203: Intelligence is key to breaking the deadlock

Ye Bai thought carefully for a moment, then said, "Let's take the middle path."

"Okay."

Thus, they followed what Ye Bai had just said and walked towards the middle fork.

After walking for a long time, they finally discovered that the middle fork was actually a dead end.

"Damn it. Do we have to bypass this maze?" Zhang Dada cursed gloomily.

"It's okay, we can try going in another direction," Yang Mi comforted him.

Subsequently, the group walked along another direction.

As a result, after walking less than five hundred meters, the group discovered another fork in the road.

This time, Ye Bai made the correct decision—they still took the left fork.

As it turned out, this fork was actually another dead end.

"What the hell." Zhang Dada couldn't help but curse, "Is this f*cking toying with us?"

"There is definitely something strange inside this underground palace," Yang Mi said, frowning. "However, we can't think of any way to solve the puzzle for now."

"I think perhaps we just need to find the formation eye or a key, and we'll be able to open the gate of the underground palace," Ye Bai said after a long silence.

"What are the formation eye or a key?" Zhang Dada asked doubtfully.

Ye Bai shook his head.

Although he possessed a great deal of knowledge, this underground palace had, after all, existed for far too long. Even he might not be able to understand this underground palace so clearly.

"Forget it, let's just try our luck again," Ye Bai sighed and turned to leave.

"Wait, God Ye, I think you could try looking for the formation eye or a key," Zhang Dada suddenly said.

"Look for it?" Ye Bai looked at Zhang Dada in surprise.

"Yeah. Look, every Secret Chamber has so many treasures placed inside; there must be something of great value. If there's no key, how can we obtain the Treasure Trove?" Zhang Dada said as if it were a matter of course.

Hearing this, Ye Bai fell into deep thought.

He thought about it carefully and felt that what Zhang Dada said made quite a bit of sense. Since there were so many priceless treasures placed here, there had to be a key to open it, right? Otherwise, wouldn't it just benefit others?

"Then where do you think we should look for the key?" Ye Bai looked at Zhang Dada.

"Look here." Zhang Dada walked over to a corner of the wall.

Zhang Dada walked to the corner, crouched down, and rubbed his fingers against a brick, "God Ye, look at these marks, do they look like a keyhole?"

Ye Bai leaned in, his gaze examining the marks. Yang Mi also curiously leaned in, her eyes wide. "Could this really be a keyhole? But where are we going to find the key?" Yang Mi asked softly.

Ye Bai didn't speak, but inwardly he was complaining: If this is a keyhole, is the key supposed to fall from the sky? On the surface, he maintained his aloof demeanor, straightening up and crossing his arms.

Zhang Dada scratched his head, "Maybe there are clues nearby. God Ye, take another careful look around."

Ye Bai sighed helplessly and began to check the wall carefully. Suddenly, he discovered some strange symbols on the wall, like some kind of ancient script. "Do you recognize these symbols?" Ye Bai asked.

Zhang Dada and Yang Mi both shook their heads.

Yang Mi said, "Ye Bai, you are knowledgeable; can you read them?" Ye Bai looked at those symbols, his mind racing as he searched through the knowledge in his memory.

After a while, Ye Bai spoke slowly: "These symbols look a bit like the script of the Ancient Dian Kingdom, but they aren't exactly the same. I can only try to interpret a part of it." He pointed to one of the symbols and said, "This symbol seems to be related to direction."

Zhang Dada's eyes lit up, "Does that mean it has something to do with finding the key? Should we walk in this direction?"

Ye Bai rolled his eyes at him: "It's not that simple. This underground palace is full of mechanisms and traps everywhere; we can't just walk around blindly."

Just then, they heard a faint "rustling" sound, as if something was crawling in the darkness. Yang Mi was scared and hid behind Ye Bai.

"What's that sound?" Zhang Dada also became nervous, taking an entrenching shovel out of his backpack and gripping it tightly.

Ye Bai calmly drew a Dagger from his waist and said in a low voice, "Be careful, something might be coming."

Soon, two dark shadows appeared in front of them!

These two dark shadows were getting closer and closer to the three of them!

Zhang Dada's expression changed because he could already feel an extremely dangerous aura emanating from these two guys.

"God Ye, what should we do now?" Zhang Dada asked with a trembling voice.

Yang Mi's face turned even paler.

Ye Bai glanced at the two of them: "What are you afraid of? Don't we still have God Ye?"

Zhang Dada gave a bitter smile: "Are you sure the two of us can kill them together? And if we happen to get scratched or bitten by them, we'll lose our lives."

Yang Mi also said, "We are still young, we haven't lived enough yet..."

"Useless!" Ye Bai glanced at the two of them with disdain: "With you two acting like cowards, you dare to follow me in the Jianghu?"

Zhang Dada and Yang Mi immediately blushed with shame.

At this moment, Ye Bai had already stepped forward, gripping two Daggers in his hands, looking at the front solemnly.

The two dark shadows were only five or six meters away from them, and they seemed to be continuing to approach.

These two dark shadows were pitch black and massive, clearly not common creatures. They had bodies similar to snakes, but were covered in hard scales. What was most terrifying was that their tails had a ring of sharp barbs! If one were to be entangled, it would likely be very troublesome.

"Zhang Dada, Yang Mi, no matter what happens later, try your best not to move, understand?" Ye Bai instructed. Subsequently, he brandished the Daggers in his hands and rushed toward the two dark shadows.

The dark shadows' reaction speed was extremely swift; they immediately assumed a defensive posture, using two sharp spikes to block Ye Bai's attack.

"Clang—"

Sparks flew everywhere. Ye Bai violently shook his wrist; the Dagger almost slipped from his grip, and the web of his hand ached faintly. His eyelids twitched fiercely; these two guys' strength was truly too great. If a single strike didn't land, he would fall into a passive position.

The dark shadow clearly realized that Ye Bai's strength was not weak, so it immediately contracted its body and lunged at Ye Bai. Meanwhile, the other dark shadow took the opportunity to sneak attack Ye Bai's flank!

Ye Bai hurriedly dodged; the dark shadow missed, landing on the wall.

With a "hiss" sound, its entire right leg was embedded into the wall. However, its left claw was still firmly hooked into the wall, showing no signs of loosening.

"Is this an Iron-Armored Serpent?" Ye Bai said in shock: "I have never seen such a large Iron-Armored Serpent!"

Just as his voice fell, another dark shadow lunged up. This dark shadow also had iron armor, but the color was darker, and its abdomen also had a protruding cylindrical tumor.

The Iron-Armored Serpent was highly aggressive; once it locked onto prey, it would absolutely not give up easily, and if it failed once, it would continue.
