Chapter 418: Is This the Right Thing To Do?
Xin Feng looked at the nearly grown Cub held in the Female's arms, sighing softly, his gaze impossibly gentle.
The little Wolf Cub was curled up in Bai Wanwan's embrace, breathing evenly. The wounds on its body had already scabbed over, though it would occasionally twitch an ear uneasily in its sleep.
The Female hummed a strange but pleasant lullaby, gently stroking the Cub's fur with her fingers, occasionally lowering her head to kiss its forehead.
Xin Feng lifted the beast skin blanket and lay down silently beside them.
The Stone Bed wasn't very wide, but he could always find the most suitable spot.
One that wouldn't crowd the Cub, yet allowed him to pull the Female into his embrace.
The night wind seeped in through the cracks in the stone window, carrying the damp scent unique to the forest.
Bai Wanwan leaned into his arms, her voice soft with drowsiness: "Why aren't you sleeping yet?"
"I can't sleep. You sleep, don't mind me."
He lowered his head, his nose brushing against the top of her hair. He loved the unique sweet scent she carried, like colorful spring flowers, or sweet summer fruits.
At this moment, he was incomparably happy!
Two years ago, he was still a Useless Beast abandoned by his Tribe, struggling even with hunting.
His likely end was to die alone, curled up in the darkest corner of the Tribe, passing away silently.
Until that day, Wan Wan appeared in his world and dragged him out of his gloomy existence.
And now...
She had become his Female, giving him a warm home and a happy life.
He cherished all of this immensely. If any Beastman tried to destroy it, he would surely risk his life to protect it.
Bai Wanwan was truly exhausted, and didn't hold out for long before her eyelids started drooping.
In a short while, even breathing could be heard.
Xin Feng's gentle gaze fell upon her face, and his fingers touched it. "Wan Wan, thank you!"
Bai Wanwan was completely unaware, and even turned over, presenting her back to him because she wasn't sleeping comfortably.
Xin Feng chuckled and shook his head, turning sideways to wrap his arm around the Female's waist, then closed his eyes.
He had expected this sleep to be restless, but Bai Wanwan slept soundly until dawn. The Male beside her had already gotten up as usual.
Only she and the Cub, sleeping sprawled out beside her, remained.
Seeing the Wolf Cub sleeping soundly with its mouth open, its wounds had healed significantly.
After checking him over lightly, she quietly prepared to get off the Stone Bed.
As soon as her feet touched the ground, the Wolf Cub's voice came from behind her, "Mama..."
When Bai Wanwan turned around, the Wolf Cub had transformed into human form and was sitting up on the Stone Bed, rubbing its eyes.
If categorized by human age, the Wolf Cub looked about eight or nine years old.
Its face combined the best features of its parents, already showing uncommon promise at such a young age.
"Good Cub, you're awake. Are you hungry?"
The Wolf Cub rubbed its stomach; it felt like it could devour an entire prey animal right now.
"Hungry, Mama. I'll go find something to eat."
The Wolf Cub hopped off the Stone Bed onto the ground, a completely different beast compared to yesterday.
It was clearly recovering well, and her heart settled.
By the time she finished getting ready, The Cubs were all full and satisfied.
The Beast Husbands hadn't started work today either; they were all waiting for her.
"Are we going today?" Zhu Xiu asked.
"Yes, we're going today. The Wolf Cub has recovered; it's time to settle this score."
Only Yin Ze, who was supposed to be on duty today, was left behind to look after The Cubs. Qiu Rong had already left to handle Tribal affairs.
Bai Wanwan, bringing Zhu Xiu, Yan Lie, Jin Yi, and Xin Feng, along with the still-recovering Wolf Cub, stood before the Stone House of the Tiger Clan Female, A Man.
When the door was pushed open, A Man was sitting on the Stone Stool gnawing on a deer fruit. Looking up, she saw several tall and handsome unfamiliar Males standing outside. Her not-so-pretty face showed an expression of infatuation. "You... are you here for me?"
Bai Wanwan looked at her foolish expression and walked out from behind the Beast Husbands step by step.
"Yes, we are here for you."
When A Man saw Bai Wanwan, her expression changed, and she blurted out subconsciously, "Who are you? Why are you with them?"
Any one of these Males could cause Females to fight over them. Could it be that they were all this Female's Beast Husbands?
Bai Wanwan looked at her coldly, her voice calm but carrying a chill: "Two days ago, you should know exactly what your Beast Husband and Cubs did to my Cub, right?"
This statement made A Man stop her wild thoughts. "You are that Cub's Mother?"
"Yes."
The Female named A Man wasn't scared at all; instead, she lifted her chin and forced a casual laugh: "It was just roughhousing between Cubs. If your Cub can't handle it, whose fault is that?"
"Roughhousing?" Zhu Xiu's voice turned cold, his crimson vertical pupils revealing murderous intent. "Using Maman Grass against a Cub—that's roughhousing?"
Yan Lie roared: "Why don't you call your Cubs out here and let them 'roughhouse' again?"
A Man's expression shifted slightly, and she quickly made an excuse: "The Cubs went out to play; they aren't home!"
Bai Wanwan stared at her for two seconds, then suddenly smiled: "Fine."
She turned around and left with her Beast Husbands and the Wolf Cub.
A Man pursed her lips and muttered under her breath: "Just some Outsider Beastmen, daring to cause trouble in the Tiger Clan..."
But what she didn't expect was that Bai Wanwan had no intention of letting the matter drop.
Zhu Xiu's tracking ability was very strong.
Soon, they found those few playing Cubs in the bushes at the edge of the Tribe.
They were proudly showing off about snatching the prey from the Wolf Cub, completely unaware of the approaching danger.
Bai Wanwan squatted down and gently stroked her Wolf Cub's head: "Cub, go."
The Wolf Cub looked at those Cubs who were much smaller than him and hesitated slightly.
He grew up in a loving family. Although his younger siblings were mischievous, they never hurt each other.
When he first saw them, he thought of his own younger siblings and even considered giving them the prey.
Bai Wanwan saw through his hesitation and said softly: "Kindness must be used in the right place. Beastmen who harm you, no matter how young, should not be spared. Otherwise, Beastmen will use your kindness to harm you again and again in the future."
Her Cub could be benevolent, but this kind of benevolence should only be shown to family and good friends, not used on those who hurt him.
The Wolf Cub's ears twitched, and the scene from that day flashed in his mind.
He was immobilized, able only to whimper and beg for mercy, but those young Beasts became more and more excited, tearing at his fur and even deliberately biting his paws...
Mother is right. They are not his younger siblings; they are bad Beast Cubs!
The sharpness in the Wolf Cub's eyes gradually appeared. A low whimper escaped his throat, and then he lunged out fiercely!
He didn't aim for a fatal bite, but every nip landed exactly where he had been bitten.
The Tiger Cubs screamed in terror, trying to flee, but they were paralyzed by the pressure emanating from Zhu Xiu.
After biting all of them, the Wolf Cub ran back to Bai Wanwan's side, "Mother, is what I did right?"
