209: The true face of Mount Lu, the so-called real identity
"Nonsense! You're the ancestor of the Li Family!" the Female Corpse roared.
Ye Bai continued to provoke the Female Corpse: "It doesn't matter if you don't admit it. I've already guessed who the mastermind behind you is. Your name should be Li Wan, right?"
"Shut up!" Li Wan shouted, "You Filthy Daoist! I curse you to fall into eternal hell!"
"Tsk tsk tsk," Ye Bai clicked his tongue in admiration, "How interesting."
"I will kill you! I will eat your flesh! Gnaw on your bones! Drink your blood!"
"Oh my, how cruel," Ye Bai said with a smile, "But I like it."
Li Wan's expression was hideous, and her eyes were bloodshot. She suddenly jumped up, opened her gaping maw, and lunged straight for Ye Bai's face.
Ye Bai deftly dodged, grabbed Li Wan's hair, and pulled her down onto the ground with a strong tug. Ye Bai stepped on her cheek, looking down at her, and said, "Do you think I'm afraid of you?"
"Mmmph mmmph..." A painful shriek squeezed out of Li Wan's throat.
Ye Bai squatted beside her, leaned close to her face, and asked, "Tell me, who sent you. I will help you escape this sea of suffering."
Li Wan glared at Ye Bai angrily: "Get lost—"
Ye Bai smiled provocatively and slapped her across the face. Li Wan howled in pain.
"Tell me who sent you, and I will spare your life. Otherwise..." Ye Bai squeezed her neck, slowly tightening his fingers: with a sound like "crack," he snapped Li Wan's throat.
The Female Corpse's head dropped to the ground, and blood flowed all over the dirt. Her eyes glazed over, gradually losing focus.
Ye Bai took off his gloves and tossed them aside, wiping the sweat from his forehead. He let out a long breath, turned, and looked toward the depths of the Stone Chamber, discovering that the end of this Mausoleum was a metal door.
Ye Bai took a step forward. The closer he got to the door, the more cautious he became. His breathing grew heavy.
This Stone Chamber was very spacious, and the walls were covered with densely packed lines. He slowly walked around the walls of the Stone Chamber a few times, finally stopping to look at the center.
A coffin was placed there.
The coffin was bronze in color, covered in complex and exquisite patterns. Ye Bai's gaze moved from the coffin wood to the Coffin Lid. The Coffin Lid was tightly locked and hadn't moved an inch.
He bent down and picked up an Iron Rod from the ground. This Iron Rod was made of brass, rough and old.
"Dong!"
Ye Bai delivered a heavy blow onto the copper nail. Cracks appeared in the copper nail. Ye Bai hammered it a few more times, and the copper nail finally broke apart.
As the copper nail shattered, a smell of decay wafted out.
Ye Bai quickly covered his nose and took a few steps back.
With a crisp "click," a corner of the coffin board was pried open. Ye Bai quickly ran over and slipped inside the coffin.
"Plop." A luminous pearl dropped from the coffin.
The coffin was designed to be unusually narrow and cramped; lying inside, he could barely breathe. What surprised Ye Bai even more was that the luminous pearl emitted a faint, blue, ghostly light, illuminating the dark room as if it were daytime. Ye Bai carefully observed the luminous pearl, feeling a little suspicious.
This luminous pearl was definitely an antique, and its value must be extremely high. But since it was such a valuable antique, why had no one preserved it?
Could it be that because this luminous pearl contained spiritual energy, no one was willing to take it away?
After thinking for a moment, Ye Bai shook his head. This answer was hard to believe. Even if this luminous pearl possessed some mystery, it shouldn't turn the entire Mausoleum into a ghost domain, right? Furthermore, if it truly contained spiritual energy, the Feng Shui of this Mausoleum would inevitably be damaged. However, after watching for a long time, Ye Bai only confirmed that the luminous pearl did have spiritual energy, but he found no flaws or irregularities elsewhere.
"Forget it. I won't think about it; it has nothing to do with me anyway." Ye Bai withdrew his attention from the luminous pearl and surveyed his surroundings.
He looked around. This was a huge Stone Chamber, but in the center of the Stone Chamber stood a massive Stone Statue. The statue was lifelike, majestic, and imposing.
"Huh? Isn't this... Li Guangling?"
Ye Bai's eyes widened, thinking, how could such an awesome figure be in this small Tomb?
Moreover, the Stone Statue looked somewhat similar to him, no matter how he looked at it.
Ye Bai reached out and touched the Stone Statue. The statue felt hard and cold, and the texture was quite good.
This Stone Statue looked ancient, perhaps even one of the Funerary Objects from the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor. Placing such a massive object here must have required great effort.
"Hmm?" Ye Bai suddenly noticed a piece of cloth wrapped around the Stone Statue's right leg.
The cloth looked very new, indicating that the owner had only recently worn it. Ye Bai reached out and unwrapped the cloth, revealing a fragment of a Jade Bracelet.
Ye Bai was stunned, thinking: This is Li Guangling's Jade Bracelet! How could it be here?
He held the Jade Bracelet and examined it for a long time, recalling the legendary deeds Li Guangling left behind in history books.
It is said that when this renowned emperor of all ages ascended the throne, he was blessed by a Divine Dragon.
Li Guangling himself was also repeatedly calculated by the Imperial Advisor to possess "Auspicious Omens," so Li Guangling was regarded as an auspicious sign at the time.
Unfortunately, Li Guangling eventually died in battle. After his death, he could not enjoy the offerings of incense, so folk sacrificial activities decreased significantly.
"Could this be Li Guangling's personal jade?" Ye Bai muttered to himself, his heart filled with doubt.
Ye Bai looked up again at Li Guangling's Stone Statue, feeling that the statue was full of historical vicissitudes. After hesitating for a moment, he put Li Guangling's Jade Bracelet into his bag.
"This thing is too conspicuous. I should find a chance to hide it."
Just as he was about to get up, he suddenly heard a slight movement in the Stone Chamber. Ye Bai immediately crouched down and listened carefully. The sound traveled from far to near, gradually becoming clearer.
"Dong, dong, dong..."
The sound of footsteps was extremely bizarre, as if stepping on Ye Bai's heart, causing unease.
Soon, a mass of black shadow appeared within his sight. The black shadow moved very quickly, reaching the Stone Chamber door in the blink of an eye. The black shadow paused at the entrance, then pushed the door open and rushed inside.
Ye Bai quickly hid in the shadows, waiting for the black shadow to approach.
The black shadow's speed was not slow. However, Ye Bai could clearly track its movements. Every rush of the black shadow was perfectly timed, making no sound, and even its footsteps were not messy.
It wasn't until the black shadow rushed next to the outer coffin that Ye Bai finally saw its true face of Mount Lu.
It was a skeleton.
Ye Bai was startled. This skeleton had been dead for who knows how many years; its bones had long since deteriorated and were covered in dust, making it look like it had just been dug out of a grave.
Ye Bai frowned, thinking, could this guy have crawled out of the Mausoleum?
With a "bang," the skeleton's head was knocked off, and red and white substances splattered out. Ye Bai quickly recoiled.
This skeleton must have died not long ago. It was soaking wet all over, its chest cavity was empty, and it had no internal organs. Furthermore, judging by its physique, it appeared to be male.
