58: Alien White Feather

The human heart is more wicked than a ghost.

After learning that the detector could read neural signals, convert them into information, and connect to the internet, Yang Dian put it away on a high shelf.

After all, he didn't want his thoughts to be spied upon by others.

But undeniably, the detector was a good thing.

If he could avoid his thoughts being exposed, Yang Dian still wanted to make use of it.

Before, there was no way, and that was that.

But with Dudu, it was different.

After testing whenever he had a chance, Yang Dian found that Dudu could only receive information related to it from his thoughts.

For example, when he was directing Dudu to do something, or when Dudu came to mind.

Dudu would receive a unique 'signal' and respond.

Another example: when he thought about feeding Dudu energy, Dudu would immediately emit a cheerful emotion.

But if he had the thought that he wouldn't feed Dudu even if it meant wasting energy.

Dudu would wiggle its tentacles to gently coil around Yang Dian, or cover Yang Dian's head with its umbrella-like cap and gently contract it, expressing its displeasure.

But if Dudu wasn't in his thoughts.

For instance, thinking about beautiful women, or wasting energy on meaningless things, Dudu wouldn't give any feedback.

Therefore, wasn't Dudu the best consciousness isolator?

Reaching out, Yang Dian placed two tentacles on the spectacle frame, looked at the lenses, and said to Dudu:

"Dudu, transmit the power-on signal to it."

As the thought settled, a blue line appeared in the center of the lens, which then expanded, eventually turning into a whole field of tiny data, covering the entire lens.

"Nice~"

"Plan successful!"

Grabbing Dudu and placing it on his head, Yang Dian then said:

"Dudu, Fusion!"

"Oh, right, remember to extend two tentacles to also fuse with the glasses, don't let the glasses touch my skin and read my thoughts."

Dudu immediately showed reluctance.

Fusing with inanimate objects consumed a lot of its Physique.

"Do it well, and I'll reward you with more energy to eat later!"

Like a single-celled organism, Dudu, with only simple emotions and little ability to think, immediately became joyful.

Under Yang Dian's command, it completed his request in minutes.

Putting on the sunglasses, Yang Dian first uncomfortably adjusted the frame, then tried to give the sunglasses a command:

"Change the lens color to transparent."

As the thought settled, something that pleased Yang Dian happened.

The sunglasses did not change color with his thoughts, unlike the first time he wore them.

This meant that even if it had the ability to spy on the user's thoughts, it couldn't affect him now.

"This is great!"

After a compliment, Yang Dian's thoughts moved again.

'Dudu, make the sunglasses' lenses transparent.'

The next moment, the yellow lenses turned transparent.

Yang Dian then leaned back, lying on the bed contentedly:

"Dudu, I'll keep my word."

"From now on, you get seventy percent of the naturally growing energy every day."

It wasn't that Yang Dian was generous.

Mainly, Dudu's starlight energy was too effective.

0.7 points of energy, used for improving a Cultivation Technique, could only reduce the liver Physique requirement for one Cultivation Technique by 0.7 points.

But what if he fed it to Dudu?

After a wave of starlight energy feedback, it would reduce the requirement by a few tenths of a point at least, or several points at most.

Wasn't that much more cost-effective than using it directly?

"I just don't know if there's an upper limit to starlight energy enhancing the Physique."

"I hope it can keep improving like this..."

With a hint of anticipation and anxiety, Yang Dian entered the bathroom.

After washing up, he prepared to go out for breakfast.

But as soon as he opened the door, Yang Dian was called out by Second Uncle next door:

"Are you Little Yang's girlfriend? I haven't seen you before."

"If you're planning to live with Little Yang, remember to go to the neighborhood office and apply for a temporary residence permit."

Hearing Second Uncle's words, Yang Dian turned around with an awkward expression:

"Second Uncle, it's me."

Second Uncle was clearly startled, "Little Yang?"

"You, you, you..."

"I haven't seen you in two days, and your hair is so long?"

"You're even wearing glasses."

"From behind, you really look like a little girl~"

"How artistic, worthy of a writer."

As he spoke, he even 'tsk-tsk-tsked' as he walked around Yang Dian a few times:

"Where did you get this hair? It's so beautiful!"

"My old lady's hair is almost all gone, she said she wanted to buy a wig or get hair implants a couple of days ago."

"Recommend one to me."

Yang Dian subconsciously pushed his glasses:

"Alright, in a couple of days I'll get a wig for you, you can give it to Second Aunt then."

"But my wig is custom-made, the ones bought later might not be as good as mine."

"It's fine, close enough is good."

"And thank you, I'll transfer you the money, and I'll waive a month's rent for you!"

Yang Dian gave Second Uncle a thumbs up:

"You're so generous, Uncle!"

...After chatting with Second Uncle for a few more sentences, Yang Dian went downstairs and walked onto the street. Seeing the sparse pedestrians because it was still early, he tapped the frame of his glasses.

'Dudu, activate the detector, lock onto any wanted criminals appearing within the detection range, and search for and investigate any possible anomalies in the surroundings.'

As the thought settled, a small crosshair instantly appeared on the lens.

The crosshair quickly locked onto the faces of pedestrians and the surrounding scenery, then disappeared without a trace.

It would remain in standby mode until a target or special environment appeared, at which point the crosshair would reappear and directly lock onto the target.

"So, I'm wearing a walking criminal detector?"

Joking, Yang Dian then went to the familiar breakfast stall.

"Boss, the usual!"

Just as he spoke, the detector, which had been silent all along, suddenly activated.

The crosshair flickered, then firmly locked onto a white feather in a crack in the corner of the wall.

Moments later, a string of information appeared on the lens.

[Feather, pure white, feather length 25 cm, unknown energy detected at the root, no similar items detected in the database, suspected to be from a mutated creature.]

Yang Dian's gaze lingered on the feather locked by the crosshair for a moment, then swept over the breakfast stall.

The stall owner was clearly more haggard than a few days ago.

Her daughter was also not present at the breakfast stall.

Finding an empty seat, Yang Dian tapped the spectacle frame again:

'Dudu, retrieve Sun Yuwei's recent travel records.'

Sun Yuwei was Sun Li's daughter, the owner of the breakfast shop.

She was also Yang Dian's primary suspect.

He didn't know if Sun Li's daughter, Sun Yuwei, had undergone a mutation Awakening, or if Sun Yuwei had found an anomalous creature.

But a little investigation couldn't hurt.

Not long after the command was given, a long string of information appeared on the lens.

[Sun Yuwei, female, 17 years old, from Changle, Fuzhou, Minjiang Province, China...]

[Starting four days ago, Skynet has not recorded any travel by Sun Yuwei, but her phone is still in normal use.]

[Note: Sun Yuwei has covered the camera when using her phone, so details of her current status cannot be obtained.]

After reading the information, Yang Dian couldn't help but curl his lips.

As expected, the anomaly was related to Sun Yuwei.

What kind of normal person covers their camera for no reason?
