39: Apocalypse World

Lin Zhi took a deep breath, recalled her training over the past few days, mentally prepared herself, then gritted her teeth and took the initiative to attack!

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Lin Zhi charged towards the zombies.

The movement Lin Zhi made, combined with her proximity to the zombies, caused them to sense her. The sudden appearance of a "creature" drew all of their attention.

However, their somewhat sluggish nature, coupled with the suddenness of her appearance, prevented them from reacting immediately. They even "brewed" for a moment.

And that brief moment was enough time for Lin Zhi to rush in front of them, her blade rising and falling.

Pfft!

One zombie's head was diagonally sliced off.

The alloy blade's sharpness was demonstrated to its fullest; it cut through like tofu, and Lin Zhi felt no resistance whatsoever.

So zombies are just like this... Lin Zhi took down one zombie instantly, looking at the others charging towards her.

Lin Zhi tightened her grip on the alloy blade and swept it horizontally with speed, precision, and ruthlessness.

Pfft!

Another zombie's upper half of its head flew straight into the air.

Lin Zhi became more excited and unrestrained with each kill.

Once she had resolved her inner conflict and mustered her courage to take this step, it really wasn't so bad.

Zombies are just like this, right! Lin Zhi thought, as the zombies were positioned one after another, like the Calabash Brothers trying to save their grandpa, getting knocked down by Lin Zhi's blade one after another.

Zombies don't understand fear, and being tireless, they were incredibly reckless. They didn't dodge or avoid Lin Zhi's blade.

That's why it was so easy to kill them.

In just a few minutes, Lin Zhi had killed all dozen or so zombies.

Lin Zhi was panting heavily, her spirit incredibly exhilarated. She turned to look at the zombie corpses scattered everywhere—these were all her "masterpieces"!

Lin Zhi felt a surge of heroic spirit welling up from her heart.

I'm actually this strong! This is too excellent! Lin Zhi stood there in disbelief, still replaying how she had managed to do it.

Just now, her adrenaline had surged, making her incredibly excited. Now that the rush had passed, she felt a bit disoriented, unsure how she had accomplished all of it.

Lin Ze hadn't expected his source points to increase.

He suddenly gained 1580 points!

That much!? Lin Ze himself hadn't expected it.

However, thinking about how source points are acquired, it was clear that he must have changed Lin Zhi's fate.

Moreover, whether or not it was due to a causal relationship, he also received source points when Lin Zhi killed zombies, just not as many as when he killed them himself.

This made his resolve to form a team even stronger.

This mode and efficiency were clearly higher! There is strength in numbers.

This brought Lin Ze's source points to three thousand.

"I did it! Not bad, right?" Lin Zhi walked over happily and said to Lin Ze.

"Not bad! You really did a good job!" Lin Ze said with a smile, "From now on, let's act together!"

Upon hearing this, Lin Zhi's face lit up with joy, knowing that Lin Ze's words meant he had completely accepted her, and she had truly become a member of Lin Ze's team. She was no longer in a "superior-subordinate relationship" but an "equal relationship."

Of course, it wasn't completely equal; Lin Ze was still the leader.

"Oh, right, I have something to tell you!" Lin Ze thought for a moment and decided to tell Lin Zhi now.

"What?" Lin Zhi looked at Lin Ze curiously.

Lin Ze told Lin Zhi the prepared explanation.

"So that's how it is! No wonder!" Lin Zhi suddenly understood, "This ability is amazing! I wonder if I'll have a chance to Awaken a special ability too..."

Lin Zhi also became interested in special abilities. If she continued to use evolution crystals in the future, could she also Awaken a special ability... What kind of special ability would it be... Lin Zhi had expectations, after all, the "finished product" was right in front of her.

And as for Lin Ze having this ability, she wasn't jealous at all.

Just as Lin Ze thought, as their leader, Lin Zhi felt even more at ease with him having this ability. It also meant their lives would be more comfortable!

"Let's go! We'll continue to gather supplies!" Lin Ze said to Lin Zhi. Since he had "exposed" this ability, gathering supplies could be a bit more "reckless."

"Hey! Right, Lin Ze, if I hadn't passed the assessment, would you have kept this ability a secret from me forever?" Lin Zhi asked Lin Ze.

Lin Ze looked at Lin Zhi as if she were an idiot.

"Hehe~" Lin Zhi knew she had asked a pointless question and stuck out her tongue in embarrassment.

...

Tang Ziheng did not retract his gaze. Lin Ze's development was quite slow; he wasn't a very good worker. Compared to Clarissa, he was simply the "weakest of the weak."

It was the same with Bai Mo, but Bai Mo's world still had high development potential, and there were those secret realms and competitions between nations.

There would be many opportunities to earn source points in the future, and very likely a substantial amount.

It should be a world with the potential to compare with Clarissa, or even surpass it.

But for now...

Tang Ziheng, who already had over a million source points, was about to open the fourth world!

[Do you want to spend 1,000,000 source points to search for a world?]

Tang Ziheng couldn't help but click his tongue at the source point cost.

The third world was only 10,000, but the fourth jumped to 1,000,000. He wondered if the fifth world would be ten million or a hundred million...

Tang Ziheng would only know the cost when he met the requirement.

He wondered what kind of world the fourth world would be... Tang Ziheng looked forward to seeing what kind of world the fourth one would be, like opening a blind box...

...

This was originally a continent of three realms where humans, gods, and demons coexisted.

However, eighty thousand years ago.

The invasion of an otherworldly force shattered the peace of this world.

Evil gods from another world invaded this world, and countless evil invaders corroded the world.

The God Realm shattered, and the Demon Realm withered.

The Human Realm turned to scorched earth.

Death, despair, smoke, and blood became the main theme of the world.

The sky was no longer pure.

The earth was no longer green.

Countless lives vanished, and countless races existed forever in the long river of time, until forgotten.

This period of time was called the "Twilight Era."

The World Will, Aledo, sacrificed everything to protect itself, establishing a world Solubility layer (world Solubility layer - World Soluble Layer, a protective layer) which barely managed to restrict the otherworldly invasion.

The surviving humans were finally able to breathe.

From this day forward, it was known as the Dawn Era.

Thirty thousand years later.

The Human Realm finally managed to establish a complete power system, utilizing the lingering divine powers, its own power system, and the power of the World Will.

They established a power system called: the Professional.

Fundamentally, this Professional power system emphasized "embracing all rivers" and "accommodating all things."

It only revered power, any form of power!

It didn't care if it was physical body or bloodline, magic or arcane, divine or demonic.

...

Apocalypse Continent, Eldan Camp.

A wanderer lay on the dirty ground.

He slowly opened his eyes and stood up.

"Where is this?!" He looked around in horror.

This world was so unfamiliar.

A memory surged from his mind.

He understood; he had transmigrated!

His soul came from a blue planet, and his original name was Xu Duantong.

He woke up and found himself in this place, even though he hadn't been electrocuted, struck by lightning, or involved in a car accident...

He just woke up and was here.

That memory was from the original owner of this body.

The original owner's name was Andrew, a wanderer and a Professional.

Xu Duantong looked at his current appearance: his clothes were tattered, his skin was black and yellow in patches, and he didn't know how many days it had been since he last bathed. He couldn't smell much, probably because he was used to the smell.

Xu Duantong felt a sense of despair.

Because he knew from the memories what kind of situation this world was in.

It was simply a world of despair! A world on the brink of destruction!

Countless evil creatures roamed outside.

He was just an ordinary person... Oh, although the original owner of this body was a Professional, from his memories, he wasn't a powerful Professional; one could say he was useless.

Of course, as a Professional, even a trashy one was dozens of times stronger than an ordinary person.

But this wasn't something Xu Duantong could be proud of... because if he were thrown out, he probably couldn't even defeat one evil creature, and he hadn't inherited the original owner's combat experience, nor was he a native of this place.

Coming from a peaceful world to such a world of slaughter, destruction, and despair, how could he possibly adapt!

If he went out, he would die!
