760: Chapter 760 The First Hand: Clarissa Wants to Make Some Trouble in the Marvel Universe

After a while, a car drove over and stopped in front of them; Agent Coulson opened the door and stepped out.

"Clarissa." Agent Coulson nodded slightly to Clarissa and then glanced at Lorna beside her.

As an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., he naturally knew about the existence of Mutant and also knew that Lorna was a target being watched by Sentinel Services.

Now... she had been intercepted by S.H.I.E.L.D. Although she wasn't under their direct jurisdiction, she was at least affiliated with S.H.I.E.L.D.

He had requested instructions from the Director. Nick Fury was quite frustrated, but he still agreed.

At the same time, he thought that with this connection, they might even be able to utilize it and borrow Clarice's power.

As for Sentinel Services? They would definitely come knocking for an explanation.

It didn't matter; this matter would depend on Nick Fury's methods!

Besides, it was just one Mutant, after all.

"Mm, you're here. Let's go, get in the car." Clarissa called out to Lorna, then opened the back door and sat inside; Lorna quickly followed.

Agent Coulson drove personally. After sitting in the driver's seat, he reached out and picked up a file from the passenger seat, handing it to Clarissa in the back: "The identity has been processed. From now on, she is a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, but her job will be specifically responsible for everything concerning you."

"Mm, thanks for the trouble." Clarissa accepted the file with satisfaction, flipped through it casually, and then handed the file along with the identification documents inside to Lorna: "This will be your identity from now on."

"Mm!" Lorna took it and nodded heavily.

She hadn't expected that after all the twists and turns, her life would turn out like this.

Agent Coulson said jokingly: "Snatching someone from the hands of Sentinel Services is quite thrilling. As for the follow-up matters, let our Director deal with the headache, hahaha! I'm just an employee."

"Makes sense. With great power comes great responsibility; since he's the Director, he naturally has to stand at the front." Clarissa nodded with a smile, clearly understanding Agent Coulson's meaning.

Hearing this, Lorna looked at Clarissa and then at Agent Coulson, but didn't say anything.

She thought of her companions and wondered how they were doing now after escaping.

As for Eclipse? She only had a bit of affection for him now, but even that affection was hard to say much about at this point.

Moreover, while her current status was said to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, in reality, she was Clarissa's maid, and to put it more bluntly, she was the other's trophy.

To be safe, she didn't dare to cross Clarissa at all, let alone make more demands.

If Clarissa became unhappy, she didn't know if life would be hard for Mutant in general, but Lorna knew her companions would definitely have a very hard time immediately.

Sentinel Services alone was enough of a headache, chasing them all over the world and causing countless deaths and injuries.

If another organization called S.H.I.E.L.D., which sounded like it could snatch people and arm-wrestle with Sentinel Services, was added... they might as well not live.

They weren't like those top-tier Mutant organizations, such as the Brotherhood of Mutants or the Mutant School.

And those two were two extremes.

On the surface, they seemed quite prestigious, but in reality, their lives weren't easy either.

Lorna shook her head slightly. In her weakened state, thinking so much made her feel a deep sense of fatigue. Coupled with having narrowly escaped death, she relaxed and, in a daze, fell asleep leaning against the car door.

Let future days take care of themselves...

When she opened her eyes again, she saw a bright ceiling.

"Ugh... where is this..." Lorna squinted and sat up. She rubbed her slightly throbbing forehead and looked at where she was; it seemed to be a bedroom.

"Come out once you're awake." A familiar voice came from outside.

As if her memory had awakened, Lorna recalled everything that had happened before.

Oh, she was a maid now.

Lorna hurriedly got out of bed, walked out of the bedroom, and saw Clarissa sitting in the living room drinking tea.

"How was your rest?" Clarissa asked Lorna.

"Not bad." Lorna nodded. It was a rare occasion for her to sleep so comfortably.

"What do you need me to do? Let me say this first, I don't know how to do anything except use my ability." Lorna shrugged and said: "If you want me to serve tea and water, just don't despise me for being clumsy."

"That won't be necessary." Clarissa waved her hand. As an esteemed Princess, what kind of service had she not enjoyed?

Moreover, she generally didn't care for those things. A few life conveniences were fine if they were there, and fine if they weren't.

Strength was the foundation; these were not the things she pursued.

"I only took you in to conduct an experiment. At the same time, I want to get some subordinates of my own in this world to make things easier to handle," Clarissa said to Lorna.

Her source points had surged quite a bit. Although it wasn't much compared to what she currently held, it was still a considerable amount.

Little did she know that the "electronic pet" being "raised" by their Cross-World Group was struggling in the apocalypse, and even now, their source points were only in the hundreds.

Clarissa could easily harvest tens of thousands more source points than that "electronic pet."

Although earning source points in the Marvel World was relatively slow, the quantity was still significant, and this was just the beginning.

The mature place for earning source points was in Ono World; one just had to go there and kill, kill, kill.

But all of this was based on strength.

It had to be said, Ono World was truly a major producer of source points! A proper monster spawner.

"Mm..." Lorna nodded after hearing Clarissa's words, but she still didn't know what she was supposed to do.

"You don't need to do anything. When there's nothing going on, you can just live here in peace." Clarissa glanced at Lorna and said: "Here, these are the keys to the house. This apartment was rented for me by a friend. Oh right, as it happens, we're going to Peter's house as guests this afternoon. You'll come along too. I'll take the opportunity to introduce some people to you. Also, come with me to a party tonight."

"Okay." Lorna nodded, then said with some embarrassment: "For the party... do I need to prepare a formal dress or something?"

She was truly a bit short on cash.

"That won't be necessary, but you did remind me. Here is fifty thousand dollars. Take it for your living expenses; consider it your allowance." Clarissa took out a stack of green bills and placed them on the table, speaking to Lorna.

Lorna's eyes widened. Fifty thousand dollars! Just placed in front of her like that. When had she ever fought such a "wealthy" battle!

It couldn't be helped. Their lives could be summarized in one sentence: no legal identity, no decent job, no stable residence, everyone on the run, barely surviving by relying on underground networks and abilities.

They were fugitives at the bottom of society, exhausting all their strength just to stay alive, so "having money" was out of the question.

Daily life and getting money depended on: Blink relying on portals to steal food from supermarkets or convenience stores, which was also a vital source of daily supplies for the organization.

Eclipse, Lorna, and Thunderbird occasionally robbed gangs, stole from other criminals, or attacked banks and corporations associated with anti-mutant organizations.

The underground organization had a small amount of anonymous donations and mutant mutual aid funds, but it was a drop in the bucket.

In one word: miserable!

If not for their abilities, they would have entered the execution range countless times already.
