767: Chapter 767 Huh? Isn't this a sugar daddy coming?!
"Eh? Peter?" Gwen turned her gaze toward Peter, her eyes filled with a touch of disbelief. "Are you quitting your job as Dr. Connors' assistant? You didn't even discuss it with me?"
Peter panicked instantly, casting a pleading look toward Clarissa before quickly saying to Gwen, "No, no, it's not that I'm quitting. I've joined Clarissa's organization, but I haven't stopped working as an assistant!"
Gwen frowned as she listened to Peter, then sighed helplessly and said to Clarissa, "Alright, Clarissa, stop playing with me. Tell me clearly what's going on."
"Hahaha~" Clarissa burst out laughing. Seeing that the show was over, she shook her head slightly. "Let Peter tell you."
"Peter?" Gwen's head snapped back toward Peter.
"..." Peter's eye twitched slightly, but he remembered what Clarissa had said. "Gwen, come over to my place for dinner later. After dinner, there's a gathering Clarissa invited us to. Once that's over, there's something we need to talk to you about."
"Everything?" Gwen looked at Peter, a different meaning seemingly hidden in her eyes.
"Everything!" Peter nodded firmly.
"Fine, then we'll talk after the gathering." Gwen nodded slightly, asking no more for now.
"So, are we going to Peter's place now? Or... since it's still early, should we go out for a stroll?" Gwen asked the group.
"Let's go for a stroll. It's a rare opportunity for Lorna," Clarissa said as she stood up, looking at Lorna beside her.
"Sure!" Gwen agreed, glancing at Lorna. She could tell that Lorna was different from them. To be precise, she gave off the vibe of a 'sewer rat' finally seeing the light of day—well, forgive her choice of words and any perceived disrespect.
A hint of anticipation and excitement flickered in Lorna's eyes.
Was she really going to walk the streets openly? She could go shopping! She could enjoy life freely!
The four of them left the apartment and hit the streets. Clarissa intended to take Lorna around and do some shopping, buying things like clothes and daily necessities, as she hadn't prepared much on her end.
"Just buy what's necessary; we'll be moving soon anyway," Clarissa told Lorna.
"Moving? Clarissa, you don't plan on living here anymore?" Gwen asked upon hearing this, while Peter also looked at Clarissa.
"Of course. I mentioned I've started an organization, so naturally, I need to change locations. That place is too small. I won't stop renting it, though; it'll be nice to stay there occasionally or use it as a temporary base."
"If you two are free, you can head over there as well. I've prepared a set of keys for you," Clarissa said to Gwen and Peter.
"That makes sense... Clarissa, you've started an organization. Although I don't know what kind of organization it is yet, you'll definitely need to recruit people." Gwen nodded slightly. "Just remember to tell us where you move so we can visit when we're free."
"Of course!" Clarissa replied with a smile. "I'll probably get a large villa. That way many people can stay, the privacy is good, and there's plenty of space, including a yard... My organization won't have many people, maybe a dozen at most?"
Clarissa felt that a dozen people was already quite a lot.
She was referring to core members. If there were external personnel or the like, that would be a different story.
Core members would be people like Peter and Lorna.
External personnel might be others who run errands, help out, or handle logistics—essentially odd-job workers who wouldn't even count as organization members.
"A large villa, and one with a significant area... Do you have that much money..." Gwen's little brain began calculating the potential costs based on Clarissa's words. "Oh, right! You probably aren't short on cash..."
Gwen suddenly remembered the sheer extravagance Clarissa had displayed when they first met.
'Is one ton enough?' Gwen still found it absurd whenever she thought about it!
That was gold! How could she treat it like worthless scrap metal!
"Clarissa might be 'short' on money, but being broke is unlikely," Peter chimed in from the side.
"You're joking, I'm still short on it," Clarissa said with a slight smile. Suddenly, her phone rang; the caller was an unknown number.
"Hello?" Clarissa answered the call.
"Clarissa?" a man's voice came from the other end. "It's Tony!"
Clarissa raised an eyebrow and said to the others, "See? Here comes the financial sponsor."
"?" Tony, on the other end, naturally heard her and was filled with question marks.
"I know. Is something up?" Clarissa asked Tony.
"Of course!" Tony didn't overthink it and immediately spoke with excitement. "I'm sorry, after I returned, I was tied up with many trivial matters that needed handling. I've only just managed to free myself. I want to treat you to dinner. I know a life-saving debt is immense; this isn't repayment, but a chance for me to formally and properly thank you."
"Sure, but I have four people on my side," Clarissa told Tony.
"Small matter! It's settled then! Send me the address, and I'll come pick you up," Tony said dismissively.
What were four people? Even if it were four hundred, would he, the great Sect Head of Stark, care about such pocket change?
"Fine." After Clarissa gave Tony an address, the latter acknowledged it and hung up.
"Well, someone is treating us to dinner," Clarissa said, shaking her head slightly.
"Then I'll let Aunt May know." Peter nodded upon hearing this. The other party was the world-famous playboy and Sect Head of the Stark Group, Tony Stark!
The Young Master of a top-tier financial tycoon!
Peter never imagined that he would one day eat with such a person, even if it was only because of Clarissa's influence.
Even though Lorna was a low-level Mutant living a life of hiding, she had still heard of Tony Stark's reputation.
"Well, we'll see. It's still early, so we might not actually eat much. We can just politely decline then. Besides, I can eat a lot; you guys should eat less so you can still eat when we get home," Clarissa said with a laugh.
By comparison, she still didn't want to miss the dinner Aunt May had meticulously prepared.
After all, after lunch, Aunt May had already been happily preparing for dinner.
She didn't want to let that kindness go to waste.
"You're right! I'll follow your lead." Peter shrugged, dropping the idea of notifying Aunt May, and then waited with some anticipation for Tony's arrival.
After a while, two luxury cars pulled up to the curb.
"Hey! Clarissa! Over here!" The rear window rolled down, and Tony waved at Clarissa from inside.
"Get in." Clarissa sat in Tony's car, while the other three got into the car behind it.
