691: Yang Dian: I have double standards.
A scene in the university reading room was just a microcosm of the vast land of Huaxia.
As Yang Dian liberated another planet, and news spread that Huaxia's affiliated Blessed Land was about to increase by one, the previously somewhat calm land of Huaxia immediately stirred up ripples.
There were discussions about the new world, about fantastical races, and about the king who cosplayed as Kennedy, a truly imaginative character.
In short, with the news of Emerald Dragon Star's liberation, people who had been anxious due to not hearing from Yang Dian for a long time finally found their backbone, and even their Martial Artist training became more spirited.
If Yang Dian were to return to Earth now, he would surely hear remarks like, 'I knew the commander must be up to something big; how could anything happen to him?' echoing across the land of Huaxia.
Of course, this is a false premise.
Yang Dian was still on Emerald Dragon Star and could not hear the discussions about him on the land of Huaxia.
He could only see Ku Li Pa and a richly dressed young woman behind him show anxious expressions after the old king was lifted away by two mechs.
"My God..."
Seeing Ku Li Pa's hesitant expression and the young woman's teary eyes, Yang Dian couldn't help but smile:
"You want to plead for him?"
Before Ku Li Pa could even nod, Yang Dian's expression turned serious as he continued:
"You can't plead for him."
Before they could ponder the meaning of Yang Dian's words, two more pitch-black mechs, which seemed like the scythes of death in everyone's eyes, descended from the sky, flashing red lights.
"Melanie Saker, the Seventh Princess of the Maple Leaf Empire, habitually rode a unicorn to rampage through crowded markets. Records show she trampled to death one three-year-old child, one seventy-year-old woman, and several young adults. She also fed living people to Demonic Beasts."
"According to the Huaxia Moral Tribunal's review, you are guilty, sentenced to death, to be executed immediately..."
As the voice fell, the mech lifted the Seventh Princess of the Maple Leaf Empire, who emitted a foul odor from her lower body, and flew towards the execution ground.
Ku Li Pa opened his mouth, wanting to plead again.
But looking at the terrified eyes of the three-year-old child before the unicorn's horn pierced his body, he ultimately just stretched out his hand, trembled, and couldn't say anything.
Soon after Melanie Saker was taken away, two more mechs descended towards the city wall.
The Dark Elf Princess, who clearly remembered her past actions, suddenly stood up, drew the dark golden dagger from her inner thigh, and thrust it directly at Yang Dian.
"Clang~"
A crisp sound of metal clashing echoed on the city wall, and facing Yang Dian's slightly mocking gaze, the Dark Elf's eyes constricted in madness:
"He wants to kill everyone!"
"No resistance, only death!"
Amidst the Dark Elf's scream, Yang Dian extended two fingers to pinch the dark golden dagger stuck in his chest, and with a crisp "clang~" it snapped into two.
"You fled in disarray from the Dragon Clan, yet you dare to draw a blade against me?"
"Do you think I am very merciful?"
Casually flicking away the broken dagger, watching the Dark Elf Princess, a Martial Artist, fall with a gurgling sound from her throat, Yang Dian looked at Ku Li Pa again.
"Do you remember your original oath?"
Ku Li Pa was silent for a moment before speaking:
"Everyone is equal; the guilty shall be punished."
Yang Dian nodded, confirming he hadn't forgotten, then continued:
"What if the criminal is yourself, or someone close to you?"
Ku Li Pa took a deep breath, his voice trembling slightly:
"The same crime."
Yang Dian curled his lips:
"What if the criminal is yourself?"
Recalling the scenes from the past few years, Ku Li Pa opened his mouth, and finally, somewhat hoarsely, uttered three words:
"I am guilty."
"Although I did not actively kill ordinary people, during my battles with others, thousands died in the aftermath of those battles."
"And most of these deaths and injuries could have been avoided."
"I did not properly discipline my subordinates; I knew they abused ordinary people with their power, but because they were closer to me, I did nothing."
"Therefore, I am guilty."
Just as Yang Dian curled his lips, the Centaur Chieftain suddenly took two steps forward, came between Yang Dian and Ku Li Pa, and raised her long spear towards Yang Dian:
"Hypocritical God!"
"If you are so benevolent, why did you watch the Dragon Clan slaughter the Human Race?"
"If I'm not mistaken, your influence must have pushed Pa onto this path of uniting the hundred races against the Dragon Clan, right?"
"If you were truly so benevolent, why did you invade our world in this manner, instead of ruling us with a gentler approach?"
"You are nothing but a thoroughly hypocritical God!"
Looking at the Centaur Chieftain, whose spear point was aimed directly at him and whose eyes blazed with anger.
He glanced at the others standing behind Ku Li Pa, trying to minimize their presence.
Yang Dian smiled:
"Among Ku Li Pa's many women, you are the only one who counts as a person of substance."
As he spoke, more mechs flew down from the high heavens, and with each declaration of guilt, they took away high-ranking officials, generals who commanded armies, soldiers who lorded over others... and those called the Emerald Pearls, the flowers of various races.
"War is not a crime."
Yang Dian stood with his hands behind his back, looking at the land outside the city, stained with Dragon blood, his voice extremely cold:
"In a clash of civilizations, unless you surrender early, it's either life or death."
"For survival, war itself is not a crime, is it?"
"The guilty ones are merely those who, having gained a little power, consider themselves superior and wish to lord over their own kind."
Saying that, Yang Dian pointed towards the city gate again.
On the ground soaked with Dragon blood, Rays of light lit up.
Some gun muzzles spewed flames.
Some plasma lightsabers cut through the night sky.
Some high-energy particle rays lingered endlessly.
That was the final judgment for the evildoers.
When everyone on the city wall was dead, dead, dead.
Looking at the Centaur Chieftain and Ku Li Pa, who were the last ones left on the city wall, Yang Dian waved his hand at the two machines that descended from the sky again.
After the mechs departed, Yang Dian looked at the Centaur Chieftain with some emotion.
"I didn't expect you to be innocent."
"I was right before."
"You are a person of substance."
The Centaur tightened her grip on the long spear:
"I have initiated hundreds of wars, and personally killed over ten thousand intelligent beings, including many civilians who had no combat ability."
"I am innocent?"
Yang Dian sat on the city wall, swinging his feet:
"I said, war is not a crime."
"What if other civilizations invaded your world and waged war against you?"
Yang Dian turned back, revealing a smile.
His snow-white teeth glowed with a cold light in the moonlight.
"Then, naturally, we would send their entire race to Hell."
Looking at the Centaur's eyes, and knowing what she wanted to say without needing to guess, Yang Dian turned his head back, his tone flat:
"I am just that hypocritical."
"This is another truth of the world."
"Only the words of the strong matter."
Ku Li Pa opened his mouth, then finally said, somewhat desolately:
"Then will the people on Emerald Star live the life you once spoke of in the future?"
Turning back to look at Ku Li Pa, who no longer called him God, Yang Dian nodded slightly:
"Yes."
"Of course, on the premise that they are smart enough."
After speaking, Yang Dian jumped off the city rampart, patted Ku Li Pa's shoulder, looked at him deeply, and finally disappeared from his sight...
