438: Day-traveling ghost

The mercenaries, however, frowned slightly as they looked at Jun Li.

This Sword Cultivator's strength was actually so formidable!

This was quite different from their impression of Sword Cultivators... After all, the Way of the Sword was in decline now, and most Sword Cultivators were rogue cultivators, or some more powerful ones had 'inherited' family traditions, or obtained scattered legacies, and so on.

But overall, their strength was indeed quite poor.

Coupled with the exclusion from other 'Ways,' Sword Cultivators were 'lone wolves' no matter what they did.

Moreover, their numbers were too small, making it difficult to find other Sword Cultivators.

Although there was also a 'Sword Hall' whose purpose was to unite Sword Cultivators, allowing them to communicate and support each other... the effect, however, was hard to describe. Of course, it wasn't without any effect at all; at least it gave the Way of the Sword some breathing room and a place to reside.

This matter could be boasted about quite a bit!

If nothing unexpected happened, by the time they reached the next city, these mercenaries would be the biggest gossips in the taverns... A lot of information was leaked from their mouths.

Of course, there was definitely artistic embellishment, as they were bragging.

"Let's continue!" Jun Li said to the merchant.

"Alright, alright!" The merchant immediately had the caravan continue forward.

During this journey, the guards and mercenaries would occasionally glance at Jun Li.

But Jun Li ignored them.

They traveled for about an hour and a half.

"We've pretty much reached the spot," Jun Li said to the merchant, seeing that they had traveled quite a distance, and then jumped off the carriage.

"Understood... Farewell, Sword Immortal!" The middle-aged man said to Jun Li with some regret.

Along the way, Jun Li had resolved two more waves of demon attacks for them.

This feeling of 'lying back' was too enjoyable! And the sense of security was overwhelming. Now that she was leaving, they suddenly emerged from their 'comfort zone' and were a bit unaccustomed to it.

"I wish you a smooth journey!" Jun Li said with a slight smile to the middle-aged man.

After watching the other party slowly depart, Jun Li looked around.

She chose to get off here because it was where the previously attacked caravan had been.

She walked towards the place in her memory.

Yes, the previous carriage was still overturned there.

The bodies were gone, leaving behind dried dark red bloodstains.

Judging by the traces around, it seemed that more Ghouls had come. These Ghouls were like cats smelling fish.

Even if one batch was dealt with, another batch would come after a while.

If bodies were not cremated, even if buried underground, they would still be dug up and eaten by Ghouls.

Therefore, in this world, cremation was the way to deal with death.

There was no such thing as 'resting in peace' when buried, because they couldn't rest in peace if buried.

However, Jun Li's purpose was not to look at these things.

"I remember these carriages seemed to have been chased by something and diverted to this side..." Jun Li searched around.

She mainly looked at The Ground and in the crevices of various grasses, to see if she could find any clues.

Because Day Roaming Ghosts would leave behind things similar to crystal dust, very subtle, and if one wasn't careful, they wouldn't notice it at all.

And often, without the experience, one wouldn't recognize it as something left by a Day Roaming Ghost.

Here, there's an interesting point to mention.

That is, the crystal dust left by Day Roaming Ghosts would emit an extremely faint glow at night, even weaker than moonlight, but it wasn't white.

And Night-walking Ghosts would also leave crystal dust, and these crystal dusts would absorb light during the day, much like shadows. Often, they wouldn't be noticed, or would be mistaken for shadows and the like.

Day Roaming Ghosts and Night-walking Ghosts also looked very similar. One might even suspect if it was the same entity acting as a Day Roaming Ghost during the day and changing clothes to become a Night-walking Ghost at night...

And these crystal dusts generally only existed for about three days, and the later it was, the harder they were to find. After three days, they basically 'evaporated'.

"Found it!" Jun Li found a speck of crystal dust on the grass in a bush.

"Tracking and Concealment!" Jun Li used the tracking spell on this crystal dust.

Thankfully, she was 'well-read' and had learned a bit of everything.

A faint white light lit up in Jun Li's eyes.

"Very faint. Today is probably the second day, almost the third," Jun Li saw faint traces extending outwards.

This spell, to find traces, first required finding a trace, and then one could follow these traces further.

It was like, once you had 1, you could capture 2, 3, 4, 5.

But if you couldn't find 1, then you couldn't go from 0 to 1.

Although this spell had some drawbacks, the benefits outweighed them.

"Over here!" Jun Li immediately followed the traces.

Don't ask why a Sword Cultivator would know such a 'tracking' spell.

After all, in this Sword Origin World, although the Way of the Sword was dominant, there were still other supporting paths, such as alchemy, artifact refining, and geomancy formations. And this spell was related to the geomancy aspect of geomancy formations.

Moreover, Sword Immortals often descended the mountains to 'do good deeds'.

Finding people, finding demons, was akin to being a demon hunter.

So, such methods were definitely necessary.

Jun Li followed the traces all the way.

"Hmm! The marks here are newer! It seems yesterday... No! There's more here... This level, it's from today! This Day Roaming Ghost has been here all along!" Jun Li's eyes lit up. Since this Day Roaming Ghost had been here all along, it would be easy to deal with!

Jun Li immediately followed the freshest traces.

In the Cross-World Group.

Everyone watched Jun Li's live broadcast. This format was quite interesting.

Chen Mu: "Isn't this just a demon hunter!"

Yi Xin: "What demon hunter?"

Chen Mu explained to everyone, as similar novels and games existed in his 21st-century modern urban world.

Jun Li: "That's right, it's somewhat similar. According to ancient records, Sword Immortals used to be like this..."

Jun Li told everyone about many deeds of Sword Immortals from the past.

The relationship between Sword Immortals and mortals was not like it was in the current era.

Lin Zifeng: "Is that so! I thought this world was a pure sword-dao world! Punishing evil and promoting good! Punishing demons and eradicating evil!"

Zhu Wenyan: "This feeling is quite special!"

Under this live broadcast, the effect was indeed present.

Especially for viewers like Zhu Wenyan and Chen Mu.

Chen Mu, in particular, liked to play games in his daily life and had played many demon-hunting and monster-hunting games.

Now, it was practically a first-person view of an 'anchor' hunting demons!

It was like AR, very exciting and immersive!

Ten minutes later.

Jun Li passed through a patch of woods and saw a small clearing appear before her.

A monster wearing a ragged white robe floated, its lower half empty, with only suspended ragged robe corners and a gap of about ten centimeters from The Ground.

And those crystal dusts were scattered on The Ground from inside it.
