Clan Witch said..."

Jin Cang smiled and waved his hand at him. "I'm fine now. Will you help me, or shall I walk by myself?"

Jin Yue had no choice but to step forward and support him, still trying to persuade him stubbornly: "Uncle Witch is watching outside; you should focus on recovering first..."

Jin Cang clearly felt that his injuries were recovering rapidly; this time, the wounds wouldn't take his life.

After walking a few steps with Jin Yue's support, he was certain he hadn't misheard earlier—Bai Wanwan really was standing not far outside the Stone House.

"Wan Wan?"

Bai Wanwan turned her head upon hearing Clan Leader Jin Cang's voice.

Seeing the Clan Leader's pale face and weak appearance, she realized that Jin Yi's earlier rush to get the Ointment was for Clan Leader Jin Cang.

"Clan Leader, you're injured? Is it serious?"

Bai Wanwan stepped toward him and naturally supported his hand.

Seeing the concern in her eyes, Jin Cang shook his head with relief. "It's nothing. Why did you come out? It's dangerous here, and the cold could take half your life. Quickly, have your Beast Husbands take you back."

Just as Bai Wanwan was about to answer, she heard Elder shout urgently: "Quickly! The Bear Clan is besieging the Young Clan Leader again. You few, hurry and save the Young Clan Leader!"

Jin Cang's expression changed, and he hurried forward.

Bai Wanwan supported him as they followed to the Tribe's main gate.

In the distance, Jin Yi's figure was particularly striking.

The Male who had just been asking her for Ointment had now rushed to the front lines.

His golden mane was stained with blood; although his movements were still swift, he was clearly showing signs of fatigue.

More than a dozen Bear Clan Beastmen were attacking him simultaneously.

Bai Wanwan's heart suddenly tightened. At the thought that Jin Yi might be killed by these Black Bears, a surge of intense anger suddenly rose in her chest.

Zhu Xiu looked at her face, which didn't look right, and guessed something.

But in the end, he still spoke up: "Don't worry, I'll go help him."

Bai Wanwan abruptly withdrew her gaze and turned to look at him. "But..."

With tens of thousands of beastmen from the Black Bear Tribe attacking, it would be just as dangerous for Zhu Xiu to go out.

"Don't worry, at least I can keep my life."

After saying that, he didn't delay and turned to Yan Lie and Xin Feng: "Watch over Wan Wan. If anything uncontrollable happens, take Wan Wan and leave immediately. Don't worry about me."

Xin Feng looked at him and nodded: "Be careful."

Yan Lie also silently moved two steps closer to Bai Wanwan, taking a protective stance.

Finally, he gave Bai Wanwan a deep look. "I'll be back soon."

"Mhm, I'll wait for you!"

Jin Yi panted heavily, his sharp claws tearing open a Bear Clan beastman's throat, warm blood splashing onto his face.

His claws tore through one enemy after another, but there were simply too many of them...

The Bear Clan had come prepared this time, and the number of Yellow-Tier Males far exceeded expectations.

If this continued, the Golden Lion Clan's defensive line would be breached sooner or later.

Beside him, another Clan Member fell, his throat bitten through by a Bear Clan beastman, blood gushing out.

Jin Yi's eyes felt as if they were bursting, his chest churning with rage and despair.

He couldn't lose... he absolutely couldn't lose!

He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, his gaze was filled with determination.

Looking at the High-Ranked Males of the Bear Clan besieging him, a look of resolve appeared in his eyes.

Only by weakening the Bear Clan's strength as much as possible would the Golden Lion Clan have a future.

More than a dozen Yellow-Tier Males were getting closer and closer to him...

Jin Yi began to mobilize all his Innate Ability, energy gathering frantically within his body, as he prepared for self-detonation.

He wanted to take down enough of the Bear Clan's elites to give the Tribe a chance to catch its breath!

The Bear Clan Beastmen's attacks followed, but they were swatted away by a snake tail.

"Jin Yi!"

Just at the moment the energy was about to explode, Jin Yi saw a dark figure appear before him.

Zhu Xiu's snake tail pressed down on his shoulder, forcibly interrupting the flow of his Innate Ability, his voice cold: "Don't do something stupid."

The energy storm in Jin Yi's eyes gradually dissipated. "What are you doing here? This is a grudge between our Golden Lion Clan and the Bear Clan; there's no need for you to get involved. Go back to Bai Wanwan. If... if the Golden Lion Clan is overrun, you must take her away immediately."

Zhu Xiu's gaze swept over him. "I will protect her well."

As he spoke, he swept away two more High-Ranked Males who were closing in to attack.

The Yellow-Tier Black Bears looked at the King Cobra in disbelief.

They all had Yellow-Tier Talents, yet the Innate Ability they deployed didn't seem to work at all.

"The Bear Clan is using the excuse that you killed their Young Clan Leader to launch an attack, but I was the one who killed him. I am responsible for this."

Those who caught up before 9 AM can check the previous two chapters. Last night, I indeed didn't think it through and overlooked some details, leading to issues with the characterization. I'm also very grateful to the friends who gave suggestions. If anyone has any opinions, feel free to leave a message. I will consider them comprehensively and fix any issues promptly. Thank you, everyone~
