105: The Secret Past of the Tomb Raiders and the Mountain Guardians
After hearing their question, the Ghost shook its head slightly.
"They weren't tomb robbers; they were Mojin Captains and some Heavenly Official of Grave Opening..."
One of the Ghosts informed them of the identities it had overheard.
Ye Bai's expression remained unchanged, but internally he was quite speechless.
Aren't Mojin Captains and Heavenly Officials of Grave Opening still just Tomb Robbers? It's just a nicer-sounding title.
"Heavenly Official of Grave Opening? Mojin Captain? Are these ancient official titles? They sound quite majestic."
Wu Jing couldn't help but mutter under his breath after hearing this.
He had never heard these names before.
But from the literal meaning, they did seem like titles for some sort of official position.
"No, they aren't official titles; they are Tomb Robbers."
Ye Bai was the first to speak up.
"Ye Bai, you know again? How do you know they're Tomb Robbers? These names sound exactly like official titles!"
Upon hearing Ye Bai's words, Hua Chenyu disagreed somewhat. With titles like 'Captain' and 'Heavenly Official,' what were they if not officials?
He looked at him with a deep frown.
"Mojin, Fa Qiu, Mountain-Moving, and Mountain-Splitting—these are the four elite lineages of the Tomb Robbing Sect."
"The Mojin Captains originated in the Eastern Han Dynasty. It was a position established by Cao Cao to make up for the lack of military funds, specifically for the purpose of robbing Tombs."
"They are skilled in 'Dividing Gold and Fixing the Point,' observing the stars and the earth's meridians to determine the location of Ancient Tombs."
"The techniques of the Heavenly Officials of Grave Opening are very similar to the Mojin Captains, but the Fa Qiu Lineage possesses a 'Heavenly Seal of Fa Qiu.' The Fa Qiu Lineage is the one that has had the most contact with official authorities."
"The Mountain-Moving Taoists are skilled in 'Digger Armor' and the 'Art of Moving Mountains and Filling Seas.' They specialize in disarming Tomb mechanisms and formations."
"The Mountain-Splitting Warriors rely on brute strength and their network; the more people they have, the more powerful they are. They can hollow out a mountain in a single night and are best at using gunpowder and earth cannons."
It was rare for Ye Bai to take the initiative to explain matters regarding the Tomb Robbing Sect.
Yang Mi, Wu Jing, Zhang Dada, and the others were all incredibly shocked by Ye Bai's words.
Who would have thought that Tomb robbing had so many intricacies and identities?
But how did Ye Bai know this?
Do they teach this in university?
No way, right?
Is this university that bizarre? How could they teach everything?
While everyone was in shock, Ye Bai's voice rang out again.
Ye Bai looked at the Vengeful Spirits. "When was the last time you saw those people?"
"Over a hundred and thirty years ago."
One of the Vengeful Spirits said hurriedly.
"So they were people from the Qing Dynasty?"
Yang Mi was extremely sensitive to numbers and immediately deduced the dynasty after hearing the years.
"It was likely the descendants of the Mojin Captains and the Fa Qiu Lineage who came here to rob the Tomb."
Wu Jing felt this was very likely. Could they have come here specifically for Tomb robbing?
"They came here to find a certain treasure, but I don't know what that treasure is. I only heard them talking about it."
"Besides them, there was another group of people, many capable and extraordinary individuals. They called themselves Mountain Overseeing Protectors. It seemed they had a leader named Feng Shigu."
"They went in and never came back. Not a single living soul came out."
The Ghosts revealed all the information they knew.
Their goal was to stop Ye Bai from entering. If even those powerful people didn't come out, they would surely be doomed if they went in.
"Who are the Mountain Overseeing Protectors? What kind of names are these? They sound so strange."
This was the first time Wu Jing had heard these terms; he was truly gaining new knowledge today.
"The Mountain Overseeing Protectors are the enemies of the Mojin Captains and the Fa Qiu Lineage."
"They were the primary force responsible for hunting down the Mojin and Fa Qiu Lineages."
At this moment, Ye Bai didn't quite understand. Why would these two mortal enemies be together?
What could possibly be inside this Tomb that would make them enter together, even setting aside their past grievances... Ye Bai's face remained calm, but his mind was filled with mysteries.
"Feng Shigu? I feel like I've heard that name somewhere?"
Yang Mi frowned and spoke up suspiciously.
"Sister Mi, think carefully. Do you remember something?"
Reba hurriedly looked at her upon hearing this.
This matter was very important.
Yang Mi was silent for a moment, then suddenly looked at Ye Bai.
"Could it be..."
"...that Feng Family from Fengmen Village?"
Ye Bai nodded.
"Fengmen Village? It couldn't be that Ghost village, could it?"
Huang Zitao was very familiar with that village. It was famous for being terrifying; who in all of Great Xia didn't know of the horrors of Fengmen Village?
"Yes. There is a Grandmaster's Chair in the village. According to rumors, the founder of Fengmen Village was Feng Shigu, and the entire village was made up of the Feng Family, including direct and collateral branches."
"The village has been around for many years. It seems the stories about Fengmen Village being haunted suddenly appeared during the Qing Dynasty."
"The entire village perished overnight, and that's when the rumors of the Ghost village started spreading."
"Could this village be related to Feng Shigu's disappearance?"
Yang Mi had once seen records and legends about the village and only knew that Feng Shigu was the most prestigious figure there.
But she never expected that Feng Shigu was actually the leader of the Mountain Overseeing Protectors, let alone that he would come here to rob a Tomb... Yang Mi felt the situation was becoming a bit of a brain-burner; she could hardly handle this 'shock.'
After hearing Yang Mi's explanation, Reba, Bai Lu, Meng Ziyi, and Yang Chaoyue were all stunned.
How did this get connected to Fengmen Village?
And those Mountain Overseeing Protectors... a Tomb Robber and someone who catches Tomb Robbers, robbing a Tomb together?
Does this count as being in cahoots?
Zhang Dada, Hua Chenyu, and Wu Jing swallowed hard with difficulty.
They weren't interested in these identities; rather, they felt terror and dread toward this Tomb.
Those were the ancestors of Tomb robbing!
Regardless of their identities, their skills must have been beyond question, right?
These were ancestral skills; how could they be underestimated?
Even they didn't make it out alive, so what would happen if they went in?
They couldn't go in; they absolutely could not go in.
The entire Passage fell into a bizarre silence.
Meanwhile, in the Live Stream Room—
[Holy crap! I'm really learning something today. Is all of this true? I feel like I've entered another world. Tomb Robbers have such high-status identities?]
[Little brother Ye Bai is really amazing! He knows so much!]
[Wow! These are all knowledge points! I used to doubt little brother Ye Bai, but now I believe him. Whatever he says is true, there's no doubt about it.]
[My god! Mojin Captains, Heavenly Officials of Grave Opening, and Mountain Overseeing Protectors—what is all this? I suddenly feel like an idiot! I don't understand anything!]
[But I don't understand, what does this have to do with the Mountain Overseeing Protectors? And how did they get linked to Fengmen Village? I'm totally confused!]
[No, no, no!! I'm more curious about one thing: what kind of treasure is inside that made them all go in together?]
