835: Chapter 835 has been found, but something's happened!

The Akatsuki Organization has a stable output of Super Soldier Serum... with a success rate as high as 30%... In other words, if they recruit 100 people, they can have 30 Captain Americas...

Holy shit! What the hell is this!

When Nick Fury thought of his own "research team," he couldn't help but turn into the Motherfucker-man.

A bunch of trash! Useless! Completely worthless!

However, this was the norm! Scientific research is something where results take years, decades, or even several decades.

Unfortunately, the Akatsuki Organization not only had Tony, but also Connors, Yinsen, and Banner—these "BUG-level" researchers. One could say "destiny is on our side"!

Moreover, this was Apocalypse Serum No. 1, improved and upgraded from the Lizard Serum already completed by the "story character" Connors.

The starting point was already very high, combined with these super geniuses and some black technology from other worlds... plus the assistance of the strong AI, Xiao.

Producing results so quickly, while still incredible, seemed somewhat acceptable.

Next was Thor's desire to return to Asgard, but those matters were for S.H.I.E.L.D. to worry about.

The Akatsuki Organization didn't care about their follow-up affairs.

Tony and the others were busy researching The Destroyer.

...

"Caesar! We found it, we found the information about that Kureso you mentioned..."

A week had passed, and Gis found Caesar again. Today, instead of clamoring for drinks and sparring, he spoke of serious business first.

"Found him?!" Caesar walked out of his house. After so much time, they had finally found it.

"Yeah, according to Laurende, the headquarters almost flipped through every old record and book before finding a bit of information in a long-forgotten corner. They pieced it together and summarized it," Gis said to Caesar.

Caesar was somewhat surprised to hear this; he hadn't expected them to go to such lengths!

It seemed they were truly taking it to heart, and their attitude toward that Abyss was truly "better to kill a mistake than let one go." So ruthless!

Caesar also understood that any other normal person, let alone searching for a week, would likely lose interest if they didn't find anything after a few days.

However, the Magic Swordsman Guild (presumably) pushed through to the end and actually managed to find it.

"Most importantly, they found that these records had traces of being redacted, hidden, or destroyed long ago. What's left is likely what the other party failed to find," Gis told Caesar.

"Now the problem is quite serious. Such actions indicate that during those years or that period, this Kureso was very problematic!" Gis said with a serious expression. "Combined with your intelligence and the suspicion of a connection to the Abyss, it matches up. This Kureso is a big problem!"

"Yeah, but it's not of much use." Caesar nodded, then shook his head slightly. "I brought this up because I wanted you all to take it seriously and pay attention to this person, and... the current world is not stable. There's an actual mastermind behind the scenes, it's not just a problem with the Abyss!"

"We understand that. As you said, too much time has passed, and we can't find this Kureso at all. If the other party is connected to the Abyss, it's even harder for us to know, let alone verify," Gis nodded understandingly. "But it's not a big problem; we aren't looking for evidence."

"The Magic Swordsman Guild has already joined forces with the Swordsman and Mage Guilds, and all the major guilds have increased their patrol and defense Ranks," Gis nodded to Caesar. "Actually, there have been some signs over the years. Those big shots have felt something strange, or rather, they all feel that something big is about to happen."

"It's just been hidden behind the clouds. To some extent, everyone has already been secretly investigating information from various places."

"It seems things aren't as bad as I thought." Hearing this, Caesar sighed in relief and smiled.

"That's for sure!" Gis said with a smirk.

Although this world possesses transcendent powers and is ruled by high-level entities, it's more like a feudal society than a slave society.

Although there are slaves in this world, it's not inhuman or completely devoid of human rights—well, at least on the surface.

Furthermore, transcendent powers like the Magic Swordsman Guild don't act aloof or stand on some unreachable pedestal.

They still look down and stand with the lower classes.

Thus, the livelihood of the people in this world has developed quite well. The lower classes don't live too miserably. Although there is severe class stratification, if you are content and law-abiding, you can live a stable life in most cases.

If you oppress others too harshly, even if you suppress it at the time, you'll inevitably run into a kind-hearted Swordsman, Mage, or Magic Swordsman one day... then you'd better pray for yourself!

If you like to oppress people, you'll have to taste what it feels like to be severely oppressed.

Even being an official won't help.

When the Guild intervenes, as long as it doesn't involve matters of national stability, even if you are a city lord, once the Guild confirms it, not only will the Guild act, but the royal family will personally step in to take you down.

Once Caesar learned this, he felt that even though there was still plenty of darkness in the shadows, it was good enough on the surface.

Even in Caesar's world, aren't there still Fallen Ones?

Caesar wasn't stubborn, nor was he an idealist.

"So, what's next?" Gis asked Caesar. He was usually unreliable, but he was sharper than anyone.

Moreover, he had long felt that Caesar was abnormal.

Of course, this "abnormal" didn't mean he suspected Caesar of being from the Abyss. Rather, he felt Caesar's abnormality was that he seemed like a "Magic Swordsman" of this world, but in reality, there were differences; he didn't quite fit in.

But Gis also knew that Caesar wasn't a bad person, and that was enough.

Furthermore, he had warned them about Kureso. From that perspective, at least the other party was on their side, which was sufficient.

As for the future, that could wait.

If the sky falls, the tall ones will hold it up. I, Gis, am just a poor little top-tier Magic Swordsman; I can't cause much of a stir.

"Help! Help!" someone suddenly shouted.

Gis and Caesar looked at each other, both feeling that something was wrong. Walking on the street, the two turned their heads and saw several men in rags, covered in blood and faces full of terror, stumbling down the street from afar.

"What happened?" Gis quickly stopped one of them and asked.

Seeing Gis, the man recognized him and acted as if he had found a savior: "Outside the city, to the west, we were attacked by a mass of black creatures of unknown shape! So many people have died, only we managed to run back!"
