404: Aliens, Bones
Upon hearing Wang Wu's muttering, countless question marks immediately appeared in the live stream's bullet comments for the World of the Strange.
People are forgetful.
Even though Wang Wu had appeared on the Star News Broadcast in his Xiezhi form, a mere few seconds were not enough for people to remember him in this information age where data is as vast as the ocean.
"So, this is also one of the hidden big shots of our Huaxia?"
"Isn't that obvious? Who but a big shot could be wrapped in so many bandages and still be bouncing around alive?"
"He looks a bit familiar, I think I've seen the bandage monster somewhere."
"Are you referring to mummies?"
Just as discussions about Wang Wu's identity were heating up online, a dull yellow color appeared in his eyes.
But just as his skin began to twist irregularly, parasites were about to burst from his eyes, and his body was transforming into a Xiezhi, he remembered something.
'Is Tongtong watching the live stream too?'
'Even if Tongtong isn't watching now, will there be live stream clips circulating later that show her me with parasites crawling out of my body?'
As these two thoughts arose, the dull yellow color in Wang Wu's eyes vanished, and the parasites that were about to burst out of his body were unwillingly suppressed back into the depths of his body.
Ever since he started Cultivating the Spark Visualization Method, the parasites' influence on him had been steadily decreasing.
Although he still lost control from time to time, these were controllable instances of losing control.
For example, one second the parasites would burst out, and the next second he would control them, suppressing them back under his skin.
'A minimum of three months, a maximum of one year.'
'I will be able to completely control the parasites, and even obliterate their consciousness, taking full command of them.'
'I should also go back and see my daughter.'
With a hint of anticipation for life, Wang Wu strode to the residential building and lifted his foot.
"Bang!"
The thick iron door was kicked flying by him, and the strange creature hiding behind it was carried along by the door, embedding itself firmly into the wall.
Looking at the blue blood flowing down from the iron door, Wang Wu couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.
"A weird?"
"Is that all?"
As soon as he spoke, countless bullet comments saying "A weird? Is that all?" appeared in the live stream.
Amidst the flurry of bullet comments, Wang Wu strode towards the second floor of the residential building.
He kicked open the door of room 201 and, following a faint breathing sound, Wang Wu entered a pink-decorated bedroom.
Under the bed in the bedroom, a plump cat-girl in a black and white maid outfit, cradling a scrawny fox-girl, was curled up in the corner of the bed.
When she heard the sound of the downstairs door being kicked open, she had already hugged the fox-girl and crawled under the bedroom bed.
After hearing the living room door outside the bedroom being kicked open, she even reached out and tightly covered the fox-girl's mouth, afraid that the girl would make a sound and attract the monster's attention.
But reality often dictates that what you fear most is what happens.
Looking at the pair of feet that appeared at the bedroom doorway and walked straight towards her, the cat-girl closed her eyes in despair.
"Can't I do it after all?"
"Mommy, Lillian is going to die too, I just hope that monster doesn't like to eat live things, and can give Lillian a quick end."
Amidst her soft prayers, the cat-girl felt the dim surroundings brighten.
Opening her eyes, she immediately saw a monster over two meters tall, wrapped in bandages, lifting the heavy solid wood bed with one hand, its greedy eyes fixed on her.
Her body instinctively trembled twice, then the cat-girl Lillian immediately hid the emaciated fox-girl behind her, propped herself up, and knelt before Wang Wu:
"Sir, if you are hungry, please enjoy Lillian."
"Vivian is still small and even skinnier; she's not tasty at all."
Wang Wu, who could understand Lillian's words despite never having heard the language of the World of the Strange, fell silent.
"So, you made yourself so fat and starved this little fox so thin, hoping to offer yourself as food to satisfy the weird, so this little fox can live."
The cat-girl's pupils sharply contracted upon hearing Wang Wu's words.
'An Advanced weird that can communicate?'
'Will I be enough to satisfy such an existence?'
Just as the cat-girl was in despair, she felt darkness envelop her.
Wang Wu put down the solid wood bed he was holding.
As the cold, hard bed board pressed against her back, the cat-girl raised her head from the ground, somewhat bewildered.
'He's not eating me?'
In her confusion, she saw the feet that had stopped in front of the bed turn around.
At the same time, Wang Wu's slightly disappointed voice reached her ears.
"If you have the courage to offer yourself as food, then why not resist?"
"You're going to die either way, so why not tear off a piece of the weird's flesh before you die?"
"If you don't even have the courage to fight to the death, then your world truly has no hope."
"Your race doesn't deserve sympathy either."
"Hope, huh?" The cat-girl murmured, then heard a series of wind chimes from a distance.
The glimmer of light that had just appeared in her eyes dimmed with the sound of the wind chimes; she opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end, said nothing, merely hugging the fox-girl behind her and curling up tightly in the corner of the bed.
Wang Wu, who had already walked out of the bedroom, also heard the sound of wind chimes from afar.
He strode to the window, looking in the direction from which the wind chimes came, and his eyes suddenly narrowed.
At the edge of his vision, a tall figure had appeared at some unknown time.
The figure was humanoid, without flesh and blood, its entire body assembled from various biological bones covered in deep brown mold spots.
Its joints were translucent, snake-like flexible black nerve bundles.
Flowing mist moved over its skeleton, and with each step, the mist would flow into the hollow bones, emitting a crisp wind chime sound.
Sensing the threat emanating from the humanoid skeleton, Wang Wu's brain nerves began to pound, and the parasites within his body seemed ready to burst forth at any moment.
"This is the true weird, isn't it?"
As Wang Wu murmured, the monster seemed to sense his gaze, and the giant skeleton abruptly turned its head, its bony skull—a Fusion of a deformed bird's beak and a humanoid creature—staring intently at Wang Wu.
In a trance, Wang Wu saw the skull's lower jaw begin to open and close, and a constantly pulsating, dark purple glow appeared within the empty cranium.
A series of unintelligible whispers and the "clack" sound of bones rubbing together then echoed within his skull.
The "clack" sound continuously reverberated in Wang Wu's mind, making his gaze gradually unfocused, and also causing the bones in his body to constantly tremble.
Beneath his bandage-covered body, protrusions resembling bones began to appear.
Those bones seemed about to detach from his body and merge into that humanoid skeleton.
"Oh no, it seems he's been affected, he's not going to bite the dust, is he?"
Just as Wang Wu was affected, Yang Dian, standing in the Star Core Space, finally connected with Wang Wu.
"Consciousness can transcend dimensions..."
