333: It's just a small favor? You can't just help anyone.
Ye Bai looked warily at the glowing green parchment scroll: "What item? We don't want anything more to do with this place."
The aged voice seemed to chuckle: "This is but a simple favor for you. In the northwest corner of this Stone Chamber, there is a loose floor tile. Beneath it is a small box. Take it with you."
Ye Bai hesitated, looking at Meng Ziyi and Yang Mi; both had fear and hesitation in their eyes. At that moment, the Live Stream Room had already exploded with activity.
"Streamer, don't listen to him, this is too eerie."
"I feel like something big is about to happen, run!"
"I heard that things in this kind of Ancient Tomb are tainted with evil energy; you can't just touch them."
Ye Bai grit his teeth: "Let's see what it is first. If something feels wrong, we'll leave."
He slowly walked toward the northwest corner of the Stone Chamber, squatting down to feel around. Sure enough, he found a floor tile that was somewhat loose. With a forceful pry, an exquisite small box appeared before his eyes.
The box was covered in strange runes, similar to the runes on the walls of the Tomb Chamber earlier.
Ye Bai picked up the box, feeling a chill to the touch. Before he could speak, the voice rang out again: "Open it."
"No, we can't listen to him anymore."
Meng Ziyi cried out, her face pale and her body trembling slightly. The Live Stream Room's camera was pointed right at her, and the viewers could see the terror in her eyes as the bullet comments scrolled frantically.
"Goddess Meng, don't be afraid!"
"Streamer, take them and leave quickly!"
Yang Mi also nodded from the side: "Ye Bai, this thing is too sinister. Let's go."
Ye Bai raised an eyebrow, put the box back into his pack, and then pulled Meng Ziyi: "Stay close to me." He led the two of them toward the exit.
The voice shouted from behind: "You cannot leave. You must stay, otherwise everyone here will die..."
"I don't care about you! I only know we need to survive!" Meng Ziyi's shrill voice echoed in the cavernous cave.
Suddenly, her foot stepped on a hard object, scaring her into an immediate halt.
Ye Bai turned to look and found several pitch-black iron nails. Glancing down, he discovered that the iron nails were all embedded within the floor tiles; they would be impossible to find without a careful search.
Ye Bai looked up and saw that the ceiling of the Stone Chamber was densely covered with such iron nails.
His heart skipped a beat, and he immediately pulled the two of them to continue retreating.
"Ye Bai, what's wrong?" Meng Ziyi asked fearfully.
"These iron nails are very dangerous!" Ye Bai replied, breaking into a cold sweat. He looked around and found no way out, so he pulled Meng Ziyi and the other toward another fork in the path.
The voice called out urgently: "Don't go!"
"Ye Bai, they seem to be trapped where they are," Yang Mi said anxiously.
Ye Bai looked at the voice drawing closer behind them, then at Meng Ziyi and Yang Mi by his side.
He grit his teeth and said, "Stay here, I'll come back for you."
After saying that, he turned back, but after only two steps, he crashed into a thick, heavy wall.
Ye Bai clutched his nose, cursing inwardly.
"Shit!"
"Hey, kid, don't waste your energy. You can't get out."
The voice said gloatingly, "Hahahaha—" He seemed extremely smug.
Ye Bai rubbed his temples: "Even if I can't get out, it's better than staying here with an old geezer like you."
With that, he kicked the wall several times, but it remained as solid as if it had roots, not moving an inch. Ye Bai panted heavily, veins bulging on his forehead, clearly exhausted.
He looked around, his gaze finally settling on the stone coffin.
Ye Bai stared at the stone coffin for a long time before finally making a decision. He bent down to lift the stone coffin, laid it on the ground, and then took out an entrenching shovel from his backpack.
Then, Ye Bai took a deep breath and gripped the shovel, digging with all his might.
After a while, he pried up the cover of the stone coffin.
Ye Bai stared into the stone coffin with bated breath. He swallowed hard and leaned his head into the stone coffin to see what was lying inside.
The inside of the stone coffin was as quiet as before; there was nothing.
Unwilling to give up, he frowned and pressed his ear against it, trying to hear any movement inside.
However, aside from the faint sound of wind and the vibration of the stone coffin itself, everything else was silent. He closed his eyes, letting his thoughts settle, and then opened them.
"You two, stay back," he instructed.
"Ye Bai, what are you doing? Don't scare me."
"Holy crap, Streamer, don't do anything reckless. It's not worth dying for those things."
"Damn! Streamer, what are you doing?"
...The Live Stream Room instantly exploded into a sea of activity, with all sorts of dissuasions and prayers. Some even said they should turn off the stream and prepare for his funeral.
Ye Bai curled his lips: "Do you think I'd do something reckless?"
"Of course not, you must be going treasure hunting!"
"Yeah, definitely!"
"No, no, are you trying to steal those gold and silver treasures?"
"Damn, damn! Streamer, you really have some guts, don't you want your life anymore?"
...Ye Bai smiled without explaining. He tossed the entrenching shovel aside, then reached out to press down on the Coffin Lid of the stone coffin, pushing with all his might—
With a bang, the stone coffin lid fell to the ground.
Ye Bai quickly pushed aside the Coffin Lid; it was empty inside. He frowned: "Did that voice lie to me?"
"Are you stupid? Who told you the gold and silver treasures were inside this stone coffin? Why don't you say the corpse hid them? Or maybe... you ate them?"
Someone in the bullet comments complained.
Ye Bai rolled his eyes and thought to himself: "You're the one who eats corpses."
"Then stop wasting time and leave as soon as possible. The magnetic field here is very chaotic; we can't stay for long."
Ye Bai stood up, brushed off his clothes, picked up the entrenching shovel, and handed it to Yang Mi: "This is a tool to prevent you from getting hurt. Use it carefully."
Yang Mi took the entrenching shovel and nodded: "Thank you."
Ye Bai didn't speak and walked straight ahead; Meng Ziyi quickly followed him.
Behind the stone coffin was a dark and narrow Passage, emitting a gloomy aura.
Ye Bai walked warily. Suddenly, a thick smell of blood wafted into his nose. He immediately frowned: "Don't breathe it in, there's a smell of blood." He covered Meng Ziyi's nose and mouth.
"Mm." Meng Ziyi nodded, signaling her understanding.
Ye Bai continued forward, turning a corner. Suddenly, a massive rock blocked the way in front of the three of them.
"What should we do?" Yang Mi asked worriedly. Although she was afraid, she was even more afraid that Meng Ziyi would be hurt.
Ye Bai rubbed his chin, and after thinking for a moment, he suddenly pulled Meng Ziyi behind him. He placed one hand on the rock and then leaped up—
"Ah—" Yang Mi was startled and cried out in terror.
Ye Bai followed through with a palm strike against the rock, and the entire rock shattered upon impact. He landed steadily, then waved to Yang Mi: "It's fine now, let's go."
Yang Mi breathed a sigh of relief and quickly followed him, her heart thumping rapidly.
