823: Chapter 823 I Want to Join!

"Of course you can." Kingpin nodded without much expression and began to recount his story, though by the end, he was clearly enraged.

After listening, Peter roughly understood.

To put it simply, the world was too chaotic right now, with various factions and all sorts of superpowered individuals flying everywhere.

Although Kingpin was said to be the Emperor of the New York Underground World, in the end, he was still just a human.

Of course, he could hardly be considered human anymore.

He possessed the Peak of human strength, and his muscular build was already beyond ridiculous.

His normal strength could exceed ten tons.

Think about it: a monster 2 meters tall, weighing 200 kilograms, 90% of which was muscle, possessing Peak human physical capabilities (10–20 ton class strength), top-tier fighting skills, and incredible durability; he even carried a cane that could fire lasers, smoke, or anesthetic gas.

He also controlled the vast Underground World.

Such a figure, placed in any ordinary world, would be simply incredible!

Unfortunately, this was Marvel, and a hodgepodge Marvel World at that, with a collapsed plot to boot.

Kingpin could truly only be considered a nobody on the side of the road.

Yet, such a "nobody" was something countless ordinary people could never hope to reach; not even a hundredth of his status was attainable for them.

Kingpin was also quite unlucky. Although he ruled New York's Underground World, he was whipped around like a spinning top, often as an afterthought.

The military whipped him once, S.H.I.E.L.D. whipped him once, and when Sentinel Services was capturing Mutants, they whipped him along the way too...

Kingpin seemed like the Emperor of the Underground World, but in reality, he was indeed like a nobody on the street—anyone passing by would give him a slap.

He could endure just that much.

But what he couldn't stand most was that when he tried to "counterattack," the military actually used his family to threaten him, even claiming he was nothing but a dog, a maggot in the dark underground.

"Killing you is something we can do anytime, anywhere!"

He could tolerate being insulted like that, but when his wife was threatened, he could no longer hold back.

Thus, he learned about the Akatsuki Organization, which was in direct conflict with the military and had decent strength on the surface.

Plus, according to the information he recently gathered, the military still hadn't found where the Akatsuki Organization was located. With Tony Stark acting as a shield on the surface, the military was simply fuming with incompetent rage.

Seeing this, Kingpin was secretly enjoying it; he was laughing his head off!

If the military was miserable, he was happy.

After all, he was the Underground Emperor, and Peter was a superhero who had direct "conflicts" with him.

After finding out that Spider-Man was a member of the Akatsuki Organization, he developed some ideas.

He knew deep down that in this increasingly blurred world... his so-called status as Underground Emperor was truly not worth mentioning.

If you can't beat them, join them!

It was also for a better future!

For his wife!

No matter how strong he was, he was still an ordinary human in the end.

It was difficult for him to guarantee his wife's safety, especially against those behemoths.

The military, S.H.I.E.L.D., Sentinel Services... he didn't even know how to deal with their agents alone!

Under such pressure, could he really guarantee his wife's safety?

He knew clearly—he couldn't! Even if he had some confidence, anything less than 100% was as good as no confidence at all!

He couldn't afford to gamble!

He couldn't gamble, yet he faced such threats.

Restless, Kingpin finally made a direct decision!

I'll just join the damn Akatsuki Organization, and that'll be that!

For this Akatsuki Organization that left the America military in incompetent rage and unable to find them, and which possessed great strength on the surface with all its superpowered members, Kingpin didn't feel he would lose out by choosing to join.

He currently knew quite a bit of intelligence; as far as he knew, the Akatsuki Organization already had Iron Man, Spider-Man, and a Mutant.

If nothing else, having just Iron Man with his technology and wealth made them far stronger than most organizations.

And no matter how you looked at it, Tony certainly wasn't the "Boss," which meant the Akatsuki Organization had someone else in charge.

There was also an unknown, formidable existence that could make this Young Master submit and willingly work for them.

No matter how Kingpin calculated it, he didn't think it was a losing deal.

Instead, what he had to worry about now was whether such an existence would be willing to take in a so-called Underground World Emperor like him.

So Kingpin's most basic request, his bottom line, was to obtain a Protective Bracelet, even if he had to pay a heavy price or even act as a dog for the other party.

For the safety of his beloved, he was willing.

"I won't act as a middleman; you guys talk." Peter Parker turned on a communicator and handed it to Kingpin, gesturing for him to speak with his team leader.

The team leader was Tony, and the boss was Clarissa.

Tony had just asked Clarissa about this, and her meaning was that it was up to them; it didn't matter to her.

Clarissa still maintained that indifferent attitude.

Tony could understand, because to Clarissa, the Akatsuki Organization itself was just a trivial pursuit.

However, for various reasons, this entity was also being swept along, constantly rolling forward.

Clarissa, on the other hand, was relaxed; after all, she was the greatest source of confidence, the biggest backer, and the strongest force.

Do as you wish; if I'm unhappy, I'll just cut it all off—whether it's destruction or starting over, it's just a matter of whether she wants to or not.

Having figured this out, Tony acted much more boldly, even treating the Akatsuki Organization as his own "one-man show"—of course, the kind where he was the boss as long as the real boss didn't care.

"Hello Kingpin, I've heard of you," Tony's voice rang out.

"Hello, the famous Tony, Iron Man!" Kingpin also responded politely.

"Your request is actually just a member benefit in the Akatsuki Organization. Especially things like Protective Bracelets for family members; these are all provided by the organization for free. The purpose is to let members work for the organization with peace of mind and no worries," Tony said to Kingpin, his words making Kingpin's breathing grow heavy.

"However, high benefits mean high requirements."

"I can understand that," Kingpin immediately replied. This was very normal and to be expected; otherwise, he would be the same way.

Regardless of anything else, even if you were being used, there were corresponding chips involved.

If a person didn't even have the value to be used, then they were truly pure trash.

"I wonder, Mr. Kingpin, what do you have that is worth the Akatsuki Organization recruiting you?" Tony asked Kingpin.

Kingpin thought for a moment: "I control the Underground World of New York. I can hand over all my forces, including money and so on, to the organization without compensation. As for myself, although I may not be as useful as those superpowered individuals, I can handle many dirty and tiring jobs.

Moreover, other factions currently don't know this, so I can also act as a hidden chess piece. Everything will be based on the will of the Akatsuki Organization!"

"Hmm~ you've actually somewhat convinced me!" Tony said to Kingpin after thinking for a bit. In fact, he didn't have that much to ask; he was simply "showing off."

He and the others had already discussed Kingpin's joining and had decided they could definitely recruit him.
