762: Chapter 762 You and Gwen, come work for me together!

In the end, the money ended up in Aunt May's hands.

Peter felt very fortunate to have had this experience and to have met Clarissa.

Uncle Ben and Aunt May had more smiles on their faces; not only that, but their lives were becoming better!

Peter followed Clarissa to her home.

"Do I need to prepare anything for the party tonight?" Peter asked Clarissa.

"That won't be necessary. Just keep it casual, or you can wear a suit if you'd like." Clarissa shrugged and said, "Tonight's party is to broaden your horizons."

"Hey! Don't act like I've never been to a high-end party! I've seen the world too!" Hearing this, Peter immediately wanted to show off; he wasn't some poor kid who had seen nothing!

"This is different!" A meaningful smile appeared on Clarissa's face.

"Fine, play the Riddler then. I'll find out tonight." Peter shrugged and said, "I'll go buy a suit later this afternoon. I don't usually need one... I'll just get any set, maybe a discounted one."

"Paying in full? Then you really are quite wealthy!" Clarissa said to Peter.

"Of course!" Although he knew Clarissa was teasing him, Peter still lifted his head proudly.

"Lorna will be going too. As for Gwen, I'll make sure she's protected," Clarissa told Peter.

"Mm-hmm?" Hearing Clarissa's words, Peter thought she was referring to someone hitting on her or something similar. "No matter, I'll step in."

Clarissa nodded slightly. "Alright. By the way, Little Spider, when are you and Gwen going to make your relationship official?"

"What 'Little Spider'!" Peter hurriedly gestured to Clarissa, then glanced at Lorna nearby.

He didn't want his identity as Spider-Man to be exposed!

"Don't worry, she's my subordinate and a Mutant with superpowers," Clarissa told Peter.

"A Mutant? Holy crap!" Peter couldn't help but exclaim in surprise upon hearing Clarissa's words, then looked at Lorna. "Oh! Sorry, I didn't mean anything by it, it's just my first time meeting a Mutant!"

Lorna nodded slightly, her expression clearly not great. However, she looked at Peter and saw that he really didn't seem to be discriminating or looking at her like a freak, which made her feel much better.

"It's fine. Peter is also technically a Mutant—oh wait, he's more of a Mutate," Clarissa said with a smile.

"Hmm?" Lorna looked at Peter curiously, then back at Clarissa. "He's a Mutant too?"

"Well, strictly speaking, no. He's a Mutate. He possesses the power of a spider..." Clarissa thought for a moment and then explained Peter's abilities to Lorna.

Peter's eye twitched slightly. Why did he feel like Clarissa knew all his secrets?

He clearly hadn't shown them in front of Clarissa!

Had Clarissa seen everything while he was out at night?

"Actually, Peter's power comes more from the Spider Totem rather than pure mutation," Clarissa said. "Just know that; no need to look deeper into it."

"Lorna's ability is to manipulate magnetic fields," Clarissa told Peter.

"Manipulate magnetic fields!? Oh! That's a terrifying power!" As a top student, Peter understood better than most what kind of power manipulating magnetic fields was, so he looked at Lorna in awe. "That's an incredible ability!"

"Indeed, but she's still young, and to be honest, the power she can exert with this ability is quite average—very weak," Clarissa said, shaking her head slightly.

Lorna curled her lip, unable to refute.

At least, she couldn't refute it in front of Clarissa.

"Well, but that power is definitely awesome!" Peter shrugged. "Unlike me, I only have Spider-Sense, can climb walls, shoot webs, have a bit of strength, speed, and agility—other than that, I'm nothing."

"You're right," Clarissa nodded in agreement.

"..." Peter felt very hurt.

"When there's an opportunity in the future, you can develop towards technology and use it to assist yourself. Hmm... I can also teach you how to Cultivate later," Clarissa said to Peter after some thought.

"Cultivate? You mean like Chinese Kung Fu?" Peter struck a few poses for Clarissa.

"Uh, something like that." Clarissa shook her head slightly. "You'll find out when the time comes. Plus, you can teach it to Gwen so she has the ability to protect herself. Also, does she know you're Spider-Man?"

"Uh... she doesn't know," Peter said, scratching his head.

"So you plan on never telling her?" Clarissa looked at Peter.

"Uh... I'll tell her later!" Peter couldn't help but feel a headache coming on. He scratched his head, unsure of what to do.

"She'll find out eventually, especially if you're certain about being with her," Clarissa told Peter. "Besides, think about it: the enemies you face, criminal organizations, potential rivals—if they want to deal with you and find they can't, won't they target your family? Uncle Ben, Aunt May, and Gwen?"

"..." Peter fell silent. He wanted to argue, but in his heart, he knew Clarissa was right.

"You've gotten a bit overconfident, Peter. You have power, but that doesn't mean you're invincible, nor does it mean the people around you are. You can't protect everyone around you from every little thing," Clarissa said to Peter.

"Okay, you're right!" Peter sighed. Now that Clarissa had pointed it out, he couldn't help but panic a bit. "What should I do? Clarissa, I know you must have a way! Can you help me? I know my request is a bit much, but I'm willing to give everything!"

"In that case, you can be my subordinate too. I've been interested in forming a power base here lately. Lorna is my first subordinate, and you can be the second. After tonight, come clean with Gwen. I'll provide you, Gwen, and Lorna with a basic Cultivation Technique."

"You guys will then Cultivate well, get stronger, and work for me," Clarissa told Peter. "It's definitely best for you and Gwen to have your own strength; that way you can protect yourselves and won't have to worry too much."

"As for Uncle Ben and Aunt May, don't worry. I've got them. I've left marks on them; even if all of New York blows up, they'll be safe and sound, and I'll know about it."

"Uncle Ben and Aunt May are good people, so they aren't meant to die yet. This has nothing to do with you, do you understand?"

"Thank you, Clarissa!" After hearing Clarissa's words, Peter didn't say much more and solemnly nodded to her.
