211: Special function, Rune Sound
As they walked, they heard the sound of gurgling water. Ye Bai followed the sound and found that the end of the Passage was a karst cave. There was an Underground River inside the karst cave, and the water flowed through it, making a crisp sound.
On one side of the karst cave, there was a Stone Platform. Several boxes were placed on the Stone Platform. Ye Bai and the others walked toward the Stone Platform.
"Will there be treasure in these boxes?" Zhang Dada said excitedly.
"Don't move recklessly; let's check the situation first," Ye Bai stopped Zhang Dada.
Ye Bai carefully observed the boxes and found that they were carved with patterns similar to those on the copper plaque. He picked up a box and shook it gently; there was no sound inside.
"Open it carefully and see," Yang Mi said.
Ye Bai cautiously opened the box, and a golden light shot out from it. Everyone was blinded by the light and closed their eyes. When the light vanished, they saw a Golden Bead inside the box.
"This Bead looks very valuable," Meng Ziyi said.
Ye Bai picked up the Bead and examined it closely. This Bead was somewhat similar to the Green Bead he had obtained before, but there were also differences. The Bead emitted a warm aura that made Ye Bai feel very comfortable.
Just then, a sharp scream suddenly rang out in the karst cave. The scream echoed through the karst cave, making one's skin crawl.
"What sound is that?" Zhang Dada asked in terror.
Ye Bai gripped the Bead tightly and said, "I don't know, but it's definitely nothing good. Everyone, be careful."
They looked around, searching for the source of the sound. Suddenly, a giant bat flew down from the ceiling of the karst cave. The bat's eyes were blood-red, and it spread its massive wings as it lunged at them.
"Run!" Ye Bai shouted. The group turned and ran toward the Passage. The bat chased closely behind them.
While escaping, Ye Bai noticed that this Passage seemed different from when they had entered. New symbols had appeared on the walls, and a pungent odor permeated the Passage.
"This smell is toxic; everyone, cover your nose and mouth," Ye Bai said.
They covered their noses and mouths while running for their lives. The bat was very fast and almost caught them several times.
"Running like this isn't the answer; we need to find a place to hide," Yang Mi said.
Ye Bai looked around and found a small cave on one side of the Passage. He said, "Let's go hide there."
The group quickly ducked into the small cave. Ye Bai blocked the entrance with a stone, leaving only a small gap to observe the situation outside.
The bat circled outside for a while and then flew away. Ye Bai and the others breathed a sigh of relief.
"What do we do now?" Meng Ziyi asked.
"First rest for a bit, then we'll figure out a way to get out," Ye Bai said. He sat on the ground and began to think about their next move. This Ancient Tomb was full of danger and the unknown; they had to be cautious. However, the Golden Bead and the copper plaque made him feel that there must be a huge secret hidden within this Ancient Tomb, and he didn't want to give up the exploration just like that.
After resting for a while, Ye Bai stood up and said, "Let's keep moving forward and see if we can find an exit or more clues."
The group walked out of the small cave and continued along the Passage. The Passage was still filled with mist and a pungent odor, but they could only steel themselves and move forward.
As they walked, they noticed a bright light appearing ahead. Ye Bai felt a surge of joy—could it be the exit? They quickened their pace toward the light.
When they approached the light, they discovered it was a huge Tomb Chamber. The Tomb Chamber was filled with many coffins, all of which were covered in various Runes.
"So many coffins... could this be a Burial Ground?" Zhang Dada said fearfully.
Ye Bai took a deep breath, trying to keep himself calm. He turned to look at the others and saw that Yang Mi, Meng Ziyi, and Zhang Dada all had terrified expressions on their faces.
"Don't be afraid, everyone. Let's be careful and see if we can find any clues," Ye Bai whispered.
Yang Mi grabbed Ye Bai's arm tightly and said in a trembling voice, "Ye Bai, I'm so scared. This place feels so gloomy."
Ye Bai gently patted Yang Mi's hand and said, "Don't be afraid, I'm here." In his heart, however, he couldn't help but complain, "This woman is too timid. If I had known, I wouldn't have brought them along."
Zhang Dada swallowed hard and said, "What do we do now? These coffins look terrifying."
Ye Bai frowned and thought for a moment, then said, "Let's first see if there's a pattern to the Runes on these coffins. Maybe we can find some clues."
The group cautiously approached the coffins and carefully observed the Runes. Meng Ziyi suddenly cried out, "These Runes seem to be moving!"
Everyone looked closely and indeed found that the Runes on the coffins seemed to be flickering slightly, as if they were alive. Ye Bai's heart skipped a beat; he realized this place might be even more dangerous than they had imagined.
"Be careful, everyone. These Runes might have some special effect," Ye Bai warned.
Just then, a Sinister Wind suddenly blew through the Tomb Chamber, making everyone feel chilled to the bone. Yang Mi screamed in fright and hugged Ye Bai tightly.
Ye Bai looked at Yang Mi helplessly and said, "Stop screaming, calm down."
Zhang Dada said nervously, "This wind came out of nowhere. Could there be some danger?"
Ye Bai didn't answer. He looked around vigilantly, gripping his Iron Rod tightly. Suddenly, he noticed the lid of one of the coffins move.
"Not good, something's happening!" Ye Bai shouted.
Everyone quickly backed away, staring nervously at the coffin. They saw the coffin lid slowly open, and a foul stench of decay wafted toward them.
"Ah!" Meng Ziyi covered her eyes in fear.
Ye Bai suppressed his nausea and stared inside the coffin. He saw a corpse lying inside, dressed in ancient clothing, its face so rotten it was unrecognizable.
"What is this?" Zhang Dada asked in terror.
Ye Bai frowned and said, "I don't know, but we'd better not get close."
Just as they were about to move away from the coffin, they suddenly heard strange noises coming from the other coffins. Immediately after, all the coffin lids began to shake.
"Run!" Ye Bai shouted.
The group turned to run, but the coffins in the Tomb Chamber seemed to be controlled by some force. They opened one after another, and rotting corpses began to crawl out.
The rotting corpses moved slowly, but they were numerous and gradually closed in on them. Ye Bai thought of a strategy as he ran.
"Ye Bai, we what do we do?" Yang Mi asked, crying.
Ye Bai Grit your teeth, explain:"We'll find a place to hide."
They searched the Tomb Chamber for a place to hide and finally found a small Passage in a corner. The group ducked into the Passage without hesitation.
The Passage was very narrow, allowing only one person to pass at a time. They walked forward cautiously, their hearts filled with fear.
"Could this Passage be dangerous too?" Meng Ziyi said worriedly.
