743: Chapter 743 Natasha
Clarissa didn't say much more; she simply wanted to give Peter a reminder so that he would remember it when he needed it.
In her view, this Marvel World was just a hodgepodge.
However, as it stood, the general plotline shouldn't see any major changes; at most, there might be a few butterfly effects, with mostly just differences in the details.
But the overall trajectory shouldn't change.
"Uh... okay, I got it!" After hearing Clarissa's words, Peter was stunned for a moment, then nodded thoughtfully in response.
After Peter and Gwen left, Clarissa, having nothing better to do, went downstairs for a stroll.
As Clarissa was walking, she suddenly sensed something and sidestepped.
"Oh! I'm so sorry! I almost bumped into you!" A stunningly beautiful woman said to Clarissa with an apologetic look.
Her eyes scanned Clarissa's face, and she couldn't help but show a look of amazement: "Oh! My god! You are just too beautiful!"
"Thank you." Clarissa nodded slightly. She noticed something different about the other person; although she was still a "Mortal," she was clearly proficient in combat, her body had been well-tempered, and she was quite skilled.
This was clearly not an ordinary person.
"Hello, my name is Natalie Rushman! Nice to meet you, I really am sorry about just now; I was too lost in thought and didn't notice you." Natalie said to Clarissa with an apologetic look.
Clarissa glanced at her, and without needing to guess, she knew this was the Black Widow of the Marvel World—Natasha Romanoff.
Had S.H.I.E.L.D. already taken notice of her? She had to admit, they were quite capable.
Clarissa's gaze shifted slightly as she thought about S.H.I.E.L.D., now riddled with snakes, and that one-eyed, dark-skinned director, pondering the "stupidity" displayed in the plot.
Clarissa only felt amused.
"Clarissa." Clarissa nodded slightly in response.
"Are you busy? Would you like to go grab a drink? My treat, just as an apology." Natasha said to Clarissa: "To be honest, I'd really like to know how you take care of your skin! It looks absolutely amazing!"
"Is this how you agents hit on people?" Clarissa said, looking at Natasha.
Upon hearing this, the latter's eyes darted around, and she naturally put on a confused expression as she said to Clarissa: "What agents? What are you talking about?"
"Alright, S.H.I.E.L.D... oh wait, it should be that agency with the very long name, Agent Natasha Romanoff, I know who you are. So you don't need to probe me anymore." Clarissa shook her head slightly and said.
"..." Natasha looked at Clarissa. Since the other party had already said as much, there was no point in pretending: "Fine, I really want to know how I was exposed."
"There are too many reasons. Your body is different from an ordinary person's, and you have undergone professional training..." Clarissa listed a bunch of points.
"..." Natasha fell silent for a moment. Was she really that obvious? Her previously unblemished career as an agent hadn't been like this.
"Of course, the most important thing is that I know you." Clarissa added as a final note.
"..." That was the main point, wasn't it! The mission had failed before it even truly began; she had been discovered before she even started.
"Alright, then can we find a quiet place, let me buy you a cup of coffee, and we can chat?" Natasha said to Clarissa.
"Sure, I don't have anything going on anyway." Clarissa nodded slightly.
Strength was her confidence; whatever the other party wanted to do, whatever she planned, Clarissa could handle it regardless of what she intended.
Any schemes or tricks, in the face of absolute strength, were nothing but demons and monsters before Zhong Kui.
The target seemed easy to talk to, very gentle, and well-intentioned, so she could be approached gently.
"Follow me, I know a nice cafe." Natasha said to Clarissa.
Clarissa followed her to a cafe; it was indeed quiet, with no one around.
The two sat by the window.
"A latte, what would you like?" Natasha asked Clarissa.
"Cappuccino."
After the waiter walked away, Natasha asked Clarissa: "What is your purpose? I can't find any traces of you, including your identity, life history, etc. It's as if you suddenly appeared here. And the people you've been in contact with, Peter Parker, a poor kid—though he studies well and is currently Dr. Connors's assistant... his childhood sweetheart Gwen, who is also a top student, and her father George, who has some status..."
Natasha didn't play any games; she laid everything out on the table.
Because from her sixth sense, she could feel how terrifying and troublesome Clarissa was.
So she spoke directly; there was no need for such games when facing such an unknown powerhouse.
"You're right, I did indeed suddenly appear here." Clarissa nodded slightly and said.
"What do you mean?" Natasha couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.
Clarissa didn't speak. Just then, the waiter brought over two cups of coffee.
"Enjoy." The waiter set the coffee down and turned to leave.
"Because I am not from this world." Clarissa smiled and said.
"Not from this world..." Natasha's eyes flickered slightly.
"Just knowing that is enough. As for the rest, I'll tell you one more piece of information: I can travel freely between worlds." Clarissa said to Natasha: "I have no interest in you people; I came to this world just for fun."
"I'll state this in advance: you had better not provoke me. Because I have no morals, and I won't be constrained by your so-called laws."
"..."
She had been threatened, but she couldn't gauge Clarissa's strength, nor the validity of her claim about being able to freely travel between worlds.
"Alright, let's exchange contact information. If you need anything, or if someone provokes you, please let me know first, and I will handle it. How about that?" Natasha said to Clarissa.
She had to keep things stable first, and after reporting back, she would see what Director Nick Fury had to say.
"Sure." Clarissa nodded slightly and then took the number Natasha gave her.
"Give me an address, and I'll take care of the follow-up, including a phone and identity, so you can travel here with peace of mind." Natasha said to Clarissa.
"Fine." Clarissa nodded slightly. She took the sticky note and pen that Natasha handed over.
She wrote down an address, the very apartment Peter had rented for her.
"That's it for now." Clarissa finished the last sip of her cappuccino, stood up, and walked outside.
Natasha watched Clarissa's departing figure and couldn't help but let out a sigh.
Only then did she realize that her back had already been soaked through without her even noticing.
