74: Yang Dian: Am I being suppressed?
The moment Yang Dian saw the shadow, his brows furrowed instantly.
The shadow was generally circular, with several irregular tentacles radiating from its periphery.
Although it was just a large shadow appearing beneath the surface of the sea.
No matter how Yang Dian looked at it, he felt it resembled an Octopus.
'Another Neptune Octopus?'
'Are Octopuses really that prone to mutation, and can they grow into Sea King Class Creatures in such a short time?'
Just as Yang Dian was wondering, a tentacle suddenly shot out of the sea in the video, climbed up the cliff Face, dug around for a while, and then dragged something, disappearing beneath the surface.
Seeing the tentacle with a scabbed tip, Yang Dian's pupils suddenly contracted:
"This guy is the Neptune Octopus that showed up on our side the night before last!"
Yang Dian reached out and dragged the video's progress bar back to the scene where the Octopus tentacle was climbing up the cliff Face:
"Look here, it has obvious signs of breakage and scabbing here."
"When we fought the Neptune Octopus last time, we blew off a section of its tentacle."
"That tentacle is still kept in our Research Institute."
Zhou Lin and Yang Wei instinctively exchanged glances.
"The coastline from Changle to our side is nearly a thousand kilometers long, with the Taiwan Strait in between. How could the Neptune Octopus have come to our side?"
Yang Dian shook his head, indicating he didn't know either.
Just after shaking his head, he thought of something else and dragged the video again.
After checking frame by frame, he finally extracted a slightly blurry image from the video footage:
"It's clear the Neptune Octopus's tentacle went up the cliff looking for something."
"Look here."
"Doesn't it look like a box?"
After staring at the screen for a while, Yang Wei suddenly took out his phone and made a call.
A moment later, the call connected, and he didn't bother with pleasantries, speaking directly:
"Captain Lin, we've seen the video you sent. The Mutant creature that appeared in Huishui Bay has been confirmed to be the Neptune Octopus that appeared in Yangjiao Bay in Fuzhou City the day before yesterday."
"The Neptune Octopus appeared in Huishui Bay to dig something out of that cliff."
"I remember you deployed several surveillance cameras in Huishui Bay, didn't you?"
"Retrieve the footage from a while ago and see if you can find anything useful!"
Yang Wei, who had hung up the call, looked at Yang Dian:
"I've already had the Second Brigade investigate; I'm sure we'll get a response soon."
'What's with this posture of reporting to me?'
Yang Dian had an uncontrollable urge to complain.
He wanted to leave after making the call.
There were still four mutated marine creatures waiting for him to transport back to Fuzhou.
Although he had at least built up a bit of camaraderie now.
But if his comrades found out he was secretly moving things from their home, wouldn't he lose even more Face?
Just as Yang Dian was feeling the urge to complain, Zhou Lin, standing nearby, walked over to Yang Dian with a carefree attitude.
Since she couldn't pat his shoulder, she instead patted Yang Dian's elbow:
"You're a Second-Level Peacekeeper, and your strength has reached the street level."
"With such merit and strength, if not a Deputy Director, being a main combat squad leader shouldn't be a problem, right? How are you still just a squad member?"
"What, are your Special Administration Bureau leaders suppressing you?"
"Why don't you consider transferring to our Huizhou?"
"Although our Huizhou isn't as prosperous as Fuzhou, if you come to our side, your authority will definitely be greater than if you stayed in Fuzhou."
"Putting everything else aside."
"We're just about to form the Seventh Squad here; as long as you come, you'll be the Captain of the Seventh Squad."
"If you're not satisfied with the Seventh Squad not being fully staffed, you can also directly join our Second Squad, and I'll give you the Captain position!"
Yang Dian looked at Zhou Lin with some surprise:
"You can agree to such a position with just a word?"
"The Director of our Huizhou Special Administration Bureau is Captain Zhou's uncle," Yang Wei mentioned, then continued:
"Of course, letting you be Captain isn't because Captain Zhou's uncle is the Director."
"You have enough strength, enough merit, and if you're willing to transfer to our Huizhou, arranging a Captain position for you is only right."
As he spoke, Yang Wei glanced with lingering fear at the large red crab that had settled on the beach.
A pistol shot could only leave a white mark on its carapace, yet Yang Dian could crush the carapace with one claw, tearing through muscle and pulling out the crab's leg tendons.
Add to that his speed, which was almost impossible to follow, and his strength and defense, which allowed him to withstand the crab's pincers without falling or being injured.
His strength, he felt, was no worse than their Director's.
To be honest, he couldn't understand why the Special Administration Bureau in Fuzhou would suppress such a strong person.
Were they really not afraid of a common man's rage, leading to bloodshed?
But how could Yang Wei know?
Yang Dian had not even been in the Special Administration Bureau for a full week.
Perhaps the Director and Deputy Director of the Fuzhou Paranormal Management Bureau, who were on a business trip in the capital, didn't even know of Yang Dian's existence.
Yang Dian had only met a small fraction of the members of the Fuzhou Special Administration Bureau's combat brigade!
Just as he was about to decline Zhou Lin's invitation, Yang Wei's phone suddenly rang.
He answered and put it on speakerphone, and a remarkably steady male voice entered everyone's ears.
"Through investigation, we found that someone went to the Huishui Bay cliff 26 days ago and buried something."
"Because it was late at night, and it was raining heavily that night, the footage captured was not clear."
"But we subsequently used road surveillance to check passing vehicles and pedestrians, eventually locking onto a vehicle with license plate number Yue L*****."
"During that time, only this vehicle's travel trajectory was abnormal when passing through the Huishui Bay area."
"The vehicle disappeared after the first camera and took a full 79 minutes longer to reach the next camera's location."
"The Huishui Bay cliff is located exactly in the middle area between the two cameras."
"Upon investigation, the vehicle is registered under Huang Wenyao, the manager of Huangjia No. 8 Clubhouse, and according to road surveillance, the driver of the vehicle that day was also Huang Wenyao."
"Huang Wenyao has a history of drug use, gang involvement, and assault; he is a key surveillance target for us."
"However, no relevant chat information was found in his communication software."
"Due to the seriousness of the case and the fact that the Special Administration Bureau's combat squads are all on missions, I have contacted the Martial Security Bureau and coordinated with Wuan Bureau personnel to apprehend Huang Wenyao."
"It is estimated that Huang Wenyao can be apprehended and brought to justice in 15 minutes."
After the voice on the other end of the phone finished speaking, Yang Wei continued:
"Received, Captain Lin, please notify me when you have more news."
Seeing Yang Wei hang up, Yang Dian immediately gave a thumbs up:
"Your efficiency is outstanding."
Yang Wei smiled:
"In a modern society, how can efficiency not be fast?"
What he said made sense.
In modern society, it all depends on whether the organization wants to manage it or not.
If they don't want to manage it, under the Sky Net surveillance, sewage overflows, they declare the water quality Passed, just rich in nutrients, making a big deal into a small one, and a small one into nothing.
If they really want to manage it, a ride-hailing driver discusses a strike in a group chat at night, and the same day a Policeman calls, and the next day someone comes to check the water meter.
Do you really think there's privacy?
