301: Chapter 301 Intelligence was crushed
Chapter 31: Intelligence Crushed
Zhu Xiu's reaction was very obvious. Jin Yi noticed it, his fingers curling slightly.
Zhu Xiu was overthinking. He had no intention of competing for favor with them.
"By the Clan Leader's order, the items have been delivered. I'll take my leave first."
After speaking, he didn't look at Zhu Xiu or Bai Wanwan beside him again, turning and leaving.
The two accompanying Males immediately followed.
After the people disappeared outside the Stone House, Zhu Xiu turned his head to look at Bai Wanwan. "Still looking?"
Bai Wanwan grabbed his arm, her lips curving into a smile. "Then I'll look at you!"
She had thought provoking the jealousy king would require a lot of placating.
Unexpectedly, today Zhu Xiu didn't seem that angry.
He raised his hand to stroke her hairline. "If you want to take him as a Beast Husband, I won't stop you."
Bai Wanwan's heart trembled. Her first reaction wasn't relief at all.
But a strange feeling.
Was Zhu Xiu trying to trick her?
If she really admitted it, this Male would probably immediately demand repayment from her.
"No rush. There are still a few months. Think about it slowly."
After helping her sit down, Zhu Xiu said, "I'll go handle the prey. You play with The Cubs for a while first."
Zhu Xiu was calm from start to finish. Except when facing Jin Yi, he showed a bit of edge, but it was still different from before.
While feeling strange in her heart, she couldn't help but ask herself.
Did she like Jin Yi?
Jin Yi was outstanding in every aspect, especially during the beast tide when they had spent several days together day and night.
Perhaps she did like Jin Yi a little. Otherwise, she wouldn't have impulsively teased him in the cellar earlier.
But it wasn't to the extent of liking him so much that she absolutely had to have him.
At least for now, if Zhu Xiu, Xin Feng, and Yan Lie were unwilling to accept it, she wouldn't go against them and insist on making Jin Yi a Beast Husband.
Moreover... she remembered the biggest reason Jin Yi didn't have a Pairing Ceremony with Zhuo Ling was that Jin Yi didn't want to share a Female with other Males.
So... even if they had mutual feelings, they didn't necessarily have to be together.
This matter wasn't enough to trouble her. After these thoughts flashed through her mind, she was drawn by the Wolf Cub gently nibbling on her finger.
Zhu Xiu had just walked out of the room when he saw Xin Feng standing to the side.
He glanced over. "Were you just testing Wan Wan to see if she likes the Young Clan Leader?"
Zhu Xiu's crimson eyes flickered for a moment. "It wasn't a test."
"Hmm?"
Compared to Yan Lie, Xin Feng had known Zhu Xiu longer.
They had shared hardships and understood Zhu Xiu's temperament well.
Not a single word of what was said earlier sounded like something Zhu Xiu would say.
Zhu Xiu walked to the stove, picked up a stone cup, took a sip of water, and then slowly turned back.
"I've been thinking about something recently. Should I cling to my selfish desire for exclusivity, which might put Wan Wan in danger and risk losing her in the future, or..."
The stone cup landed heavily on the stove. "...accept trustworthy strong individuals to protect her."
"So... you've thought it through?" A hint of dark light also appeared in Xin Feng's gentle eyes.
"Yes, I've thought it through."
Zhu Xiu took a light breath. "Wan Wan holds too many secrets. If they were exposed, what we'd face would be the encirclement and suppression of countless Super Tribes."
In the damp air, the two Males silently looked at each other, seeing the same struggle and resolve in each other's eyes.
The continuous rain had been falling for seven full days.
The rain curtain outside the cave was like a gray curtain, enveloping the entire Tribe in damp silence.
The Stone House walls exuded fine beads of water. The bedding Bai Wanwan sewed always carried an inescapable dampness.
For the umpteenth time, she thought about exchanging for a Modern Times heater, but ultimately only lit the firewood.
"Have the Bear Clan Beastmen gone mad?" Yan Lie shook the water droplets from his hair, the motion of skinning the rabbit seeming like an outlet for frustration. "Lying in ambush in the forest in this weather."
The bone needle in Bai Wanwan's hand paused.
Shi Hua diligently sewed a leather skirt, lowering her voice to say to Bai Wanwan, "Aren't they afraid of starving during the Snow Season?"
Bai Wanwan also frowned. "Yeah, don't the Bear Clan Beastmen experience the Snow Season?"
Yan Lie used a claw to peel off the rabbit skin. "The Bear Clan is cold-resistant. They can still go out hunting during the Snow Season."
Shi Hua whispered, "Sister, I always feel this Snow Season won't be peaceful."
Bai Wanwan raised her hand and patted the back of Shi Hua's hand. "Don't overthink it. If trouble really comes, we'll find a way then."
Bai Wanwan actually harbored similar hidden worries in her heart.
Her thinking was more straightforward. If the Bear Clan's goal was to destroy the Golden Lion Tribe, then she would also do her utmost to help Clan Leader Jin Cang deal with the Bear Clan.
But if they couldn't win, she still had a way out. At worst, she could take her Beast Husbands, The Cubs, and Shi Hua's family and leave the Golden Lion Tribe.
After working for a while, Shi Hua was called away by her Beast Husband.
After Bai Wanwan finished the last few stitches, she saw her Beast Husbands had also completed their tasks for the day.
During the Rainy Season and Snow Season, they had to stay cooped up at home.
They couldn't just stare at each other like this every day. They needed to find something to do.
She rummaged through her panel and actually found something good.
Mahjong!
This thing was simply perfect for passing the time.
Bai Wanwan stood up enthusiastically. "Zhu Xiu, Xin Feng, Yan Lie, come with me for a moment."
Yan Lie was the most eager. As soon as Bai Wanwan called, he immediately trotted in after her.
Zhu Xiu and Xin Feng entered side by side.
Before they could speak, they saw Bai Wanwan setting up a table with some strange "stones" on it?
"Staying cooped up at home every day with nothing to do, come over and play cards with me."
"Play cards?"
"Yes, Mahjong." The Mahjong tiles slipped through her fingers, making crisp clinking sounds. "It's a game from my hometown for passing the time. It's really fun."
Zhu Xiu sat down at the table, picked up a "Eight of Characters" tile, and ran his fingertip over the grooves.
"A game from your hometown?" His tone clearly held interest.
All three Males wanted to learn more about her.
Yan Lie picked up the Mahjong tiles and stacked them high. "How do you play this?"
"I'll explain the rules in a moment. Xin Feng, sit down first."
Xin Feng complied readily, listening as Bai Wanwan explained the rules word by word.
"Do you understand? It's a bit complicated. Let me explain it again."
"No need, Wan Wan. We understood."
Yan Lie immediately recited them back to her.
Bai Wanwan was astonished. Besides having strong Innate Abilities, were Males also this quick-witted?
"Zhu Xiu, Xin Feng, do you understand?"
Xin Feng smiled. "Yes, but I'm not sure if my understanding is correct. We can try playing once first."
"Okay, let's play once first. If there's anything you don't understand, I'll explain as we play."
"Mahjong!" Zhu Xiu's expression was natural as he easily won the first game.
Bai Wanwan thought it was beginner's luck. Then Xin Feng won the second round.
In the third round, Yan Lie won again.
Bai Wanwan felt her intelligence was being crushed.
They were clearly beginners, so why couldn't she beat them?
The clatter of Mahjong tiles was particularly crisp in the stone cave.
Xin Feng picked up the "Eight of Circles" tile Yan Lie had discarded, smiling as he said, "Mahjong again!"
