231: The all-around pentagon warrior, it has to be you.

Meng Ziyi pursed her lips and said nothing more.

"Click..." A strange noise suddenly came from between the stone walls. The group followed the sound and looked, only to see a pair of bloody feet appear on the Stone Steps ahead. Those feet had distinct bones and, having been soaked in blood for years, looked exceptionally hideous.

Ye Bai's pupils constricted sharply.

The appearance of these feet was too eerie, making him feel a chill down his spine.

Almost at the same time: with a soft "pop," the toenails sprang open. A thick, foul smell of blood rushed into their nostrils, inducing nausea.

Meng Ziyi immediately screamed out: "Ah!"

Yang Mi hurriedly covered her mouth.

At this moment, those bloody feet suddenly lifted and landed at the very bottom of the Stone Steps. A pale, withered old face appeared before everyone's eyes.

This was a withered Skull, its skin full of wrinkles, looking like dried orange peel. Its lips were bluish-purple, and a pair of eerie green flames burned in its hollow eye sockets, making one shudder.

"Holy crap!" Meng Ziyi shouted, turned around, and ran.

Ye Bai quickly caught up to her and pulled her back into the safety zone.

"I didn't mean it just now, I really didn't mean it." Meng Ziyi said with a miserable face.

Ye Bai glanced at her and said coldly: "Shut up." He squatted in front of the Skull, examining the characteristics of its various body parts.

This Skull was not an ordinary human; its body was perfectly preserved, without any traces of decay, as if it had died not long ago.

Ye Bai's heartbeat accelerated suddenly.

Is this... a zombie?

He had once encountered something called a zombie, which could control living things and had formidable attack power. He remembered killing a few zombies, two of which had incomplete bodies. Could this Skull in front of him also be a zombie?

Ye Bai extended his index finger and probed into the eye socket of the Skull. This Skull had no breath and no heartbeat.

Meng Ziyi asked: "What is it?"

"It's dead, truly dead." Ye Bai said.

"Really dead?" Meng Ziyi leaned in: "How are you sure?"

"Although this Skull's head isn't broken, it lacks eyeballs, so it won't blink." Ye Bai pointed to the Skull's neck and said: "Look closely, there is a distinct groove here. I suspect this Skull's eyes should be embedded here."

Meng Ziyi followed Ye Bai's finger and observed carefully. She noticed the groove and couldn't help but click her tongue: "Amazing, even with an eye embedded in the wall, it can still remain intact."

"You don't understand." Ye Bai said: "A zombie's skeletal structure is different from a human's, so their skeletons are extremely sturdy, far exceeding steel."

At this moment, a crisp "crack" sound came from the ceiling of the Stone Chamber, seemingly the sound of a mechanism being triggered. Immediately after, countless stalactites burst out from all directions, piercing straight into the ground.

Meng Ziyi screamed in fright and dodged desperately, but was still pierced in the calf by several Stone Pillars, howling in pain.

"Quiet." Ye Bai commanded, then raised his arm, gathered his spiritual power, and brandished his Demon-Slaying Sword to cut off three Stone Pillars. Yang Mi also drew her short Dagger and fought hard to smash the remaining two.

At this moment, the Stone Chamber completely collapsed, smoke and dust filled the air, and visibility was obstructed. The three of them rushed out of the Cave. Meng Ziyi covered the wound on her calf, moaning in pain: "Ouch... it hurts so much..."

Yang Mi supported Meng Ziyi and asked anxiously: "Are you alright?"

"I'm okay, just lost a bit of blood." Meng Ziyi waved her hand and said: "We need to leave here quickly. This place is eerie and terrifying; it would be troublesome if we ran into ghosts or monsters."

"Hmm." Yang Mi supported Meng Ziyi as they returned along the original path. After walking for a distance, they suddenly felt chest tightness and shortness of breath, making it difficult to breathe. Ye Bai also felt his body gradually becoming heavy.

Meng Ziyi said in surprise: "We've been trapped by miasma. This place really has something fishy about it; it's fortunate we escaped in time."

Ye Bai said: "I smell a faint fragrance in the air, like the scent of flowers or sandalwood."

Yang Mi asked: "What kind of fragrance is that?"

"I don't know."

Yang Mi sighed: "It seems we are in for bad luck."

"Who's to say otherwise." Meng Ziyi also looked distressed.

"Don't be afraid, let's find a Cave first to expel the miasma, then slowly think of a way to leave." Ye Bai said.

"It's a pity we didn't bring any medicine." Meng Ziyi sighed: "If we had known, we should have prepared some anti-poison pills..."

"It doesn't matter." Ye Bai interrupted her: "As long as there is enough Yang Qi, there won't be a problem."

Yang Mi approved: "Brother Ye is right. Both of you stay by my side, and definitely don't leave me."

Meng Ziyi and Ye Bai supported each other and slowly moved forward.

At this moment, they saw a faint light ahead.

"It's a light source!" Meng Ziyi said in surprise: "We are saved!"

"Don't be happy too soon." Ye Bai said: "I always feel there is danger ahead..."

Before he finished speaking, the rock wall in front collapsed with a roar, and a wave of scorching heat rushed toward them. Meng Ziyi and Yang Mi retreated two steps.

They saw countless flames as thick as fire snakes rushing out from the rock wall, forming a huge ball of fire that billowed incessantly, illuminating everything around.

Ye Bai immediately took out his sunglasses and put them on.

These sunglasses were one of the protective pieces of equipment provided by the military to every soldier. They could block the scorching sun and hot temperatures, and also isolate the miasma.

Ye Bai was originally worried about not having suitable tools, but soon he realized he was worrying needlessly. He took out a strong anti-inflammatory spray and aimed it at the cracks in the rock wall, spraying.

Subsequently, those scorching fire snakes became dim and lusterless.

"Brother Ye, you are truly a deity!" Meng Ziyi looked at Ye Bai with admiration.

Ye Bai shook his head and smiled: "This isn't any deity, it's just using a bit of technological means. I've heard that there are many extraordinary people in this world who can fly through the sky and burrow into the earth, move mountains and fill seas..."

Meng Ziyi was stunned and asked: "Brother Ye, you aren't an alien detective sent by some company, are you? You aren't trying to investigate some Treasure Trove left behind by a secret Universe civilization, are you?"

Ye Bai laughed out loud and ruffled her hair.

Yang Mi also smiled, but her smile was slightly bleak: "If only there really were alien detectives. Unfortunately... I reckon we are going to be buried in a sea of fire again today..."

Ye Bai said sternly: "Don't talk nonsense, I can save you."

"You have a way?" Meng Ziyi asked in surprise: "Didn't you say these miasmas have already eroded our bodies?"

Ye Bai smiled slightly and said: "My body is quite special."

"Oh? Are you like those in the Wuxia movies, having mastered the Golden Bell Shield and Iron Cloth Shirt?" Meng Ziyi asked, half-believing: "Is there really such kung fu?"

"No matter what kind of kung fu it is, I can solve this crisis anyway." Ye Bai said.

Yang Mi whispered: "Brother Ye, don't push yourself."

Ye Bai smiled and said nothing.

The three of them arrived in front of the Stone Platform, and Meng Ziyi said excitedly: "Look, there's writing!"
