375: To work in this line of work, you need to be bold and meticulous.
As soon as Ye Bai finished speaking, a low humming sound suddenly erupted from the surroundings, as if some massive mechanism was in operation.
The three of them vigilantly stood back-to-back, scanning their surroundings.
"This sound is not right, everyone be careful." Ye Bai said in a low voice, his eyes as sharp as a hawk's.
Meng Ziyi grabbed the corner of Ye Bai's shirt tightly, her body trembling slightly: "Brother Ye Bai, I'm scared."
Although Yang Mi was also nervous, she still forced herself to remain calm: "Don't be afraid, Ye Bai is here."
Just then, the spring water began to churn violently, as if something was about to emerge from the bottom.
Ye Bai frowned tightly and pulled the two of them behind him.
Suddenly, a massive bronze claw extended from the spring water, followed by a gigantic bronze body; it was actually an ancient bronze beast.
"This... what kind of monster is this?" Yang Mi exclaimed.
"It looks like a mechanism beast guarding the Treasure Trove. It seems we have triggered the defensive mechanism here." As Ye Bai spoke, he took out an entrenching shovel from his backpack, preparing for battle.
The bronze beast's eyes flashed with an eerie red light as it opened its blood-thirsty maw and lunged at them.
Ye Bai seized the moment, dodged to the side, and then slammed the entrenching shovel hard against the beast's leg joints.
With a clang, the entrenching shovel sent a numbing vibration up Ye Bai's arm, but it successfully caused the beast to falter.
"Quick, find a chance to attack its eyes!" Ye Bai shouted.
Meng Ziyi picked up a stone and threw it toward the beast's eyes; although it didn't hit, it attracted its attention.
Yang Mi also picked up a branch and waved it from the side, trying to distract the beast.
Ye Bai seized the opportunity to circle behind the beast, jumped up fiercely, and used all his strength to stab the entrenching shovel into the back of the beast's neck.
The beast felt the pain and twisted its body frantically, causing Ye Bai to be thrown out and land heavily on the ground.
"Brother Ye Bai!" Meng Ziyi and Yang Mi hurriedly ran over.
"I'm fine, this thing is not easy to handle, we need to think of a way." Ye Bai wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.
They searched the surroundings for anything useful, and suddenly, Meng Ziyi discovered some strange symbols on the ground, somewhat similar to the runes they had seen before.
"Brother Ye Bai, look at these symbols." Meng Ziyi shouted.
Ye Bai walked over to study them carefully and realized that these symbols seemed to be clues for the mechanism controlling the beast.
Following the hints from the symbols, he found several indentations on a nearby stone wall and inserted several gemstones he had taken from his backpack.
With a flash of light, the bronze beast suddenly stopped moving and slowly sank to the bottom of the water.
"Phew, it's finally resolved." Yang Mi breathed a sigh of relief.
"Don't relax yet, there must be other dangers here." Ye Bai reminded them.
They continued walking forward until a massive Stone Door appeared in front of them, carved with various patterns and texts.
Ye Bai stepped forward and tried to push the Stone Door open, but it didn't budge.
"This Stone Door must have a mechanism, everyone look for it." Ye Bai said.
The three of them searched around the Stone Door, and Meng Ziyi discovered a small hole on one side of the Stone Door, with some signs of wear around it.
"There is a hole here, could it be a keyhole?" Meng Ziyi said.
Ye Bai took out an ancient key he carried with him, which he had obtained during a previous tomb raid.
He inserted the key into the small hole and tried to turn it; the Stone Door let out a dull sound and slowly opened.
"There really is a keyhole!" Meng Ziyi said happily.
Ye Bai nodded and stepped inside first. Yang Mi and Meng Ziyi hurriedly followed.
Once inside, they were stunned by the scene before them. In the center of the Stone Chamber sat a coffin; the wood was pitch black, exuding a strong stench of decay, and a dark shadow could vaguely be seen curled up inside.
The three of them exchanged glances, all feeling a chill run down their spines.
Meng Ziyi mustered her courage to step forward and investigate; sure enough, a corpse lay inside the coffin, severely decomposed and emitting a foul odor.
"This... why is there another corpse?" Meng Ziyi was so scared her whole body went limp.
"Be careful." Yang Mi grabbed her hand and pulled her into her arms, while blocking in front of Meng Ziyi: "I will protect you, stay away, don't come over."
"Okay." Meng Ziyi nodded obediently.
Yang Mi picked up the Dagger from the ground, gripped it tightly in her hand, and stared at the blurry dark shadow in the pitch-black coffin, holding her breath.
"Mr. Ye Bai... what should we do?" Meng Ziyi asked worriedly.
Ye Bai patted her shoulder lightly, signaling her to stay calm.
Seeing this, Yang Mi also took a few deep breaths to steady her inner fear. She tensed her face and slowly approached, holding the Dagger.
"Sister Yang Mi, be careful!" Meng Ziyi shouted.
Ye Bai, meanwhile, quietly retreated to the side, preparing to act when the opportunity arose.
"Bang!" A long tail suddenly lunged out from the coffin, sweeping toward Yang Mi.
Yang Mi only felt a great force strike her, and her whole body was sent flying, slamming heavily against the wall of the Stone Chamber.
"Yang Mi!" Meng Ziyi screamed and ran over.
Ye Bai's eyes narrowed, and he rushed toward the coffin quickly.
The long tail swept over again, but Ye Bai dodged it with a roll. Looking closely, it was actually a monster he had never seen before; its body resembled a snake, but its head had sharp horns, and its pair of eyes emitted a ghostly green light.
The Live Stream Room instantly erupted in chaos.
"My god, what is this thing? Special effects?"
"This show is too exciting, it feels even better than a movie."
And those Archaeologists who had been silently lurking were also shocked.
"This... this seems to be a type of guardian beast mentioned in the Ancient Book; I didn't expect it to actually exist."
An old Archaeologist widened his eyes, his hand trembling slightly as he adjusted his glasses.
"Ye Bai and the others are in danger; this thing is extremely ferocious. It seems this Ancient Tomb is not simple." Another Archaeologist frowned deeply.
In the Stone Chamber, Ye Bai picked up a stone and threw it at the monster, attracting its attention, while shouting to Meng Ziyi: "Quick, take Yang Mi and find a safe place to hide."
Meng Ziyi struggled to help Yang Mi up; Yang Mi clutched her chest, gritting her teeth and saying: "I'm fine, let's go."
Ye Bai dodged the monster's attacks while observing the surrounding environment.
He discovered some strange patterns on the ceiling of the Stone Chamber, which seemed to have some connection to the runes they had seen outside.
The monster lunged again, Ye Bai flashed to the side and ran toward a corner of the Stone Chamber, with the monster in hot pursuit.
Just as the monster was about to catch up to Ye Bai, he turned around abruptly and threw the entrenching shovel in his hand toward a key pattern on the ceiling of the Stone Chamber.
With a clang, the entrenching shovel hit the target, and a beam of light shot out from the pattern on the ceiling, shining directly onto the monster.
The monster seemed to be in immense pain and began to struggle frantically.
Ye Bai seized the opportunity to run to Yang Mi and Meng Ziyi.
"How are you?" Ye Bai asked, looking at Yang Mi.
