90: Super Weapon Selection, Mutation

Besides the flint that could emit high temperatures, the exhibition hall also contained seven exotic items.

They were: an energy stone the size of a washbasin, capable of storing a large amount of energy and releasing it instantly;

a dart bead the size of a marble, capable of inverting and altering gravity;

Gengjin, which existing methods could not affect in any way;

an ice soul the size of a fist, emitting an aura of extreme cold;

a seven-aperture crystal that, when struck, produced an ethereal sound, attracting beasts, insects, and birds to the vicinity, and allowing for simple command over them;

a phantom lure that emitted a special magnetic field, causing hallucinations if stared at for too long, making one feel as if their great-grandmother was floating around them;

and a star iron, spherical and the size of a washbasin, suspended in mid-air, with what appeared to be starlight shimmering within it.

All the exotic items were excellent.

Yang Dian wanted them all.

Unfortunately, he could only choose one.

After circling the exhibition hall a few times, Yang Dian first eliminated the flint, ice soul, seven-aperture crystal, and phantom lure.

The first three were incompatible with his nature, and he didn't want the phantom lure because he didn't want to see his great-grandmother.

As for the remaining four… Yang Dian turned his gaze to the old man beside him:

“Um… I have an idea for the super weapon I want.”

“I want it to have an indestructible defense and an unstoppable offense. Ideally, it should also be able to freely change its form.”

“Furthermore, if it could carry me in flight, unleash some energy attacks, and allow me to spatial jump to escape danger when encountered, that would be even better.”

The old man squinted at him:

“Not old, but quite ambitious.”

“Do you think you’re making a wish at a temple?”

“Wanting this and wanting that.”

“Why don’t you just say you want a super weapon that makes you invincible and capable of punching the Earth to smithereens?”

Yang Dian, thick-skinned as he was, continued the old man’s words:

“If such a super weapon truly exists, that would be the best.”

The old man was speechless.

He was clearly astonished by Yang Dian’s thick skin.

Seeing the old man remain silent, Yang Dian walked over to the Gengjin display case.

Safety, without a doubt, was the most important thing.

So, he pointed at the Gengjin and asked curiously:

“Gengjin is said to be indestructible, and existing methods cannot affect it in any way.”

“Then what kind of super weapon can be forged from it?”

“Nothing can be made from it,” the old man said, somewhat amused.

“It’s just placed here for you all to see, so you know such a thing exists.”

Saying that, he glanced at Yang Dian again:

“If it could really be forged into an exotic item, do you think it would be your turn?”

“It would have been chosen long ago.”

This time, it was Yang Dian’s turn to be speechless, a surge of frustration stifling his breath.

So, the old man also had a ‘childlike’ heart and enjoyed teasing people, did he?

Silently, Yang Dian approached the energy stone, pulled out his phone, and opened a pre-downloaded video.

In the video, a navy girl, shouldering a massive cannon, fired a devastating shot at a reef island:

“That cannon she’s carrying on her shoulder, is that also made from energy stone?”

The old man glanced at Yang Dian’s phone and gave him a thumbs-up:

“Good eyesight, young man. That energy-gathering cannon in her hand was personally forged by this old man two years ago.”

“The main Materials used were energy stones.”

“Technology is advancing rapidly. If you also want to fire a cannon, this old man can build you one twice as powerful as hers.”

What “fire a cannon” this and “fire a cannon” that.

The old man’s words were truly crude~

Adding the energy stone to his shortlist, Yang Dian then walked over to the dart bead:

“The dart bead can invert and alter gravity. What’s the maximum gravity it can adjust, and what’s the range of gravity alteration?”

The old man didn’t answer; instead, a line of text automatically lit up on the transparent glass of the display case.

“The dart bead can control gravity within a three-meter diameter, increasing or decreasing it by a maximum of 7 times.”

‘Is it the artificial intelligence of the Armed Research and Development Department?’

As thoughts whirled in his mind, Yang Dian’s eyes gradually brightened.

7 times gravity might not seem high, but it was certainly not small.

Especially when applied to living organisms.

If half of the body suddenly experienced 7 times gravity, while the other half remained at normal gravity.

How many carbon-based life forms could withstand such gravitational pull?

“After being forged into a super weapon, can it actively control the gravity alteration area?”

“For example, upon encountering an enemy, directly increase the gravity on the enemy’s brain, crushing it into pulp.”

The old man, who was following behind Yang Dian, scratched his head:

“With current technology, no.”

“We can only create a threshold. Once a specific threshold is activated, the gravity value within the range will either increase or decrease to the corresponding level.”

“Fine-tuned control is not yet possible.”

Yang Dian frowned:

“So, if I first lower the gravity to -7, and then raise it to 7, never mind the enemy, I myself would first have to endure an instantaneous 14-fold gravity difference?”

“You underestimate us!”

The old man tapped on the display case, bringing up several blueprints to showcase their idea:

“The dart bead’s influence diameter is 3 meters, and its radius is 1.5 meters.”

“So, we can absolutely forge a long-handled weapon, like a spear, between two and three meters long, or even up to three meters.”

“Then, embed the dart bead into the spearhead. You’d grip the spear shaft and swing it around to strike. How could it possibly affect you?”

“As for the spear shaft being difficult to control due to gravity’s influence.”

“Aren’t you a martial artist? Just practice more, and you’ll be fine.”

Yang Dian thought about it carefully, and indeed, it made sense.

Imagine holding a three-meter-long spear and thrusting it at an enemy.

Before the spearhead even reached, while still far away, the enemy would first suffer a seven-fold gravity crush.

Could they even react?

After mentally simulating the combat scenario, Yang Dian silently walked towards the last display case.

If such a long spear existed in ancient times, it would truly be capable of killing anyone who stood in its way, be they human or divine.

But this was the 21st century.

It was an era of technological explosion.

You’re holding a three-meter-long spear with a four-and-a-half-meter combat radius.

Someone else, eight hundred meters away, is also holding a gun.

But the gun in their hand is a Dragon Sniper, the kind that can land a headshot from eight hundred meters away.

How do you even play this game?

If one could control the magnitude and range of gravity at will, then a super weapon crafted from dart bead as the raw Materials would indeed be excellent.

But as it is now?

It still felt a bit lacking.

He paced over to the last display case, the one holding the star iron.

Yang Dian looked at the star iron in the display case and blinked:

“What are the star iron’s abilities? Why isn’t anything written on the display case?”

No text appeared on the display case.

Instead, the old man looked at the star iron with a conflicted expression:

“Actually, we’re not even sure if it’s matter or life.”

Saying that, the old man placed his hand on the display case.

The star iron, suspended in mid-air, trembled slightly.

Tiny, minuscule particles of dust rose from the star iron, slowly surging towards the spot where the old man’s hand was pressed.

“It reacts to people’s thoughts and provides feedback.”

Seeing this, Yang Dian, mimicking the old man, placed his hand on the display case.

The next moment, the dust particles floating from the star iron made a turn, moving at more than 10 times the previous speed, and adhered to the spot where Yang Dian had placed his hand.

“Crack~”

From the point where Yang Dian’s hand was pressed, the bulletproof glass display case developed numerous fine cracks…
