697: Ancient Evil

Dudu, who was hovering behind Yang Dian, didn't speak, only tightened the tentacles wrapped around Yang Dian's ankle, as if he was very afraid of Yang Dian entering the Heavenly Palace.

"I'm not going in."

Only after hearing Yang Dian's promise did Dudu release the tentacles wrapped around him, flying to Yang Dian's side with two silkworms, pushing Little Black Cat aside, and nudging Yang Dian's chest with his umbrella-like cap, emitting a happy "Dudu" sound.

"You little thing,"

Rubbing Dudu's umbrella-like cap, Yang Dian casually placed Little Black Cat on his shoulder, then continued to fly upwards for a while, his gaze passing over the human wall and tall gates, falling upon the majestic Heavenly Palace.

Bells chimed like threads, Dao sounds were incessant.

It was no different from the mirage seen before.

But what if he were to descend and arrive before the palace gates?

Within the Heavenly Palace, wisps of mist rose from the lotus flowers in the pond and the brocade clusters in the altars, condensing into flowers that formed a long river, surging out of the palace from the main entrance and scattering across the heavens and earth.

Looking at the Heavenly Palace from different angles revealed two completely different appearances.

Before the main entrance of the Heavenly Palace, watching the gradually thickening mist within, Yang Dian inexplicably felt a hint of trepidation.

'If I go in, something bad will definitely happen.'

The unreliable Dao of fate showed no movement.

He didn't know if it was because the Heavenly Palace transcended fate, or because the Dao of fate he controlled was too insignificant to illuminate the fate of the Heavenly Palace.

In short, Yang Dian felt some lingering fear.

'If I had entered the Heavenly Palace in that 'Enlightenment' state just now...'

Putting everything else aside, Yang Dian would definitely not have had time to react if he encountered danger.

"It's a good thing I have you."

Hearing Yang Dian's murmur, Dudu immediately flipped over in Yang Dian's arms, his tentacles swaying in the wind, tracing arcs that were refreshing to the heart.

Stretching out his index finger, he played with one of Dudu's tentacles for a while, then Yang Dian refocused his attention on the Heavenly Palace.

Perhaps because Yang Dian remained still for a long time, the golden flowers flying out from the main entrance of the Heavenly Palace lessened.

Not only did the golden flowers lessen.

Even the ethereal Dao sounds emanating from within the Heavenly Palace weakened considerably.

The Heavenly Palace, which had originally appeared incredibly real, now seemed somewhat illusory.

"Is this because too much energy has been consumed?"

Muttering to himself, Yang Dian looked at Dudu again:

"You say, after the golden flowers stop, will there be danger if we enter through the main entrance?"

Dudu didn't speak, only extended his tentacles to weave a net in front of Yang Dian, blocking his path forward.

"Is there still danger?"

Sensing danger was an ability Dudu gained after waking from his slumber.

In short, he could sense danger in advance before it arrived, thus avoiding it.

Don't underestimate this ability; if used well, it could truly be called invincible.

Moreover, the range of this crisis perception was very large.

In any case, Dudu couldn't describe how large the specific sensing range was.

Before this, he had only sensed danger in the direction of the sun.

Of course, it didn't mean that danger was approaching, but rather that the sun itself was dangerous.

Not just Earth's sun.

The suns of Tiannan Star and Emerald Dragon Star were all dangerous.

Aside from the suns, this open-doored Heavenly Palace before him was the second area Dudu had sensed to contain danger.

Yang Dian gazed at the Heavenly Palace for a long time, until the golden flowers no longer scattered, the Dao sounds were as faint as gossamer, the entire palace grew dim and shadowless, and the palace gates began to close, only then did Yang Dian let out a slight sigh of relief.

'Perhaps the danger within the Heavenly Palace cannot escape?'

No sooner had the thought arisen than Yang Dian felt an indescribable great terror descend.

His heart felt as if it were clutched by a cold, shadowy hand, his Soul as if frozen solid by ten thousand years of ice, completely still.

The entire world seemed to be frozen.

Only a scarlet vertical eye, just before the palace completely closed, peered through the crack in the door, firmly imprinted in Yang Dian's mind, impossible to erase.

"Dudu? Dudu?"

The anxious calls seemed to come from the horizon, washing away the vertical eye imprinted in Yang Dian's mind and seeping into his heart.

"Hiss ~"

Subconsciously taking a deep breath, Yang Dian's hair bristled instantly, and he moved his feet, retreating ten miles in an instant.

Looking at the slightly illusory mirage, which seemed as if it would disappear from the world with the next gust of wind, he returned to the palace gates before anyone else could react.

With a thought, he summoned the Dimension Butterfly.

Just as he was about to dispatch the Dimension Butterfly to pass through the gate and explore the real Heavenly Palace, Yang Dian hesitated again.

Earth was a bit ridiculous.

The layer of light curtain rising on the national border could block the Dimension Butterfly's traversal, indicating that Earth had once been involved in dimensional power.

At least a power of the same Rank as the Dimension Butterfly after its demotion.

If the border was like this, what kind of contingency would such a mysterious place leave behind?

Thinking of that spine-chilling great terror, Yang Dian, still cautious, recalled the Dimension Butterfly.

'Be steady.'

'No rush.'

'Since that danger can't come out now, don't gild the lily and mess things up.'

'Whether it's a loss to the Dimension Butterfly or unleashing a danger that wouldn't otherwise appear, neither is acceptable to me right now.'

Thinking of this, Yang Dian again surveyed the garrison soldiers who had re-donned their mechs and were watching him from afar.

He waved to the person in charge, Lieutenant Colonel Liu Qiang, and only after he approached did Yang Dian speak:

"It's true that there is Legacy in the Dao sounds that can make people comprehend the Dao, but that doesn't mean there's no danger."

Looking back at the palace, Yang Dian slowly exhaled:

"The Heavenly Palace contains great danger; even I, as I am now, may not have the strength to resolve it, and if I were to go inside, I would most likely get trapped."

Watching Lieutenant Colonel Liu Qiang's pupils rapidly constrict, feeling the uncontrollable fear emanating from him, Yang Dian continued:

"So next, I will have the Machina seal off this area, to prevent anyone or any birds or fish from accidentally encountering the danger within."

Lieutenant Colonel Liu Qiang instantly straightened up:

"What do you need us to do?"

Yang Dian waved his hand:

"You don't need to do anything."

"Just don't let anyone get close to this area."

As his voice fell, Yang Dian stretched out his right hand and casually made a gesture.

A hundred miles away, a huge gap opened in the sky.

Then, countless Machina, carrying curved armor plates, flew out of the gap and arrived beneath the mirage, assembling the armor.

"To be on the safe side, I've arranged for Zero to completely surround the mirage."

Lieutenant Colonel Liu Qiang stared blankly at the black line in the sky:

"Uh, why didn't you open the spatial gate next to the Jade Pond?"

Yang Dian glanced at him:

"To be on the safe side."

These four words once again let Lieutenant Colonel Liu Qiang know how seriously Yang Dian viewed the danger within the mirage.

Thinking of this, he raised his hand and saluted Yang Dian:

"General Yang, I will now arrange for patrols to ensure that not even a fly can enter this area."

Yang Dian nodded:

"Go."

No sooner had Lieutenant Colonel Liu Qiang left than Yang Dian's wristband began to flash again.

He casually tapped the wristband, and Dr. Bai's figure was projected beside Yang Dian.

He glanced at the somewhat illusory Heavenly Palace, said nothing, and simply fixed his gaze on Yang Dian.

Yang Dian slowly exhaled:

"Old Ancestor, he might not be a good person, you know ~"

Hearing Yang Dian's sigh, Dr. Bai pursed his lips:

"I know."

With that, he directly closed the communication and disappeared from in front of Yang Dian.

After watching the spot where Dr. Bai disappeared for a while, Yang Dian looked back at the Heavenly Palace.

"Heh ~"

"The feeling of not having all the pressure on me, it actually feels pretty good..."
