328: Netherworld
Yang Dian, who had already delved deep underground, naturally didn’t know that Mo Yuntao, Director of the Martial Security Bureau was preparing to sacrifice himself, nor did he know that due to the appearance of the ‘ghosts’, Huaxia had prematurely entered the era of interstellar migration.
After all, the underground world’s magnetic field was chaotic; technological equipment would be destroyed in a short time once exposed to the air, and signals could not be transmitted normally, making it generally impossible to contact the surface.
As for unusual circumstances?
Naturally, it was similar to Bai Zhi using paper for communication, or what Yang Dian was doing now.
He casually drew a circle in front of him.
After confirming that spatial power could be used normally, Yang Dian followed the signals left by Yue Shan and Old Daoist Qingfeng, and flew rapidly towards the other side of the sinkhole.
The underground passages connected to the sinkhole had two sections: one shaped like a ‘ 丿’ and one shaped like a ‘ Second’.
The underground world visited last time was the ‘ Second’-shaped section.
Following the ‘ Second’-shaped underground passage winding downwards, one would eventually reach a massive underground world, which was the bottom area of the ‘ Second’ shape.
After that, this cavern was pretty much at its end.
Although there were still various hidden crevices, they were too small to allow human passage without expansion, let alone the passage of large lifeforms like the Iron-Eating Beast King.
So, what Yue Shan had been exploring during this time was the other end of the sinkhole passage, an underground passage shaped like a ‘ 丿’.
Following the passage downwards, flying in a winding and oblique path at a speed of 1600 meters per second for about half an hour, Yang Dian suddenly felt an inexplicable chill Attack his heart.
This made him stop immediately.
“Have we arrived?”
Because under normal circumstances, the deeper one goes underground, the higher the temperature.
He retreated a bit, and after no longer feeling the chill, Yang Dian looked down at his mechanical watch.
“Flew for 37 minutes, approximately 3552 kilometers.”
“The linear distance is hard to say; there are too many winding places.”
“The perceived temperature is 531.7℃. Normally, this would be about 18 kilometers from the surface.”
Yang Dian virtually drew a circle with his hand, and began to use spatial projection to display the scene 18 kilometers above him.
“Hmm? Still underground above 18 kilometers?”
“What about 19 kilometers…”
19 kilometers, 20 kilometers, 21 kilometers, 22 kilometers… all the way up, until the projection reached 23 kilometers, when light finally appeared in the projected image.
Adjusting the angle slightly, Yang Dian calculated the distance of the projected image from the surface.
“780 meters from the surface.”
“So I’m currently 22.22 kilometers underground?”
While contemplating, Yang Dian also glimpsed a high-speed rail station in the spatial projection image.
[Fengdu North Station]
“Huh?”
“Fengdu North Station?”
“Fengdu?”
“22.22 kilometers from the surface, 44.44 li?”
“Damn, are there really ghosts?”
He stroked the Little Black Cat, who, fearing the dark, had been nestled in his armpit ever since they entered the underground.
Yang Dian took a deep breath and stepped forward again.
A single step, yet it felt like crossing between two worlds.
Before stepping, the surroundings were scorching hot, as if in a lava Hell.
After stepping, the environment became bone-chillingly cold, with wisps of frigid wind seeming to corrode bones and destroy souls.
“How many years has it been since the Qi Revival?”
“If there really is an Underworld, I’ll tear it apart.”
As he murmured, vast Qi and blood surged from Yang Dian, illuminating the gloomy underground in a fiery red.
The suddenly rising chill dissipated, and the Little Black Cat, sensing the light, propped itself up from Yang Dian’s armpit, looked left and right, and then meowed:
“Human, Cat feels there’s something delicious there, but it’s very, very far away.”
He looked up in the direction pointed by the Little Black Cat’s paw.
That was deeper into the ‘Underworld’, and also the direction Yue Shan and Old Daoist Qingfeng had been exploring.
“Then Human will take you to eat something delicious.”
After petting the Little Black Cat a couple of times, Yang Dian continued to fly downwards.
After passing winding paths, traversing serpentine routes, going through twisting roads, and flying an unknown distance along the circuitous underground passage, Yang Dian finally heard sounds of clashing.
“Clang!”
“Damn it, take this sword from your Daoist Master!”
Hearing the familiar sound of a sword being drawn and angry curses in the distance, Yang Dian couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
He didn’t know about Yue Shan.
But the Daoist Master was at least still alive and kicking.
After turning a few more corners, a wisp of eerie blue light entered Yang Dian’s vision.
What kind of an underground world was this ~
Waterfalls, gloomy mist, red flowers, blue steps… an eerie blue moon hung above the waterfall at the end of the steps, shrouded in red gloomy clouds, casting a ghostly blue light that flowed down with the chilling waterfall.
Old trees, withered crows, tattered robes, broken swords… if he hadn’t confirmed he was in the human world, Yang Dian would have truly thought he had transmigrated again, to some ghostly Underworld.
Looking at the steps, the Daoist Master stood in front of several people, swinging his sword in a phantom attack.
Upon closer inspection, a figure seemed to be bound by iron chains within the eerie moon, eroded by blue light, struggling weakly, intermittently.
“Human, the delicious thing is there.”
Following the direction pointed by the Little Black Cat’s paw, Yang Dian couldn’t help but reach out and scratch its chin:
“Your nose is really sharp.”
“You smelled something delicious from hundreds or even thousands of li away.”
The Little Black Cat placed its front paws on Yang Dian’s arm and began to knead:
“Human, Cat didn’t smell it.”
“Human, Cat just knows there’s something delicious here.”
“You just know there’s something delicious here?”
Muttering, Yang Dian tapped his toes on the ground and flew towards Old Daoist Qingfeng.
But as soon as he flew above the steps, he felt a tremendous force act upon him, pulling him down from the sky, and he crashed onto the steps with a “thud.”
Feeling the power of Qi and blood completely restricted within his Physical Body, and the bone-chilling cold on his skin, Yang Dian’s pupils involuntarily constricted.
“This feeling…”
He looked down at the Little Black Cat in his arms.
The Little Black Cat was not affected by the bone-chilling cold, or rather, the spatial protective layer applied to it was still present.
Perhaps because the source of the spatial power was the Dimension Butterfly, its essence was extremely high, so it was not completely suppressed back into the body like Qi and blood or the Five Elements’ power.
The Little Black Cat looked at Yang Dian with some concern:
“Human, are you alright?”
Yang Dian shook his head:
“I’m fine.”
He now understood why the Daoist Master was wildly swinging his sword like an ordinary person.
It turned out his Qi and blood power was restricted.
“Cannot fly, restricts extraordinary power from leaving the body.”
“Why does it feel like I’ve arrived at an Alien Planet?”
“This suppressive force is much stronger than the Lizardmen Alien Planet.”
“A single planetary fragment that fell from a Dimensional Rift is already this outrageous.”
“Then, when it was intact, how strong must the entire planet, the entire civilization have been?”
“Such an incredibly powerful world actually lost in the Dimensional War ~”
In his emotion, Yang Dian looked back the way he came.
Beyond the steps was a misty expanse, with no discernible scenery.
No wonder he had illuminated the cavern with his Qi and blood outside, yet Old Daoist Qingfeng and the others hadn’t looked his way.
It turned out they couldn’t see, their vision was obscured.
He twisted his neck, feeling the undiminished pure Physical Body strength, then lightly tapped his toes on the steps, directly crossing hundreds of eerie blue steps, and leaping onto the platform where Old Daoist Qingfeng was.
“Oh, Daoist Master is brandishing his sword?”
