313: The eerie stone statue, the strength of the tomb guardian beast
Ye Bai, Yang Mi, and Meng Ziyi felt a chill in their hearts as they heard that evil laughter and the miserable screams of the Corpse Raisers.
“What's going on? How can there be an even more terrifying existence?” Meng Ziyi's voice trembled as she tightly clutched the gold and silver jewelry in her arms, her eyes wide with terror.
“Don't worry about that for now, we shouldn't stay here long.” With a grave expression, Ye Bai pulled the two of them along as they ran toward the Tomb's exit. The camera in the Live Stream Room shook violently, and the audience's hearts rose to their throats.
“My god, this live stream is too intense. It feels scarier than a horror movie.”
“Ye Bai and the others won't be in trouble, right? I hope they can get out safely.”
“There's definitely a huge conspiracy behind this. It might be related to that woman and the Feng Shui Formation.”
Ye Bai and the others sprinted all the way, but the vibrations beneath their feet grew more and more intense, as if some giant monster was about to burst out of the ground.
Suddenly, a Stone Door appeared ahead, blocking their path.
The Stone Door was covered in complex Feng Shui patterns and runes, faintly emitting a mysterious power.
“More runes, what do we do?” Yang Mi looked at Ye Bai anxiously. Ye Bai examined the Stone Door closely, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead: “These runes form a trapping formation. If we break it by force, it might trigger an even more serious disaster.”
“Then are we going to be trapped here until we die?” Meng Ziyi was on the verge of tears.
The Live Stream Room was also in an uproar.
“No way, are they going to meet their end here?”
“Ye Bai, you're the big shot, think of something fast!”
Just then, Ye Bai noticed a blank space in the bottom right corner of the Stone Door, its shape very similar to the Jade Hairpin they had obtained earlier. With a sudden thought, he took out the Jade Hairpin and inserted it into the blank space.
In an instant, the runes on the Stone Door glowed brightly, and then it slowly opened.
“Move, fast!”
Ye Bai shouted, and the three of them rushed through the Stone Door.
However, behind the door was not an exit, but a massive circular hall with eight giant Stone Statues placed around it.
Each Stone Statue was in a strange pose, as if guarding something.
In the center of the hall was a massive Stone Platform, upon which a large Feng Shui Map was carved. The lines in the map flickered with an eerie light, seemingly resonating with the surrounding air.
“This should be the core of the entire Tomb's Feng Shui Formation.” Ye Bai looked at the Feng Shui Map, his brow furrowed.
“Then how do we get out?” Yang Mi nervously looked around, feeling as if countless pairs of eyes were watching them.
At this time, the viewers in the Live Stream Room were also guessing wildly.
“These Stone Statues look so creepy, will they suddenly start moving?”
“That Feng Shui Map definitely has something to it. It might be the key to getting out.”
Suddenly, red light lit up in the eyes of the Stone Statues. They actually began to move, slowly closing in on Ye Bai and the others. Ye Bai gripped the sword in his hand, watching the Stone Statues warily.
“These Stone Statues are being controlled by the Feng Shui Formation. We must find a way to break it.”
Meng Ziyi said in a panic, “They look so powerful, we can't beat them.”
Ye Bai stared at the movements of the Stone Statues and discovered that their actions seemed to follow a certain pattern on the Feng Shui Map.
Information he had seen on the Murals and the various Feng Shui layouts encountered in the Tomb Chambers flashed quickly through his mind.
“I have a way! If we walk according to the position of the Life Gate on the Feng Shui Map, we should be able to avoid the Stone Statues' attacks.”
The three of them moved carefully in the direction Ye Bai pointed. Each time, the Stone Statues' attacks missed them by a hair's breadth.
Just as they were about to reach the edge of the hall, cracks suddenly appeared in the ground. Bursts of black smoke billowed from the cracks, and within the smoke, there seemed to be countless Vengeful Spirits struggling.
“What is this now?” Yang Mi screamed.
“They are Vengeful Spirits that were Sealed here. They've been released by the changes in the Feng Shui Formation.” Ye Bai's expression became even more grim.
The Live Stream Room was in chaos; the viewers were terrified by this horrific scene.
“This is too terrifying, it feels like Hell.”
“How are Ye Bai and the others supposed to dodge these Vengeful Spirits?”
Ye Bai looked around and saw several grooves on the Stone Platform, their shapes similar to the Antique Weapons they had found at the Secret Door.
He had a sudden realization: “Put the weapons on there! Maybe we can suppress these Vengeful Spirits.”
Meng Ziyi and Yang Mi hurriedly placed the Antique Weapons they were holding into the grooves. Sure enough, as soon as the weapons were placed, the Vengeful Spirits in the black smoke stopped struggling and slowly receded back into the cracks. The Stone Statues also seemed to lose their power and stopped in their tracks.
“Go, while we can!” Ye Bai led the two of them toward a Passage at the edge of the hall.
The Passage was dark and damp, filled with a rotting stench. As they walked, they heard the sound of gurgling water.
“There's the sound of water. Maybe there's an exit nearby.”
A glimmer of hope ignited in Ye Bai's heart.
Turning a corner, they saw an Underground River. The river water was an eerie dark red, with white bones floating on the surface.
“This river water looks very dangerous. How do we get across?” Meng Ziyi asked worriedly.
Ye Bai observed the surroundings and found a dilapidated wooden boat by the riverbank, with some Feng Shui runes carved on its hull.
“This boat should be usable. These runes have a protective effect.”
The three of them boarded the boat, and it slowly sailed toward the middle of the river.
Suddenly, a huge dark shadow swam beneath the water, and the river began to churn violently.
“There's something down there!” Yang Mi shouted in terror.
The viewers in the Live Stream Room also held their breath in suspense.
“There couldn't be some kind of water monster in this river, could there?”
“I hope Ye Bai and the others don't get dragged down.”
Ye Bai picked up his sword and stared at the water's surface. A giant, scaly claw reached out from underwater and grabbed at the wooden boat. Ye Bai swung his sword at the claw, sending sparks flying.
“This is a Grave Guardian Beast. It guards this river and won't let anyone pass,” Ye Bai explained.
Although this Grave Guardian Beast lacked intelligence, its combat instincts were extremely high. It quickly released its claw and sank back to the bottom of the river.
“Fortunately, it didn't keep chasing us.” Meng Ziyi breathed a sigh of relief.
As the wooden boat neared the center of the river, a roar suddenly came from underwater. Immediately after, a ghostly creature with disheveled hair and Iron Chains wrapped around its body appeared before them. The creature's eyes were blood-red, and its mouth was wide open, revealing two fangs.
“It's a Starving Ghost. Is everyone ready?” After Ye Bai spoke, he was the first to charge forward with his sword. Meng Ziyi and Yang Mi followed closely behind, and the three of them worked together to deal with the Starving Ghost.
The Starving Ghost's strength was incredibly formidable. Even after being trapped for many years, it remained savage, ruthless, and relentless.
It roared and lunged at Ye Bai, only to be kicked flying by him. It slammed into the wall, instantly becoming covered in blood.
Meng Ziyi and Yang Mi coordinated perfectly, attacking from the left and right. The Starving Ghost gradually fell into a disadvantage, suppressed by the two of them until it could hardly breathe. Finally, the Starving Ghost collapsed on the ground, dying and completely losing its ability to fight.
