105: Chapter 15 Who Broke Down?

"Am I the boss, or are you?"

"It's settled. The project team will be split into two groups. One will research the project for bidding, and the other will create a similar software based on Shen Yan's."

With that, she waved her hand and walked out of the conference room, leaving the helpless Employees looking at each other.

On the other side, Shen Yan had no idea that Chen Ling planned to plagiarize their software.

He was still staring at the software's backend data.

The promotional video was very effective.

New users were constantly flooding into the software.

The feedback from these new users after using the software was also very positive.

Seeing the data climb steadily.

Shen Yan was grinning from ear to ear with joy.

"Everyone, work hard today and put in some overtime. Let's compile all the user feedback and then discuss the changes."

"Don't worry, once the data stabilizes, I'll give you all a generous bonus."

After painting a rosy picture for the Employees, Shen Yan continued to monitor the data.

They worked overtime until late at night.

Until the Employees had finished their work and gone home.

He was still in the office organizing user feedback.

Although most users gave positive reviews, some still provided suggestions.

He compiled all these suggestions into a document, planning to discuss how to make changes with everyone tomorrow.

After finishing the last bit of work, he turned off his computer.

He walked out of the company.

He noticed someone standing on a nearby rooftop.

At first, he thought he had misseen, but then he realized he hadn't; that person was climbing over the railing on the rooftop.

Saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda.

Shen Yan couldn't just stand by and watch someone seek death.

So he bolted and ran straight toward that building.

"Ding-dong!"

The elevator reached the top floor.

He saw the person who was contemplating suicide.

"Miss! Please don't jump! Don't do something you'll regret!"

That person hadn't expected anyone to be there so late.

Startled, she turned to Shen Yan and asked, "Why are you still here so late?"

Shen Yan blinked, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

Was this really the thing to be concerned about right now?

"Miss, whatever is on your mind, we can talk about it down here. Please don't do anything foolish."

Upon hearing this, the other person suddenly broke down.

"I don't want to do something foolish, but I have no choice! I'm truly at the end of my rope! I have no money, what else can I do?!"

"Why does everyone treat me like this?!"

She was too emotional.

Shen Yan could only choose to slowly approach her.

While quietly moving toward her, he said softly, "Miss, please don't think that way. How could you be at the end of your rope?"

"As long as you haven't made some huge mistake, there's always a way out. If you're having trouble, tell me, maybe I can help you."

She suddenly looked up, her face full of anger.

"You talk a good game, but can you take responsibility for my life?"

"The pressure is too much, I really can't go on. Can't you just pretend you didn't see me and walk away? What does my death have to do with you!"

Shen Yan continued to comfort her in a low voice.

"True, we are strangers, and your death has nothing to do with me. But what good does dying do for you?"

"Let's focus on staying alive first, then talk about the rest, okay?"

Having said that, he suddenly lunged forward, grabbed her hand, and pulled her down from the rooftop ledge.

"Ah!"

She screamed, got up from on top of him, and began to wail.

"Why did you save me?! You saved me today, but I'll still die tomorrow!"

Just as Shen Yan was about to offer comfort, he realized her face looked familiar.

"Eh... you... aren't you that Waitress from the cafe?"

Her crying paused.

"Who... who are you?"

"Wait... are you a friend of that Old Witch?"

Shen Yan looked confused.

"What Old Witch?"

She explained how Chen Ling had insulted her by splashing coffee on her.

"Since you've already seen me at my most pathetic, there's no harm in telling you about this too."

"You're actually a pretty good person for coming up to help me, but it's a pity your friend is a bad person..."

Shen Yan frowned and replied, "She's not my friend; she's my Ex-wife."

"And honestly, there's no need to seek death over something like that..."

The Waitress gave a bitter laugh.

"It's not just because of that. It's because of things at home... never mind, what's the use in telling you all this?"

"I'm leaving."

After saying that, she stood up and walked toward the stairs like she had lost her soul.

Seeing this, Shen Yan called out to her.

"I don't know what happened to you, but having these thoughts is simply because you have no outlet for your emotions."

"How about this, I have a way for you to vent."

The cafe Waitress turned around and asked, "What way?"

Half an hour later.

The cafe Waitress was taken into a KTV.

"This is the 'way to vent' you were talking about?"

Shen Yan nodded.

"Just sing out the emotions you want to vent through songs. Regardless, life must go on. If you feel tired, you can take a break."

"I've already paid the bill for you. You can sing here for twenty-four hours or just rest here. In short, death isn't the best way to find relief. I hope you'll take my words to heart."

With those words, he turned and left.

Just as he stepped out, he saw the person he least wanted to see right now—Chen Ling.

She was cuddling with a greasy-faced man with a belly as big as a pregnant woman's, flirting as if they had an unusual relationship.

He saw Chen Ling, and Chen Ling saw him.

Perhaps out of embarrassment, Chen Ling let go of the man's arm as soon as she saw him.

"Heh!"

Perhaps that laugh was too jarring.

Chen Ling lost her cool.

She marched over in her high heels, "clack clack clack," and shouted at Shen Yan in an accusatory tone, "What's so funny? Didn't you come here to have fun too?"

Shen Yan glanced at her and said nonchalantly, "I never said I was laughing at you. Is there any need to be so worked up?"

Chen Ling bit her lip, her face flushing red.

"If it weren't for the fact that the company's accounts were so low on funds and they were about to run out of cash flow, why would I ever come to accompany a client?!"

It was all Wang Tian's fault for constantly putting pressure on her!

She blamed the heavens and the earth, but she never blamed herself.

"I am not worked up!"

"You're the one overthinking things! Heh! For your company to be running so smoothly, you must be clinging to some rich woman's coattails, right?"

"Let me guess, that rich woman is in the room behind you right now, isn't she?"

Shen Yan's expression darkened.

"Don't project your own actions onto me."

Chen Ling, having been poked in her sore spot, immediately blew her top.

"You're talking nonsense! When have I ever done such a thing?!"
