94: Chapter 94 Don't blame me if you wipe out the entire clan
Bai Wanwan searched the Stone House back and forth once, then quickly looked up to ask Xin Feng beside her, 'Why is there one Cub missing?'
For the past few days, Zhu Xiu and Xin Feng had been taking turns handling the prey.
But most of the time, Zhu Xiu went out hunting while Xin Feng stayed home to process it.
If they were going to live in the Black Dog Tribe long-term, their food reserves were still far from sufficient.
Hearing this, Xin Feng, who was busy, immediately stood up and joined the search.
Bai Wanwan practically turned the house upside down but still couldn't find the remaining Cub.
'Xin Feng, the Cub is gone!'
Xin Feng's brow furrowed tightly, yet he still spoke to soothe her, 'Don't worry, I'll go look. The Cub definitely couldn't have run out of the Tribe. As long as it's within the Tribe, it shouldn't be too dangerous.'
As he spoke, he placed the other four Cubs into a Basket and slung it on his back. 'Wait for me at home, I'll be back soon.'
Xin Feng left quickly. Anxious, Bai Wanwan searched inside and outside the house again but still found nothing.
She waited by the entrance for a while, her heart feeling as if scratched by a cat, utterly unable to calm down.
After thinking for a moment, she also headed in another direction of the Tribe to search.
She walked while calling out, hoping the Cub would hear her voice and emerge from somewhere.
But she searched for quite a while, moving far from their dwelling, and still saw no sign of the Cub.
Could the Cub have run this far?
Many Beastmen along the roadside were eyeing her, pointing and whispering. Bai Wanwan strode straight up to them and asked, 'Have you seen a Wolf Cub? Silver, with black markings on its head.'
'N-no... haven't seen it.'
She had no choice but to continue searching. As she passed the mouth of an alley, she thought she heard the whimpering cry of a Cub.
She stopped to listen carefully, but what she heard more clearly seemed to be the clamor of Females.
She immediately changed direction and walked into the alley.
The houses in the Black Dog Tribe were arranged relatively neatly, with even the small alleys laid out in a grid pattern.
The further in she went, the clearer the noise from the Females became, while the Cub's sounds grew indistinct.
Worried, her steps quickened.
After walking several dozen meters and turning right, she saw a group of Females gathered in a circle.
The Cub's cries came from within.
Bai Wanwan rushed over, pushing aside the Females in front.
'What are you doing?'
Ignoring their shouts and curses, Bai Wanwan pushed past one Female after another until she finally saw her Cub.
It was being held in the arms of a Female, snarling at the surrounding Females.
Bai Wanwan's appearance made the Cub leap excitedly. It stopped its fierce snarls, turning them into pitiful whimpers.
Bai Wanwan walked over in a few strides, helping the Female who had fallen to the ground, covered in injuries, to her feet, while simultaneously taking the Cub from her arms into her own.
Smelling its Mother's scent, the Cub, as if realizing it had caused trouble, buried its head in her chest, refusing to look up.
Bai Wanwan was both angry and amused by its cowering appearance. She tapped its head with her finger before turning to question the Female in front of her.
'What happened?'
The Female looked at her, then nervously glanced at the group of Females behind Bai Wanwan.
'Don't worry about it. Take the Cub and leave quickly.'
Noticing the fear in her eyes, Bai Wanwan looked back at the dozen or so Females behind her.
They all looked rough and sturdy, several with faces full of harsh, mean features.
'Who are you?' A Female wearing earth-yellow beast skin asked, her eyes narrowed by fat, straining to glare at Bai Wanwan.
Bai Wanwan completely ignored her, continuing to ask, 'Did they try to hurt my Cub? Did you protect it?'
Shi Hua shook her head, 'I found the Cub on the road and ran into them. They're just targeting me.'
Bai Wanwan looked at her. She could have easily gone along with Bai Wanwan's version to earn a favor. This Female was truly honest.
'Thank you anyway. If not for you, who knows where this little rascal would have run off to.'
'Shi Hua, get over here!'
The slit-eyed Female pointed a finger at Shi Hua while glaring fiercely at Bai Wanwan.
The warning and threat were unmistakable.
Shi Hua pressed her lips together and whispered to Bai Wanwan, 'You should leave. Otherwise, they'll bully you too.'
If this Little Female named Shi Hua hadn't saved her Cub, Bai Wanwan might not have gotten involved or stepped into this messy situation.
'Was yesterday's candied fruit tasty?'
Shi Hua was stunned for a moment, staring at her blankly.
Bai Wanwan smiled at her, 'If you liked it, I'll make more for you in a couple of days.'
Since childhood, because of her low fertility and unattractive looks, and with her Father Beast and Mother gone early, Shi Hua had been bullied by Females for as long as she could remember.
She'd heard that once she came of age and was sent to the Female Cave, she would be constantly bullied by Males too.
She was used to being bullied, thinking she could just endure it and it would pass.
Then, she heard the voice of the Female shielding her, 'I still have things to say to Shi Hua. You all should leave now.'
The dozen or so Females stared at Bai Wanwan, faces full of disbelief.
'She's telling us to leave?'
'Outsider Female, do you know who she is? If you cross her, you won't be able to stay in the Black Dog Tribe.'
Bai Wanwan stroked the Cub's head and blinked, 'Who is she?'
'Her family is the largest clan in our Tribe. If you offend her, you offend half the Beastmen in the Black Dog Tribe.'
That connection was indeed quite formidable.
Bai Wanwan nodded. The slit-eyed Female of significant background thought she was backing down and snorted, 'Get lost now. If you associate with Shi Hua, I'll deal with you too.'
'Then, may I ask, what is the highest rank among the most powerful Males in your Tribe?'
The slit-eyed Female proudly lifted her chin, 'Our family has eight of the top Green Tier powerhouses in the entire Black Dog Tribe!'
Bai Wanwan smiled faintly, 'The strongest Talent is Green Tier?'
'Yes! You outsider Female, are you done? Get lost!' The slit-eyed Female had lost her patience.
Shi Hua, afraid of getting her involved, tugged at her beast skin, 'You should take the Cub and go. They'll just hit me a couple of times to vent, then it'll be fine. I won't be seriously hurt.'
Bai Wanwan patted her hand, signaling her not to rush.
Then she said leisurely to the dozen or so Females in front of her, 'Do you know who I am?'
The slit-eyed Female roared, 'Who cares who you are!'
'You'd better care! Because both my Beast Husbands have Yellow-Tier Talent...'
Her dear Beast Husbands, there's no problem using them to boost her prestige, right?
The slit-eyed Female absolutely refused to believe it, 'Yellow-Tier? Who are you trying to fool? The top Talent in our Black Dog Tribe is Green Tier.'
'You said it yourself, the top in your Black Dog Tribe is Green Tier. We're not from the Black Dog Tribe.'
After saying this, Bai Wanwan glanced sideways at Shi Hua, 'Come with me.'
Holding the Cub, she swaggered towards them.
The slit-eyed Female didn't believe it at all, shouting to the other Females, 'I don't believe her Beast Husbands have Yellow-Tier Talent. Stop her!'
As the Females moved to grab her, Bai Wanwan pointed a finger at them.
'Think carefully before you move! My Beast Husbands have terrible tempers. If anyone lays a hand on me, don't blame me if your entire clan gets wiped out!'
