315: What exactly is he afraid of that so-called obsession?

The Starving Ghost stuck out its tongue and licked its crimson lips, greed erupting from its eyes.

“I haven't tasted a living person yet! You all are my best supplements!” The Starving Ghost burst into wild laughter.

Ye Bai's gaze instantly sharpened. “We are not your supplements!”

The Starving Ghost snorted coldly as its figure transformed into a wisp of black smoke, drifting toward Ye Bai at a speed so fast it was impossible to guard against!

“Bang—”

Ye Bai swung his palm, the wind from it whistling and faintly carrying a golden light as it collided with the wisp of black smoke. The black smoke was shaken back a bit, but it quickly reconsolidated and pounced toward Ye Bai again.

The audience in the Live Stream Room was so nervous they didn't dare to breathe.

“My god, this Starving Ghost is too tenacious. Can Ye Bai do it?”

“I feel like it's really dangerous this time. This variety show is too intense; my heart is racing just watching it.”

“Go Ye Bai! You must protect Mi Mi and Ziyi!”

Ye Bai frowned deeply, well aware of how difficult this Starving Ghost was to deal with.

“Get back!” he shouted to Yang Mi and Meng Ziyi. At the same time, the Precious Sword in his hand cleared its scabbard, the blade emitting a layer of cold light that seemed capable of dispelling the surrounding eerie atmosphere.

“Hmph, trying to run? It won't be that easy.” The Starving Ghost's voice echoed in the Tomb Chamber as the black smoke instantly split into several strands, coiling toward the three of them respectively.

Ye Bai's figure flashed, his sword moving like a swimming dragon as he cut down the black smoke lunging at him. However, the black smoke seemed to possess a life of its own, recombining as soon as it was severed. Yang Mi and Meng Ziyi dodged in a panic, and Yang Mi accidentally tripped and fell to the ground.

“Mi Mi!” Meng Ziyi cried out in alarm, trying to pull her up.

Right then, a strand of black smoke attacked Yang Mi. Seeing this, Ye Bai moved like lightning, instantly blocking Yang Mi's front and swinging his sword at the smoke. But the black smoke bypassed the blade and wrapped around Ye Bai's arm. A burning sensation followed, and Ye Bai let out a muffled groan.

“Brother Ye Bai!” Yang Mi and Meng Ziyi shouted in unison.

“I'm fine.” Ye Bai gritted his teeth and circulated his Internal Energy. A surge of energy erupted from within him, dispelling the black smoke.

“You ants still want to resist?” The Starving Ghost condensed its form once more, its appearance becoming even more hideous as a sinister red light flickered in its eyes.

Ye Bai stared at the Starving Ghost, his mind quickly racing through strategies.

He recalled reading about such Starving Ghosts in an Ancient Book; these evil spirits died from extreme starvation during their lives, leaving behind deep resentment after death.

To eliminate it, one had to find its Vital Point, which was often related to the place of its death or its obsession while alive.

“What exactly was your obsession in life? Why are you doing evil here?” Ye Bai asked loudly.

The Starving Ghost paused for a moment, then let out a fit of wild laughter.

“Obsession? My obsession is to devour all life to make up for the pain of my past life!”

Ye Bai's heart stirred. He looked at the surrounding coffins and Tombstones. Could it be related to the environment here?

He noticed some blurred patterns on the coffins that seemed to be telling a story.

“Everyone, split up and check these coffins for any clues,” Ye Bai said.

Yang Mi and Meng Ziyi immediately took action, weaving between the coffins and carefully observing the patterns on them.

The audience in the Live Stream Room was also speculating.

“Could the patterns on these coffins be the key to destroying the Starving Ghost?”

“It feels like an ancient story; maybe it's related to the Starving Ghost's origins.”

Meng Ziyi suddenly shouted, “Brother Ye Bai, there's a pattern here that looks like a starving person locked in a dark place.”

Ye Bai walked over and looked at the pattern, a hypothesis forming in his mind.

“Perhaps its Vital Point is in a place representing darkness. Is there any similar symbol here?”

They continued their search and finally found a black Stone Door at the end of the long corridor. Strange symbols were carved on the Stone Door, somewhat similar to the patterns on the coffins.

“It should be here,” Ye Bai said.

Upon seeing the black Stone Door, a hint of terror appeared in the Starving Ghost's eyes.

“You cannot open that door!” it roared as it rushed over.

Yang Mi's face turned pale with fright; she had no way to resist the Starving Ghost. Ye Bai, however, ignored it and slammed the Stone Door open. Suddenly, a blast of bone-chilling cold air swept out, making several of them hug themselves and shiver uncontrollably.

Inside the Stone Door was a pitch-black Passage extending deep underground. Various Murals, sculptures, and ancient scripts were depicted on the walls on both sides of the Passage.

Ye Bai held up his phone and filmed everything.

He looked at the Starving Ghost and said, “This is our only hope. We must go in and investigate.”

“You absolutely must not enter!” the Starving Ghost bellowed.

“Then we'll all die together!” Ye Bai roared back, being the first to charge into the pitch-black Passage.

The other three women followed him.

In the dark Passage, only the lonely figure of the Starving Ghost remained. It stood at the entrance, watching the backs of the four people, a fierce and brutal light flowing in its eyes. “Stupid humans, since you want to die, then I shall send you on your way.”

“Wooo—”

The Starving Ghost let out a shrill cry and quickly gave chase.

The Passage was incredibly dark with no lights, relying only on faint moonlight to illuminate the path ahead.

Suddenly, the light ahead became much brighter. A faint light filtered through, and the sound of water droplets could be heard indistinctly.

Ye Bai and the others immediately raised their guard and slowly approached.

As it grew brighter, their field of vision gradually opened up. Ye Bai and the others discovered several huge Copper Furnaces ahead with raging flames burning inside, and outside the flames were rows of skeletal remains.

“This... where is this?” Meng Ziyi fearfully gripped Yang Mi's arm, her whole body trembling.

Yang Mi was equally filled with terror, her legs going weak.

Ye Bai scanned the area and found that this was actually the deepest part of the Underground Palace. There was a spacious area here filled with many huge Copper Furnaces, and those skeletal remains were all ancient people trapped here. They had been refined into Zombies, destined to stay in this place forever.

“Let's run!” Meng Ziyi cried out.

Ye Bai nodded and charged forward first. Yang Mi followed closely by his side, never leaving him for a moment.

Just then, Ye Bai's foot suddenly stepped on a hard object. Looking down, it was a Dagger! He picked up the Dagger and forcefully stabbed it toward the Starving Ghost behind him.

“Aow!” The Starving Ghost let out a wretched howl, its figure distorting for half a second before turning into black mist and melting into the patterns on the wall.

Ye Bai looked up at the others and saw they were all safe and sound, letting out a sigh of relief.

“Thank you all,” Ye Bai said sincerely.

Yang Mi shook her head. “Don't mention it, Ye Bai. I knew you could definitely save me and get me out of here, right?” She looked at Ye Bai expectantly.

“Of course.” Ye Bai nodded.

Meng Ziyi clenched her fists, encouraging herself to be strong.

“Let's go,” Ye Bai said. They followed the stairs downward and soon finished the last step.

This was a narrow and eerie Passage, with huge bronze dings placed on both sides, each several meters high like small mountains. In front of them was a heavy bronze city wall about twenty zhang high, engraved with dense runic patterns, displaying the extraordinary nature of this wall.
