836: Chapter 836 Blackrock City Falls in an Instant

Meanwhile, several city guards ran over in a hurry.

Upon seeing Gis, they hurriedly said, "We've disturbed you, Lord Gis!"

"What exactly is happening outside?" Gis asked the guards with a deep frown.

These people hadn't told the whole story, and Gis needed to confirm with the city guards. After all, they had run in from outside the city—had the guards at the gate not stopped them?

Something seemed strange about this.

"We didn't receive any word about these people... nor did we see them..." The guards were stunned as they looked at the blood-stained people before them.

Standing aside, Caesar suddenly noticed something was wrong. His gaze narrowed; a wisp of black gas suddenly seeped out from one of the people hiding in the back.

"Something's wrong! Get back!" Caesar suddenly shouted.

A moment later, Gis also realized something was amiss. With a quick wave of his hand, a light breeze swept the city guards away.

Pfft!

The person hiding behind the others suddenly exploded. Black, mud-like tentacles instantly tore the wailing people to shreds, then wrapped around and devoured them.

As for why Gis didn't save those few people as well—who knew if they were in league with the monster?

Gis was no saint. Since they were together, if they lived, they lived; if not, it was simply their fate.

"Shit! It's an Abyss Monsters!" Gis cursed loudly as he felt the movements of the strange creature.

Dammit! How could an Abyss Monsters appear in a small place like Black Stone City!

"Ah!" The surroundings instantly fell into chaos, with screams and cries erupting everywhere.

Gis gripped a sword and charged straight ahead.

Blazing Flames!

Gis swung his sword violently, the power of the flames transforming into a massive blade of fire that hacked down fiercely.

Dozens of tentacles erupted from the mass of twisted black sludge.

As the tentacles collided with the flames, a sizzling sound rang out, and billows of black gas dispersed, carrying a nauseating, revolting stench.

Moreover, the smell carried a terrifying erosive and corrosive quality.

Several civilians who were slow to escape weren't hit by the tentacles but were enveloped by the black gas.

Amidst their wails, their bodies began to melt, turning into clumps of sludge.

And these clumps of sludge began to sprout tentacles.

Abyss Monsterss!

As the news spread, Black Stone City fell into a state of panic.

Upon hearing the news, Professionals also picked up their weapons and headed this way.

However, something even more terrifying broke out outside the city.

Qianshen Cult!

Several members of the Qianshen Cult launched an attack from outside the city.

Pollution spread everywhere.

Countless civilians melted amidst their screams, turning into masses of disgusting black sludge.

Laurende had already entered the fray, leading a group of Magic Swordsmen to confront the members of the Qianshen Cult.

Various Professionals were also fighting their own separate battles.

The incident was so sudden that everyone was caught off guard. Furthermore, the enemy had contaminated a large number of civilians; those clumps of black sludge formed individual Abyss Monsterss that could separate or undergo Body Integration... Their power was terrifying and highly erosive.

For a time, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Black Stone City had fallen.

There were numerous civilian casualties, and even some low-level Professionals could not escape.

Now Black Stone City was in utter chaos.

A large number of civilians simply abandoned everything and fled toward the outside, heading for the next city! They had to save their lives first.

Chaos, chaos, chaos!

Battles were happening everywhere, but they were extremely scattered, and forces could not be concentrated.

"We can't go on like this!" Caesar watched the scene. Having experience in large-scale group combat, he knew that if this continued, they would surely be picked off one by one. As their strength waned and the enemy's grew, they were destined for a total wipeout!

"Gis! Don't get bogged down in the fight. Find people first and gather them to make a Breakthrough together!" Caesar shouted to Gis.

Hearing this, the latter didn't hesitate. With a backhand stroke, he unleashed a Thunder Slash, obliterating part of the Abyss Monsters's body, then immediately pulled away and headed toward Caesar.

"Let's go!" Gis said to Caesar.

The two moved immediately, quickly searching for nearby Professionals. With Gis and Caesar, two certified top-tier Magic Swordsmen, present, the other Professionals naturally followed their lead.

Soon, they had assembled a team.

"We have to find Laurende!" Gis shouted to Caesar. Laurende was a Master Rank Magic Swordsman and the strongest person in Black Stone City. By consolidating their strength and making Laurende the main force, they could stand against the Qianshen Cult.

This was a premeditated attack!

Simple Abyss Monsterss would have been manageable, as long as there was no Abyss Rift.

The power of the Abyss Monsterss and their own power would neutralize each other.

So, given enough time, they could eventually be dealt with.

But with the Qianshen Cult involved, it was a different story. Although they couldn't match the continuous abyss erosion of an Abyss Rift...

...the Qianshen Cult's own strength was not poor, and they possessed abyss-corroding Spells... they could even briefly open an Abyss Rift to summon Abyss Monsterss.

These people—no, they could no longer be called human; from their physiology to their psychology and even their cognition, they could no longer be considered human!

Along the way, they encountered interceptions by Abyss Monsterss.

Gis intended to fight his way straight through.

Caesar didn't hold back at all this time.

With one sword strike, the terrifying power of flames instantly obliterated an Abyss Monsters.

"Wait, man, were you just messing with me before?" After seeing Caesar truly strike, Gis realized that even though they were both top-tier, Caesar completely outclassed him!

"No, you must be at the Master Rank by now, right? You didn't get certified as a Master and you're just smurfing in the top-tier?"

But in the current situation, with time being of the essence, Gis was instead glad—the stronger Caesar was, the better!

Ideally, he'd have the strength to crush Laurende; that's the only way Black Stone City can be saved!

Under the leadership of Caesar and Gis, the team of Professionals soon expanded to a hundred people, and they successfully found Laurende.

"Laurende, we're here!" Gis shouted. Laurende, who was fighting a member of the Qianshen Cult, suddenly exerted force to push his opponent back and turned to see Caesar, Gis, and the others arriving.

"Just in time! Hurry!" Laurende shouted to Gis.

The latter knew what to do and immediately organized the men to start fighting the Abyss Monsterss together.

The Professionals formed teams, combining swordsmen, mages, and Magic Swordsmen.

The power they unleashed was staggering, especially with their coordination; the Abyss Monsterss were momentarily forced into a retreat.

Caesar watched the coordination of the group and felt slightly relieved.

It seemed the people of this world were quite capable; the tacit cooperation between the various classes was clearly not something formed overnight, but a system of coordination that had existed for a long time.

The counterattack launched by Black Stone City was very effective for a time, but then, two more members of the Qianshen Cult arrived.

The pressure instantly skyrocketed!
