79: The second characteristic of flying on the grass is returning home

Dust flies outside the heavens, the sun and moon pass like horses through the window.

In a blink of an eye, it was July 25th.

In just over a month, it would be September 1st, the start of the new school semester.

After the foreigners showed up once on Pingshui Street, they hadn't reappeared.

Even with two satellites deployed and all city cameras utilized, their traces remained unfound.

The deployed Special Administration Bureau combat teams had also returned one after another, and Yang Dian had gotten to know many new people in the past two days.

The problem was, with more people, there were fewer missions.

Originally, he could occasionally pick up an Awakened, a Mutant creature, or a heaven and earth treasure outside.

But with more people, Yang Dian wandered outside for two days and didn't pick up anything.

“Just two days ago, they were saying that recent abnormal incidents and Awakened individuals had increased compared to before.”

“So, it was just that others weren't around, and all the benefits fell to us.”

Hearing Yang Dian mutter, Shi Sheng, who was driving him on patrol, couldn't help but laugh:

“Otherwise?”

“If abnormal incidents and the number of Awakened truly exploded, then the Qi Revival would have been impossible to hide long ago.”

After replying to Yang Dian, Shi Sheng, who had parked the car, turned to look at Yang Dian again:

“Tomorrow is a day off. Want to come to my place for dinner tonight?”

“Your sister-in-law has been mentioning you many times.”

Recalling how Shi Sheng's wife, Xu Qian, would run into him every few days, inviting him to her house for dinner and wanting to introduce him to someone, Yang Dian immediately shivered:

“Forget it, next time.”

“My younger sister just called me, you heard it, didn't you?”

“She's rushing me to go back.”

Shi Sheng turned to look at him:

“Your home isn't close to here, is it?”

“Do you want me to give you a ride back?”

Yang Dian waved his hand, returned to the bureau to change into casual clothes, picked up the General Administration's free briefcase, and walked out.

“No need, you know my speed, don't you?”

“This little distance, I can run back in minutes.”

Shi Sheng pouted:

“Running fast is a big deal, huh?”

“Don't run too fast. The forums are saying that our Changle area is haunted by ghosts every night.”

Yang Dian didn't look back, waving his hand at Shi Sheng:

“Got it, I'm controlling my speed.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Yang Dian pushed off with his toes, and he shot out like he was flying.

The second entry of Grass Tread Flight: moving with light and swift steps.

It wasn't an adjective but a realistic description.

When he walked, it really was like flying.

Yang Dian had tried it before on a deserted beach; at full power, he could step over 30 meters in one stride.

From afar, wouldn't it look just like flying?

“It's just that grinding for the third trait entry is too difficult.”

“Not only does it require 720 energy points, but also walking and running ten thousand kilometers.”

“It's just like in novels, traveling ten thousand li and throwing a million punches, right?”

“And this is only the third trait entry.”

“Based on this rate of increase, the fourth entry will require walking a hundred thousand kilometers, and the fifth entry a million kilometers!”

“This is even further than Sun Wukong's journey to the West!”

“If I grind out the fourth trait, will it really let me fly?”

Yang Dian didn't know.

He just carried the briefcase, controlled his speed, and walked steadily in the direction of home.

‘I wonder how much luck Silly Younger Sister has accumulated.’

‘Will she be able to pick up a second abnormal creature if she goes beachcombing...’

...As the sun set and the stars began to appear, Yang Dian also returned to the entrance of his small courtyard.

Looking at the house with its warm lights, a soft expression involuntarily appeared in his eyes.

The dwelling place of the Soul is the body.

But the body's true resting place is not some low-rent apartment.

Instead, it is this place called home.

Pushing open the courtyard gate and entering the yard, Little Yellow Dog (Little Yellow) immediately wagged its tail and jumped up to him.

Yang Dian, disliking how it used to pee on his pant leg when it was little, lifted its belly with his foot, sending it far away:

“I'm warning you, don't come near me.”

“If you pee on my pants again, I'll cut off your balls.”

Little Yellow Dog (Little Yellow) let out an “awoo,” tucked its tail between its legs, and ran far away.

Rubbing the head of Big Yellow Dog who was squatting by the door, wagging its tail to welcome him, Yang Dian then pushed open the main door:

“Dad, Mom, Younger Sister, I'm home!”

“Thump, thump, thump, thump, thump~”

A series of hurried pitter-patter sounds came from upstairs, and Yang Lele ran down the stairs in three steps, two at a time, and jumped onto Yang Dian, clinging to him:

“Big Brother, let Dudu come out and play with me!”

Yang Dian's hand, which was reaching out to steady Yang Lele, paused, then he raised his arm and tapped her on the head:

“Get off, don't touch me.”

“Just seeing you annoys me.”

“If you give me Dudu, you won't be annoyed!”

“Give it to me~ Give it to me~ Give it to me~”

Yang Dian, exasperated by her pestering, could only let Dudu exit the Fusion state and place it on Yang Lele's head:

“Where are Yang's Parents? Where did they go?”

As he spoke, he looked into the kitchen again.

The rice was already cooked, and two dishes were stir-fried, but the people were nowhere to be seen.

Yang Lele happily held Dudu and swayed it on her head:

“Third Uncle just came and called Yang's Parents to the ancestral hall to discuss something.”

At this point, she even looked up at Yang Dian:

“It seems the matter is related to you.”

“Third Uncle knows you joined that, whatchamacallit, Special Administration Bureau.”

“Special Administration Bureau.” Yang Dian corrected Yang Lele, then plopped down on the bench and opened the briefcase in his hand:

“Here, have an orange.”

Yang Lele took the orange and looked curiously at the oranges and 9 tubes of light blue oral solution in the box:

“Brother, oranges can just be packed in a bag, why put them in a box?”

“The box can even freeze, making it seem so high-end.”

“The oranges I give you, can they be compared to ordinary oranges?”

“Is this orange a heaven and earth treasure?” Yang Lele held the orange up to her eyes with a surprised expression:

“But when I saw it, I didn't get that feeling of wanting to eat it, you know?”

“Do I have to peel it?”

Yang Dian unhappily flicked her forehead:

“How can there be so many heaven and earth treasures?”

“This is a spiritual fruit, trifoliate orange, cultivated by the organization.”

“It's stronger than an ordinary orange, but it can't compare to a heaven and earth treasure.”

Yang Lele gave a silly smile:

“Brother, give me another orange, please.”

Turning to look at Yang Lele, Yang Dian saw that she was actively handing the orange to Dudu, who had extended a tentacle towards it:

“You're quite generous.”

Yang Dian took out another orange and put it into Yang Lele's hand:

“Your brother here can only buy 50 of these oranges a month.”

“Plus the few given with my salary, that's only 53.”

“And you, you give it to Dudu to eat.”

Yang Lele poked Yang Dian's calf with her toe:

“Then, Brother.”

“Have you ever fed Dudu an orange?”

Yang Dian said as a matter of course:

“Dudu is with me, so of course, I wouldn't let it starve.”

Yang Lele wrinkled her nose:

“Dudu was rescued by me, you know? If it weren't for me, it might have become dried jellyfish!”

“Isn't that right, Dudu?”

Dudu didn't speak, just kept peeling the orange and started devouring it.

“Stinky Dudu, not even paying attention to me. I'm not friends with you anymore!”

Amidst the playful bickering of the two siblings, the “creak~” of the courtyard gate being pushed open reached Yang Dian's ears.

Yang's Parents were back.

And the people who came were not just the two of them...
