163: Ran Quan

Wasteland Era - Year 202.

202 years had passed since the apocalypse.

The once prosperous Saida Alliance was destroyed in an instant, and the surface of Saida World was largely reduced to ruins, with only countless remnants bearing witness to its former glory.

Over these two hundred years, the surviving Saida people moved from the surface to underground, spending two centuries establishing a new underground safe house, gradually setting up and developing various facilities from scratch.

In the initial years, people lived extremely difficult lives, with large numbers dying daily from various causes... hunger... sickness... infection...

It wasn't until thirty years later that they truly gained a foothold underground, and people's lives gradually stabilized.

Then, up to the current year 202, over two hundred years, people had developed a stable social order and complete infrastructure, though technology could not return to its former state... And due to the environment, their current underground location, the initial hardships, and the remnants of “last century” technology, among other special reasons... the technology of the current Saida World had also begun to develop in another direction.

Ran Quan is a “new generation” Saida person.

Since birth, he had lived underground, experiencing only the “Wasteland Era.”

He was from underground District 11. Well... nowadays, the underground is divided into 13 districts, and the further back the district number, the more backward and impoverished the living conditions.

Therefore, although Ran Quan had not reached the most impoverished and backward outermost districts, he was still among the last, and his life naturally wasn't very good.

“Sizzle~ sizzle~” Ran Quan gulped down a bag of 3rd level drinking water in his hand.

Drinking water is divided into 3 levels; level 1 is the best, generally only available to people in the first three districts. Districts four to six primarily have level 2 drinking water. Beyond that, there's only partial and limited supply, while District 10 and beyond primarily rely on 3rd level drinking water.

How to describe 3rd level drinking water... one can only say it's drinkable, it won't kill you, and it won't upset your stomach too much...

“These days... are getting harder and harder... Should I go to the surface wasteland and take a look?” Ran Quan frowned slightly. He wasn't doing very well in District 11, but he couldn't move up, and further back... it was too chaotic... Even if he was “battle-hardened,” he feared he couldn't withstand those crazy, twisted people.

Just now, Ran Quan had killed a thug who tried to rob him and found the only supplies on the opponent... two bags of 3rd level drinking water, which for Ran Quan, was already life-saving emergency material.

As for the corpse, it lay on the ground behind him. Ran Quan ignored it. In this era, the law was no longer like that of peaceful times.

This corpse would naturally be dealt with by someone, and no one would care, after all... they were all people from the bottom, with no right to talk about fairness.

Resources were basically controlled by the upper-class figures. There was no other way; this era... this world... was a post-apocalyptic world...

“If it really doesn't work out... I'll go to the surface and try my luck... If I can get some good stuff from before the Wasteland Era... that could sell for a lot, a lot of money!” Ran Quan pursed his lips. If things continued like this, he wouldn't be able to survive. His parents had already died for him and his younger sister...

[System loading...]

A voice appeared in Ran Quan's mind, followed by information about the system.

“There's actually such a magical existence! Is it some unknown technology? Or...” While Ran Quan was shocked, he was half-skeptical about the information in his mind.

However, he looked at the mall and system space within the system and tried it out, putting the only bag of 3rd level drinking water he had into it.

“It really went in!” Ran Quan watched the drinking water disappear from his hand, then felt the bag of drinking water lying in the system space in his mind...

“Space technology... how amazing...” Ran Quan tried several times; it was real!

“Then this mall...” Ran Quan looked at the countless good things in the mall... he didn't quite understand things like body tempering techniques and cultivation methods, but he understood the others!

Exoskeletons... laser guns... plasma guns... implants... various technologies he had heard of and hadn't heard of, making him dizzy with wonder.

Ran Quan was somewhat shocked, but he knew now was not a good time to study this.

“Let's go back first...” Ran Quan cautiously looked around, then crouched down and quickly walked along the wall in one direction.

After a while, he entered an abandoned pipe.

“Sister!” Ran Quan softly called out a few times, but received no response, which made Ran Quan frown and his heart instantly panic.

“Sister!” Ran Quan couldn't help but raise his voice, crouching and moving quickly through the pipe, searching for his sister's figure.

He saw that their original “home” only had a pile of rags used as a bed and some simple daily necessities, all appearing very messy at the moment.

Ran Quan's heart tightened when he saw the messy scene. He saw a broken 3rd level drinking water bag on the ground, with water stains leading in one direction.

Ran Quan immediately followed the water stains.

After many twists and turns, Ran Quan emerged from this cluster of abandoned pipes. As soon as he came out, he saw a scene that made his eyes split with rage.

His sister lay on the ground, and a transport vehicle was driving away in the distance.

Ran Quan immediately rushed to his sister's side. At this moment, his sister's eyes were vacant, her body covered in blood, her abdomen slit open, and her internal organs long gone...

“Ah...” Ran Quan trembled all over, his mouth agape, but no sound came out. Tears streamed uncontrollably from his reddened eyes.

That vehicle... that group of people... he knew... the notorious human organ trafficking gang in District 11... specifically supplying the upper echelons...

Ran Quan knelt beside his sister, his head pressed to the ground... For a long time... Ran Quan's seemingly petrified body suddenly moved. He silently gathered his sister's remains... cremated them, put her ashes in a small box, and placed it in the system space.

“No matter what you are... I am willing to give everything I have...” Ran Quan's gaze was extremely cold. He “looked” at the system in his mind.

The system gave no response, as if it were a dead object.

Ran Quan pursed his lips. He looked at the items in the system mall, all of which required something called source points.

“Newbie Gift Pack... 300 source points...” Ran Quan looked at a “top-pinned” item in the mall.

Immediately, Ran Quan checked his personal attributes:

Ran Quan - 1

source points: 305

Physical Fitness: 0.6

Mental Strength: 0.9

Talent: None

Ability: None

Ran Quan didn't know if these were good or bad. He had no other thoughts now, only revenge... He hated this world, hated these scumbags...

Ran Quan looked at his pitiful source points. He couldn't buy anything else; he could only purchase the Newbie Gift Pack.

He didn't hesitate and chose to purchase it directly.

300 source points were deducted, leaving 5 points.

[Newbie Gift Pack purchased successfully]
