828: Chapter 828 A one-sided battle—no, there are bulls!
"What on earth is this thing!" Captain America looked at the giant metal monster with a grim expression.
Its massive body was visually estimated to be eight or nine meters tall.
The enormous frame towered like a high spire.
Though it appeared a bit "stiff," its body was "indestructible," resisting everything from firearms and ammunition to the Human Torch's flame attacks.
They hit the opponent with absolutely no effect.
While the latter's movements were somewhat rigid and its attacks straightforward, a single strike flattened a tank like a pancake.
From this alone, one could see the The Destroyer's attacks were terrifying; a single hit would surely be fatal.
Not only that, its faceplate could open to fire a Destruction Beam.
The terrifying beam swept across, and a surge of energy erupted, causing countless explosions.
From just the shockwave alone, Natasha, Hawkeye, and even Captain America—despite their best efforts to dodge—sustained significant injuries.
To say nothing of the other ordinary agents.
If they weren't dead, they were crippled, essentially losing all combat capability.
The Fantastic Four fared slightly better; the Stone People remained unmoved by the shockwave, while the Human Torch transformed into flames and took to the sky.
The Mr. Fantastic bounced away with the Invisible Woman, escaping injury.
Everyone managed to dodge, but their hearts sank.
With just a single blow from the enemy, they were nearly wiped out.
And looking at the metal monster, it was clear that this strike was merely its "basic attack."
How could they even fight this?
Captain America's expression was incredibly grim. First, they had been humiliated by the Akatsuki Organization; now, some random Thor had appeared and drawn out this monster, which was easily crushing them.
Did the Avengers Squad... really have the ability to protect the world? Did they have the ability to resist aliens?
The fact that any random entity could wipe them out... Captain America's morale had crumbled, and he began to doubt himself.
Just then, Thor, Sif, and the others arrived.
The moment Thor saw the The Destroyer, he roared in anger, "Loki! I know it's you! If you want something, come at me!"
The The Destroyer looked at Thor and then launched an attack.
Sif and the Warriors Three immediately attacked the The Destroyer.
How should one put it? It was a truly "primitive" battle.
They just charged in with melee weapons.
Volstagg charged head-on, swinging a two-handed greataxe with all his might.
The The Destroyer ignored him completely, tanking the hit without even a scratch on its armor.
With a backhand punch, Volstagg was sent flying, slamming heavily into a S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicle. The car's midsection buckled inward, and the force sent it sliding over ten meters away. Volstagg lay motionless in the wreckage.
Fandral, the swiftest of the group, circled behind the The Destroyer, his rapier repeatedly stabbing and slashing at the joints and leg armor.
The result was equally laughable; the blade could neither scratch nor pierce the Uru enchanted armor. It was completely ineffective.
As if swatting an annoying fly, the The Destroyer delivered a backhand sweep, sending Fandral to the same fate as Volstagg.
Meanwhile, Hogun swung a mace, striking the The Destroyer's chest with brute force.
The heavy impact of the blunt weapon had a slight effect: the The Destroyer snapped its head toward him. Apparently, compared to the previous "massages," this blunt weapon actually made it feel a bit of an itch.
Energy erupted from its chest, the terrifying force instantly blasting Hogun dozens of meters away. He happened to land on a S.H.I.E.L.D. SUV, and with a loud crash, the roof of the vehicle caved in.
In short order, the Warriors Three proved they were indeed brave, but unfortunately, they were taken out in seconds.
Sif, the strongest among them, took the opportunity to leap high into the air and plunge her longsword downward with all her strength.
The attack actually worked, proving her superior strength, as the longsword pierced into the The Destroyer's body.
However, the The Destroyer wasn't human; it was a "robot"—no, rather, it was just a suit of armor.
As long as the core was intact, stabbing it full of holes was useless!
And Sif's strike hadn't managed to hit the core.
Naturally, the The Destroyer remained completely unfazed. Having a sword stuck in its body was just annoying!
So... swat the fly!
The The Destroyer slapped Sif away with a sudden swipe. The sword remained embedded in the The Destroyer, with only the hilt sticking out.
Whoosh! Bang!
Sif flew out like a cannonball, slamming directly into a S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicle. Half the car's body collapsed, and the force sent it sliding into another car, pushing both several meters further.
Sif was embedded in the first car. Her condition was much better than the Warriors Three—at least she wasn't unconscious—but she was grimacing in pain, her whole body aching.
"Loki!" Thor shouted at the The Destroyer in rage upon seeing this.
There was nothing he could do.
"Thor!" Jane, who had followed them at some point, called out to him.
"Jane... no! Don't come over! Get out of here!" Thor's face paled as he roared at Jane, waving his hands frantically.
The The Destroyer paused, turned its head, and fixed its gaze on Jane. A brilliant white light began to glow from its faceplate.
Thor's expression changed drastically as he roared, "Loki! If you have something against me, take it out on me!"
Without a second thought, Thor lunged forward, throwing his body between the The Destroyer and Jane.
Hum— The The Destroyer fired a beam that struck Thor directly.
"Argh!!!" Thor roared. Boom!!! A massive explosion engulfed him.
"Thor!" Jane couldn't help but cry out as the shockwave from the explosion swept toward her.
It sent her flying, and she tumbled across the ground before falling unconscious.
Thor's clothes were in tatters, and he was sent flying while trailing black smoke. He slammed heavily onto the ground, but fortunately, his divine body was strong enough.
Even after taking that hit, he somehow survived.
"Jane!" Thor looked at the unconscious Jane in the distance, rage boiling within him.
"Loki!" Thor roared, lightning seemingly flickering in his eyes.
Hum— Hum— Mjolnir vibrated in the distance.
The sky suddenly changed as dark clouds gathered and surged, with lightning flashing through them.
The God of Thunder had Awakened!
With a whoosh, Mjolnir flew toward Thor.
And just at that moment...
"Yo~ It's quite lively here!"
A sudden, cynical voice rang out.
It broke the serious atmosphere.
Thor's epic moment was ruined. He froze for a second, and as he looked up, he failed to catch the incoming Mjolnir, which smacked him right in the face.
Thor was knocked to the ground. He scrambled to pick up Mjolnir and then saw the newcomers.
Several figures were floating in the air.
In the center was the red and gold mecha—Iron Man, Tony!
On the left was Polaris, wearing a mask that revealed her green hair, sitting casually atop a flying device.
On the right, standing back-to-back, were Spider-Man Peter Parker and Ghost-Spider Gwen.
The four were dressed in the black robes with red clouds of the Akatsuki Organization, standing in a sharp formation.
Beneath the churning dark clouds, accompanied by thunder and lightning, they exuded an overwhelming sense of pressure!
Wait, this was supposed to be my background!
"They're stealing my thunder!" Thor wailed in his heart.
