220: This is just a small ancient tomb, but everyone here is a big shot.
She lay quietly on the Stone Platform, lips pursed, looking serene as if she were merely asleep.
"Who is she?" Zhang Dada asked curiously.
"I don't know. I only heard people call her Your Highness." Yang Mi replied.
"Could it be..." Zhang Dada's eyes widened as he muttered to himself, "Is she the legendary Queen of the Yellow Springs?"
Ye Bai shook his head, denying it, "No, this is Your Highness's younger sister."
"So it is Your Highness's younger sister," Zhang Dada said, relieved.
Ye Bai said, "No matter who is buried here, we must kill her first!"
"Mm." Yang Mi nodded in agreement, then she gripped the Short Sword at her waist and rushed toward the young girl.
"Are you crazy? She's a living person right now!"
"A living person?" Yang Mi paused. She looked up and sure enough, saw pale green ghost fire burning in the young girl's eye sockets. Startled, Yang Mi retreated repeatedly, hiding behind Ye Bai.
Ye Bai said, "It's fine. Although she is a ghost, due to special reasons, she has been preserved in her current state forever. She has no offensive capabilities."
"I see."
Yang Mi breathed a sigh of relief. She raised her Short Sword and slashed hard at the young girl's arm.
Fresh blood splattered across Yang Mi's face.
However, the young girl showed no signs of resistance at all. She even stared at Yang Mi with a bewildered gaze, as if asking, "Why are you hurting me?"
"She's so pitiful..." Yang Mi sighed.
Ye Bai stepped forward and smashed his fist into the young girl's head. Instantly, shattered Skull fragments and internal organs poured out from her head, scattering into every corner of the Tomb Chamber.
Yang Mi was extremely astonished. She had thought Ye Bai would kill Your Highness's sister, but instead, he had directly destroyed her body. In that case, wouldn't they be unable to find any clues?
Yang Mi hurriedly walked to Ye Bai's side, tugging on his sleeve and saying, "Hey, what about her? Aren't you afraid of Corpse Reanimation?"
Ye Bai glanced at her and retorted casually, "Please, do you take me for a fool? In this situation, even if Corpse Reanimation actually happened, it would definitely be a moron!"
Yang Mi: "..."
"Fine, I admit you're very smart." Yang Mi rolled her eyes. "Since she's completely dead, let's hurry to other places to find clues."
"Let's go!" Ye Bai followed Yang Mi.
In this long Passage, they encountered more corpses, each conveying different information. At first, Ye Bai just scanned them briefly and then casually told Yang Mi which era these corpses were from and when they died, while Yang Mi listened carefully to every word.
They walked all the way to the depths and finally reached the end.
Here was a large altar. In the center of the altar was an ugly-looking Skull. On top of the Skull's head was a face, covered in dense wrinkles with sunken eye sockets. The Skull's arms and neck were an abnormal grayish-black, as if they had lost their moisture. The skin all over its body was shriveled and atrophied, as if it had lost all its vitality.
"Could this be... the Necromancer?" Yang Mi asked, suspicious and uncertain.
"It should be." Ye Bai nodded.
Yang Mi stepped forward and tentatively touched the Skull. The Skull instantly vanished into the air, turning into a wisp of smoke that drifted slowly.
"So powerful?" Yang Mi clicked her tongue. "How much lifespan must one have to Cultivate to this extent?"
"I don't know." Ye Bai shook his head. "But it looks like the Necromancer has no signs of resurrection... Let's go wander around somewhere else."
Yang Mi let out an "Oh" and followed behind Ye Bai as they walked forward. Her feet stepped on dead branches and rotten leaves, making a rustling sound. The two followed the Passage, passing through a long corridor, and arrived at another spacious Tomb Chamber.
Around the Tomb Chamber, many stone coffins and wooden cabinets were placed.
Ye Bai stood in the center of the Tomb Chamber, looking left and right. Suddenly, he heard a faint, intermittent sound of weeping. He turned his head to look and saw, on the north side of the Tomb Chamber, near the wall, an oddly protruding rock.
At the bottom of the rock, a row of small characters was carved.
Ye Bai walked over, bent down, and leaned in to look.
【Tomb Chamber】
【Those who enter this tomb are all Tomb Robbers. I advise everyone to return quickly; do not covet the treasures and lose your lives here.】
【Do not destroy the stone coffins. The stone coffins are Funerary Objects from Ancient Egypt, containing hundreds of precious treasures of inestimable value.】
【Tomb Robbers, you will receive severe punishment!】
Ye Bai narrowed his eyes and thought to himself: No wonder the Necromancer didn't attack us earlier; it seems it mistook us for its own kind, or mistakenly thought we were some Tomb Robbers...
"Eh? What are these characters?" Yang Mi squatted down next to Ye Bai and saw the text on the Tombstone.
【These stone coffins and wooden cabinets all have special curse effects; you had best stay away from them.】 Yang Mi read, "What kind of nonsense is this? Could it be that these stone coffins are a mechanism?"
"You guessed right; this is indeed a mechanism." Ye Bai pointed to the side of the stone slab and said, "Look here—there is a line of small text."
"What is it?" Yang Mi stepped forward and leaned in to look.
Ye Bai said, "There is a Seal on the Coffin Lid and the coffin boards of these stone coffins. This Seal has defensive functions; unless you use violent means, it is impossible to open them. If you use violence, it will detonate the Seal. Therefore, the only way is to use a key."
"A key... what is it?"
Ye Bai explained, "I just observed that only the coffins in the entire Tomb Chamber are intact, and the Seals on the Coffin Lid and the coffin boards are quite firm, obviously having had magic applied to them. And since there is only one woman, the Princess, in this Mausoleum, it is only necessary to use magic to open the coffins."
Yang Mi nodded and exclaimed admiringly, "You're amazing! You figured all these things out..."
Ye Bai shrugged, "It's nothing; I've seen these things in Ancient Books."
The two circled the Stone Chamber for another half turn. Suddenly, Yang Mi noticed a few withered vines in the corner, with many black-purple ants crawling on them. She reached out and grabbed one of the vines, then suddenly flung it toward the other side. The end of the vine had a few poisonous thorns, which pierced fiercely into the gap between the stone bricks. Immediately after, the stone bricks exploded, revealing a Cave inside.
Yang Mi tugged on Ye Bai's sleeve and said, "Let's go, let's go in and take a look."
The two crawled into the Cave together.
After walking in the Passage for a moment, the view suddenly opened up.
This Cave was large, enough to accommodate three or four adult men. At the end of the Cave was a huge bronze ding. The surface of the bronze ding was covered with thick metallic paint, mottled with rust.
The ding was about nine feet tall, narrow at the top and wide at the bottom. Intricate patterns were carved on the belly of the ding, and the mouth of the ding was over three feet wide, with a mass of black mist inside. The black mist churned, condensing into clumps of hideous ghost shadows, emitting painful and shrill howls.
