589: The power of high latitudes

Just as Yang Dian was about to have the Dimension Butterfly open a spatial gate to the place where the light was rising to investigate, he saw the light, which had initially shot into the sky, suddenly expand, and in an instant, it transformed into irregular light screens.

Dr. Bai's communication arrived as the light screens unfolded:

"What happened to Earth? Why did such large light screens suddenly appear?"

Yang Dian glanced at the Japanese island below, which was now less than 10 kilometers in diameter, and said with some uncertainty:

"I don't know either."

"But it might... be related to the vanished Japanese island?"

Dr. Bai also looked at the island below, then turned his head towards the light screens:

"That's possible."

"The light screens have stopped expanding."

"From the satellite images, the light screens stopped at the border lines."

Yang Dian frowned:

"Didn't you finish reading all the information left by various civilizations in Wenlan Pavilion?"

"Have other Alien Planets ever experienced such changes?"

Dr. Bai shook his head slightly:

"No."

"Earth is quite special."

As he spoke, he gave another example:

"Looking at all the information of known civilizations, Earth is unique."

"Other Alien Planets and worlds have the concept of Awakening."

"But the probability of Awakening is extremely low."

"In cultivation worlds, Awakened abilities are called Innate Divine Abilities. Regardless of whether the Divine Ability is powerful or not, the probability of Awakening is roughly one in a million."

"In modern worlds, some worlds call Awakened abilities 'superpowers,' and some, like us, also call them 'abilities.'"

"In these worlds, the probability of ordinary people Awakening is between one in a million and one in ten million."

"But what about Earth?"

"As long as the Spiritual Qi concentration is high enough, there seems to be no upper limit to the probability of Awakening."

"This applies to humans, animals, and plants alike."

"They are all undergoing original revival."

"Not to mention others, just our China."

"Under the abundant supply of Spiritual Qi, the probability of Awakening has already reached 4.93%."

"On average, 5 out of every hundred people have Awakened abilities."

"In other worlds and Alien Planets, this is unimaginable."

"Besides this, Earth has other special characteristics."

"For example, under normal circumstances, the first Dimensional War usually begins about a hundred years after the Qi Revival."

"But us? In the 11th year of the Qi Revival, Earth proactively launched the first Dimensional War against the Lizardmen Alien Planet."

"The number of planetary debris falling from the Dimensional Rift is also somewhat abnormal."

"During Dimensional Wars in other worlds, about 10 pieces of planetary debris fall from the Dimensional Rift each year."

"But the planetary debris falling on Earth each year is more than 10 times that of other worlds, and this multiple is still increasing."

At this point, Dr. Bai retrieved a series of photos and projected them in front of Yang Dian:

"And look at these."

Yang Dian's gaze fell on the photos projected by Dr. Bai, and he found that they were pictures of animals.

The bottom layer showed ordinary wild beasts, above that were mutated beasts that had undergone mutation under the influence of the Qi Revival, then secondary mutated beasts, and at the very top were creatures like Nine-Tailed Foxes and Ying Dragons that the Dimension Butterfly had dug out from deep underground on Earth.

"After studying these mutated beasts, I found that rather than saying these guys are mutating, it's more accurate to say they are reverting to their ancestral forms."

Lowering his right hand, which had been pointing at the photos, Dr. Bai turned to Yang Dian, his expression serious as he said:

"Let's assume that, countless years ago, there might have been an incredibly powerful civilization on Earth."

"However, due to some accident, perhaps a Dimensional War, or other reasons."

"In short, that civilization was lost, leaving no trace of records, only a faint trace of Bloodline genes deep within our Bloodline."

"Based on this assumption, can't we consider that they might have left some secret contingency on Earth?"

"Once this contingency is activated, Earth will experience some changes beyond our expectations."

As he spoke, he looked at the light screens rising in the sky, then at the ten-mile-wide Japanese island below:

"These light screens are one of those changes."

"Changes in Earth's geographical environment due to external forces are the prerequisite for activating these hidden contingencies."

Yang Dian nodded thoughtfully after listening:

"What you said makes sense, but a guess is just a guess."

"To truly understand what those light screens are, we still need to conduct an on-site investigation."

As he spoke, Yang Dian had already flown with Dr. Bai to the edge of North Korea.

Affected by the sinking of the Japanese island, South Korea was also suffering.

Super-scale earthquakes, tsunamis, and typhoons successively occurred on the small peninsula. The South Koreans, who already had few survivors under the Machina disaster, were now even more scarce, with only one in a hundred remaining.

However, with the rise of the light screens, it was as if a stabilizing divine needle had been inserted into the peninsula.

The endless natural disasters seemed to have never happened, suddenly ending.

If it weren't for the cracked earth, the seawater pouring into the island, and the cities and forests torn apart by the strong winds, the surviving South Koreans would have thought that the half-month of doomsday earlier was a nightmare.

Watching the scattered South Koreans walk across the land ravaged by natural disasters and Machina, Yang Dian subconsciously took a step towards South Korea's territory.

Then, he felt a soft yet seemingly indestructible barrier blocking his way.

"These light screens..."

Reaching out and pressing on the light screen, leaving a palm print on it, a piece of information inexplicably appeared in Yang Dian's mind.

"The light screens are connected to Earth's Origin. If the light screens are shattered, Earth's Origin will also suffer damage?"

Dr. Bai, who heard Yang Dian's murmur, exchanged glances with him:

"I'm certain that known civilizations have never had similar records."

Yang Dian instinctively communicated with the Dimension Butterfly:

"Open a spatial gate; I want to go inside the light screens."

As the thought fell, Yang Dian's pupils involuntarily constricted.

"High-dimensional power?"

Dr. Bai, who was also studying the light screens, looked at Yang Dian:

"What high-dimensional power?"

Yang Dian pointed at the light screens:

"Just now, I asked the Dimension Butterfly to open a spatial gate to connect the inside and outside of the light screens."

"But the Dimension Butterfly reported back to me that these light screens are condensed using high-dimensional power."

"Its current power cannot cross these light screens and reach inside."

As he spoke, Yang Dian looked into Dr. Bai's eyes and said:

"In short."

"Before we research the nature of these light screens, we cannot open a spatial gate to enter them."

As he spoke, he looked towards North Korea.

South Korea is not far from North Korea, and Yang Dian could clearly see that a light screen had also risen in the direction of North Korea, isolating the territory inside and out.

"These light screens have protected them."

Dr. Bai didn't pay attention to the protected South Korea, but rather focused on the information contained in Yang Dian's words:

"You said, these light screens are a manifestation of high-dimensional power?"
