121: Contract
Clarissa had been in Vinodea World for three days.
Bella only accompanied Clarissa for two days; they played a lot and ate a lot.
Then, after leaving Clarissa some Dragon Coins and exchanging contact information, Bella left.
Bored, Clarissa wandered aimlessly through Matilda City, searching for a Dragon Rider that caught her eye.
Clarissa's standards were quite high, and simply searching like this made her chances seem slim.
She could also wait for some "interested parties" to actively form a contract, but Clarissa still believed in fate, so she simply walked around everywhere, encountering many people, both male and female, who tried to strike up a conversation along the way.
Some people, sensing she was a dragon, would actively ask, and upon learning she was a "dragon," uncontracted "young men and women" expressed their desire to form a contract.
After all, even for many who became Dragon Riders, contracting a dragon was not a simple matter.
They either "accidentally" met humanoid dragons or went out to find "wild dragons."
Except for those of the "Dragon Race," most people were like this.
And for the dragons they found, as long as they could be contracted, they didn't care what kind of dragon it was or how old it was.
Even a juvenile dragon was acceptable to most people for a contract.
There was a huge difference between having a contracted dragon and not having one.
Clarissa intended to tour the entire city.
In such a large city, Clarissa walked for a day and then arrived at a place distinctly different from the rest of the city: the edge of the slum.
She heard that this area was entirely populated by the lowest of the low in society.
Clarissa was very curious about what a slum was like, because in the Grosster Empire, she had never seen such a thing.
While exploring the slum here, Clarissa witnessed many dark things.
She also saw many people giving her hungry looks, but due to Clarissa's appearance, which was clearly out of place in the slum, no one dared to do anything.
"Is this the darkness beneath the light? All darkness converges here..." Clarissa felt that this place gave her a sense of filth and darkness, and the people here seemed to have twisted souls.
The things she had witnessed along the way, many of which seemed normal or even innocent on the surface, Clarissa had an intuition about the "darkness" hidden behind them.
Just then, she heard faint sounds coming from an alley.
Curiously, she turned the corner and walked over.
She saw three older boys assaulting a girl.
...
"This is truly an eye-opener..." Clarissa walked towards the three older boys, her pupils turning into golden vertical slits.
An invisible pressure subtly descended upon the three older boys.
"Kneel!" Clarissa spoke indifferently.
Thud!
The three older boys were directly pressed to the ground by that invisible force, their knees hitting the ground hard, their faces showing extreme pain, but their bodies were unable to move an inch.
Clarissa stood before them, her condescending golden vertical pupils exuding supreme majesty.
After glancing at their pained and fearful eyes, Clarissa felt very bored: "Trash."
Having said that, Clarissa turned and walked towards the girl who was still lying there.
Behind her, the bodies of the three men slowly bent, their heads touching the ground, remaining in that position.
Clarissa came to the girl's side and crouched down.
"It's alright now," Clarissa said.
The girl looked up, and Clarissa saw her eyes, which had already lost their sparkle.
She stared at Clarissa, stunned, and her dull eyes seemed to regain their sparkle because of Clarissa's presence.
...
Ellie felt this world was so dark, her life so bleak.
Perhaps it was better to end it all.
Living... was so tiring...
"It's alright now," a voice penetrated the boundless dark world and echoed in her ears.
Ellie looked up and saw an... angel... Her golden hair was so dazzling... Her eyes were like God's...
"You... are..." Ellie's voice trembled.
Clarissa looked at Ellie, this poor little one.
She asked the system in her mind: If she wanted to take someone away from this world, what would it cost?
After all, Clarissa was traveling here, not residing permanently, so if she left, what about this girl...
"Only source points are required," the system replied.
"Good!" Clarissa didn't ask how much.
Since that was the case, Clarissa decided to take this girl with her; besides, she now wanted to become her contracted dragon.
"Are you willing to become a servant of God?" Clarissa asked. She meant to become a servant of "God" with her, because if she was to take her away, as an apostle of God, then the other party could only become a servant of God, her Dragon Rider.
And Clarissa wouldn't dare find an apostle for her own "God."
So she could only let Ellie become a "servant."
Ellie, however, understood it as the God before her asking if she was willing to become her servant.
"I am willing... God!" Ellie said with a trembling voice, tears glistening in her eyes. She propped herself up, completely disregarding her exposed, bony chest in front of Clarissa.
"Then, let's form a contract!" Clarissa smiled when she saw her agree, and extended her hand to Ellie.
Ellie tremblingly reached out and placed her hand on Clarissa's.
Clarissa had already learned about the Dragon Rider's contract from Bella, but she didn't trust this world's version, so she spent 1,000,000 source points to have the system "modify" it.
Ding!
Ellie heard a prompt in her ear: [Are you willing to become Clarissa's servant?]
[Note: Once agreed, you will dedicate everything to Clarissa for life.]
"I am willing!" Ellie said earnestly, looking into Clarissa's eyes.
Clarissa didn't know what prompt Ellie heard, as it was her first time using this. Hearing Ellie's words, and then seeing a dark red mark appear on Ellie's chest.
Clarissa felt a very familiar aura from it: the aura of Calamity and Death.
Clearly, this mark originated from her, and also from the "Calamity Wings."
"Put it on," Clarissa said when the contract was formed and the other party officially became her Dragon Rider. She took out a coat and gave it to Ellie, telling her to put it on to cover her exposed body.
"Thank you!" Ellie nodded, took it, and put it on directly: "Master, my name is Ellie!"
"Uh... we just formed a contract, it's not a master-servant relationship. Just call me Clarissa!" Clarissa thought Ellie didn't understand, as by her appearance... she clearly wasn't very "knowledgeable."
Mm... Ellie nodded slightly.
