865: The Future in Dreams

Dream.

Looking at the anti-gravity single-person flying vehicles zipping across the sky, the various Alien Planet creatures—big, small, ugly, or beautiful—being walked on the ground, and the pedestrians whose bodies were clearly modified with biological and mechanical parts, Xie Fei was deeply shocked.

'Is the future like this?'

As his thoughts churned, Xie Fei turned his head to look around.

He was currently standing in a huge central plaza, surrounded by people walking to and fro who looked human.

"Why are there so many alien races?"

"Where the hell did this bring me? Is this still Earth?"

"Also, shouting the names of General Yang or Dr. Bai in a place like this?"

He scratched his head, and plagued by his pathetic sense of shame, he ultimately didn't do it.

Although it was a dream, it was a dream derived from him.

But after all, he didn't have social butterfly syndrome; even in a dream, he couldn't bring himself to 'relieve himself' in public.

"I only burned 179.5 years of my lifespan, so this should be the world 17 years after the Great Dream, right?"

Then he rose just over a meter off the ground before falling back down.

"Is there some invisible, intangible force suppressing my strength, limiting me to the power of an ordinary person?"

While muttering to himself, Xie Fei saw his wristband light up with a red glow.

After glancing at the red warning on his wristband, Xie Fei looked around the massive plaza again.

"Is this the South Heaven Gate?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the red light on the wristband instantly turned pitch black.

Xie Fei swallowed hard.

"Huh?"

"17 years later, are we this fierce?"

"But if we're this fierce, how did we get invaded by monsters..."

Before he could even figure anything out, the space in front of him rippled, and someone walked out of the spatial barrier with a swagger, wearing large sunglasses, a straw in his mouth, a floral shirt, shorts, and flip-flops:

"Name, identity, age, which civilization are you from? Did you come to Earth on purpose or by accident? Are you looking for a fight?"

Feeling the unbridled aura radiating from the person, Xie Fei couldn't help but swallow hard:

"Big Boss, I'm Xie Fei, Chinese, a genuine one."

Hearing this, the man's eyes instantly turned golden. He looked Xie Fei up and down for a good while before taking out a walkie-talkie:

"Hello? Captain? It's me, Little Li."

"Yes, it's the mission the System just assigned; I can't handle it."

"He clearly knows nothing about our situation here and is suspected of being subject to Possession, yet his Soul radiates a pure Chinese aura, and his Spark is burning; there's nothing wrong with him at all."

"I feel like a big fish has arrived."

As he finished speaking, the world seemed to hit the pause button, and then snowflakes began to fall from the sky.

The pure white snowflakes traced angular arcs across the sky, and the entire world began to become fragmented before reversing like a mirror image.

Amidst the heavy snow, Shi Sheng approached Xie Fei with a swaggering gait, then frowned as well:

"Tsk." Shi Sheng walked around Xie Fei:

Xie Fei swallowed hard, looked at Shi Sheng and Li Li, then raised his head and called out somewhat quietly:

"Louder."

Xie Fei closed his eyes and shouted:

"General Yang? It's me, Xie Fei! You told me to come! Do something about this!"

A few seconds later, it was calm.

The 'world' remained mirrored on the other side of the real world, and Yang Dian did not appear.

Shi Sheng shrugged:

"Your luck doesn't seem to be very good; he doesn't seem to have heard you."

"But your luck doesn't seem too bad either; it's fortunate he didn't come."

"Kid, you'd better come back to the Special Administration Bureau with me."

Xie Fei didn't want to go to the bureau, nor did he want to waste the Great Dream he had activated by burning 179.5 years of his lifespan.

After a flash of inspiration reminded him of a certain rumor, he decided to just let it all hang out, looked up, and screamed at the top of his lungs:

"Yang Dian, your sister is dating a blonde guy!"

As the words fell, the world truly went quiet.

The cold air Shi Sheng exhaled froze in front of his chest, the snowflakes curling down from the sky solidified in mid-air, and the humanoid races outside the mirrored world froze with their feet lifted in mid-air.

Yang Dian appeared from the void, his eyes devoid of emotion staring at Xie Fei.

Shi Sheng stood behind Yang Dian, gave Xie Fei a thumbs up, and silently mouthed the words 'You're awesome'.

But just as Shi Sheng silently mouthed those three words, Yang Dian's cold eyes blinked and gradually began to warm up.

"I suppose it was hard on you."

"To actually think of this method to call me over."

Xie Fei scratched the back of his head, somewhat embarrassed:

"Um, isn't it rumored that you're a protective brother fanatic, General? That's why I thought of this method."

As he said this, he scratched his head again and said:

"General, what now?"

Yang Dian cast his gaze toward the outside of the mirrored world:

"I have already learned the source of those mutations."
