666: Go to the Holy See

Chapter 666: Heading to the Papacy

Ellie and Doris concluded their years-long shopping trip, and the sun in the sky had already begun to set.

The orange glow of the sunset ignited most of the sky.

While searching for accommodation,

"Hmm~ I wonder what Emily is doing right now~" Doris murmured, as Emily still hadn't sent her any messages.

This made her feel a little uneasy.

"Hmm~ Was she like this before?" Ellie asked curiously.

"I don't know~ Before, she always came back by herself. We usually rest for a while after an adventure, and during that time, we each do our own things or take on small jobs." Doris shook her head slightly and said to Ellie, "So, what exactly Emily does or how long it takes... we wouldn't know.

After all, in the past, just her journey back would take a long time~ Not like this time when we flew back directly."

"Oh, is that so~ How about we go to the Papacy to find her!" Ellie thought for a moment, then "had an idea" and said to Doris.

"Eh?! Can we even get in?" Doris's eyes widened as she asked, "If it's just places where all believers can go, then it's probably useless, right? We won't find Emily."

"We can ask the people from the Papacy! They definitely know Emily." Ellie thought for a moment and said, "Asking won't do us any harm, right?"

"Hmm~ Shall we give it a try?" Doris looked at Ellie; with Ellie there, she felt a little more at ease.

If she had to go by herself, she wouldn't dare at all.

The Papacy, that kind of place, was too solemn and sacred, and it put a lot of pressure on her.

Although the Papacy's reputation was very good, and they constantly talked about the God of Light, trying to persuade you.

They did many good deeds, and their principles were all about truth, goodness, and beauty.

In fact, the reputation of various clergy members of the Papacy had always been excellent.

But that was when they were outside!

Now they were going to the Papacy! The headquarters of the Papacy in the Kingdom of Ferris! Doris was absolutely "terrified."

Although she didn't know what she was afraid of, it might be timidity due to status.

If she accidentally bumped into something... even if she was sold, she wouldn't be able to pay it back!

"Let's go, let's go~" Ellie didn't care about that much; she wasn't afraid at all.

Besides, it wasn't a big deal, and she wasn't going to attack the Papacy.

Just as she said, 'I'm just here to find someone, you can't possibly kill me, can you?'

Ellie and Doris walked towards the Papacy.

Soon, the two of them arrived at the Papacy.

"It really is impressive to see it again!" Doris stood at the entrance of the Papacy's main gate.

It was a massive "city gate." The entire Papacy was constructed from an unknown material of white-gold, perhaps it was white material, but with "Holy Light" attached, so it might have a golden luster.

Secondly, there was a good reason why the Papacy was called a city within a city.

After entering through the main gate, there was a huge plaza. The plaza had multiple paths leading to other places. Directly ahead was an ascent with 999 steps, probably at about a 30-degree angle.

It was known as the "Road to Heaven."

Pious believers would reach the prayer hall through this path.

To the sides were the Clergy Professional Hall... the Tribunal, the Judgment Hall, and so on.

Temple Knights, dressed in white-gold armor, stood guard throughout the Papacy.

And many clergy members in priest robes walked around.

On that "Road to Heaven," numerous people who were clearly believers were walking upwards.

Ellie watched those believers ascend step by step, their actions extremely serious, each step a testament to their piety.

Ellie didn't understand, but she respected it.

After all, for her, gods? Faith?

Are you kidding me! Just on Maple Leaf's side, there were already a bunch of gods.

What's more, gods might not even be able to defeat her!

With the Three Dragon God Power bestowed upon her, it was not an exaggeration to call her a god.

So, it was naturally impossible for Ellie to have any reverence for this so-called faith or anything like that.

Of course, these believers were not "ignorant," after all, in this world, the God of Light certainly existed.

The level of this world was not low; it was level 4! And it was still a world undergoing continuous significant improvement.

"Hey! Hello!" Ellie stopped a clergy member.

"May the God of Light be above! Hello, may I help you?" The man in the priest's robe made a gesture of prayer and then asked Ellie.

Doris, beside her, instinctively and somewhat flusteredly, quickly mimicked the gesture and said, "May the God of Light be above!"

Ellie tilted her head and glanced at Doris, then asked the priest, "Do you know Emily?"

"Emily? And you are?" The priest looked at Ellie and Doris in confusion.

"We are her friends, here to find her," Ellie told the priest.

"Oh~ You're little Emily's friends! She's currently undergoing Holy Light Baptism, so you'll have to come back in a few days to find her," the priest told Ellie.

"Holy Light Baptism? What's that?" Ellie asked curiously.

"This is a special way for us clergy members to improve, which can enhance the strength of Holy Light power. Every clergy member has one such opportunity each month," the priest told Ellie, seemingly with no intention of concealing such information.

After all, it concerned clergy members, so it didn't matter if you knew.

Want it? You can, just become a clergy member.

The Papacy would love to have as many people join as possible!

Become a glorious believer of the God of Light!

Believe in Light! Spread Holy Light throughout the world!

"Hmm~ Alright! Thank you, how long does this Holy Light Baptism take?" Ellie continued to inquire.

"Hmm~ Usually it's three days, but it can be five or even seven days if it's longer," the priest thought for a moment and said, "This depends on the talent of the one being baptized. The better the talent, the longer the baptism, and the greater the increase in Holy Light power!"

"Alright~ Thank you!" Ellie could only nod helplessly when she heard what the other party said.

It seemed Emily wouldn't be coming out anytime soon.

What exactly was this Holy Light Baptism like? Ellie suddenly became curious, of course, she couldn't go in... after all, she couldn't become a clergy member and then receive Holy Light Baptism.

The first to disagree would probably be the Three Dragon God Power within her.

How about going to Maple Leaf's world and pulling out that God of Light to ask? Ellie couldn't help but have such a thought.

Among the gods in Maple Leaf's world, there was also a God of Light.

Fortunately, Ellie only thought about it and didn't act on it.

"Let's go~" Ellie said to Doris. Emily couldn't be found, so it seemed only the two of them could play.

Ellie and Doris left the Papacy and found a seemingly high-end hotel in the royal city. They checked in; one day cost 500 gold coins!
