458: Chapter 453 Trust is the most important thing

Wang Haidong's heart felt as if it were being squeezed hard by an invisible hand.

Eighty percent.

To him, this number was almost equivalent to an oracle.

He had sought out so many people and spent so much money, only to receive responses like "it's very difficult," "we'll try," or "it's hard to say."

This was the first time he had heard such a definitive probability from someone else.

The hesitation and struggle in his eyes vanished instantly.

In its place was a bright light.

"Fine!"

Wang Haidong slammed his hand on the table.

"I agree!"

"Mr. Shen, I agree to cooperate with you!"

As if afraid Shen Yan would change his mind, he immediately pulled out his phone.

"I'll call my legal assistant over right now, and we'll draft the contract on the spot!"

"No need."

Shen Yan waved his hand and stood up.

Wang Haidong's movements froze.

"President Wang, regarding the house purchase contract, my assistant will arrive shortly."

"As for the cooperation contract, we can finalize that online."

Shen Yan took a black business card from his inner suit pocket and handed it over.

The design of the card was simple, with only a name and a string of phone numbers.

Shen Yan.

"I need to rush back to the company to handle some matters."

"Have your assistant contact me regarding the details."

Wang Haidong subconsciously took the business card.

That thin card felt as heavy as a thousand pounds in his hand.

He opened his mouth, wanting to say something more.

But Shen Yan had already turned and was walking toward the parking lot.

Chen Guangke had appeared there at some point and opened the door of the black mercedes-benz for him.

Wang Haidong stood blankly on the spot, watching the car speed away, clutching the business card tightly in his hand.

He felt as if everything that happened today was a dream.

Inside the car.

The cold air from the air conditioner blew silently.

While driving, Chen Guangke observed Shen Yan through the rearview mirror.

"Yan Zi, are we really going to help him?"

"That batch of goods makes my head hurt just hearing about it; it's thousands of miles away and on someone else's turf."

"Mhm."

Shen Yan leaned back in the rear seat with his eyes closed, seemingly resting.

"This is an opportunity."

Hearing this, Chen Guangke didn't ask further.

Shen Yan wasn't actually resting.

He took out another phone and turned it on.

Once the screen lit up, he dialed an encrypted number.

The phone rang once and was answered.

"President Shen."

A cool woman's voice came from the other end of the line.

It was Su Wan.

"How is the progress?" Shen Yan asked.

"Everything is going smoothly."

Su Wan's voice carried a confidence that showed she was in full control.

"Zhao Dehai's son, Zhao Kai, lost another three million at the 'Caesar' underground casino last night."

"Including principal and interest, he now owes 'Brother Long' twelve million."

"Brother Long has already sent word that if the money isn't paid within three days, he'll take one of his legs."

The corner of Shen Yan's mouth curled into an imperceptible arc.

"Very good."

"'Brother Long' is one of our people; handle the intensity well, don't actually scare him away."

"Understood."

Su Wan responded.

"Additionally, the evidence against Market Director Sun Qing has been secured."

"The details of his long-term suite rental with his little mistress in Room 188 of the 'Vienna Hotel,' along with high-definition videos and check-in records, have all been packaged."

"They can be sent to his wife and the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Qinghe Group at any time."

Shen Yan's finger tapped lightly on the phone case.

"No rush."

"The plan must be carried out step by step."

"Arrange for someone trustworthy to find Zhao Kai now."

"Tell him that we can help him pay off all his gambling debts, but we need his father, Zhao Dehai, to provide something in exchange."

Su Wan immediately understood Shen Yan's intention.

"You want Zhao Dehai to collect dirt on Zhou Li's faction?"

"Correct."

"Having been the Finance Department Director for so many years, Zhao Dehai's hands can't possibly be clean."

"He knows too many of Zhou Li's dirty secrets."

"Previously, they were a community of interests, so Zhao Dehai didn't dare move."

"Now, for the sake of his precious son, he will be willing to be the knife that stabs Zhou Li."

Shen Yan's voice was very cold.

It was as if he were discussing a business matter that had nothing to do with him.

Su Wan was silent on the other end for a moment.

"President Shen, this move of yours is quite ruthless."

"There's no need for mercy when dealing with them."

Shen Yan said indifferently.

"Regarding Sun Qing, we can take action tomorrow."

"Send an anonymous copy of the videos and photos to his wife, and another to the group's Discipline Inspection Commission."

"I want the waters of the Qinghe Group to be stirred up first."

"Alright, I'll get on it immediately."

"Three days."

Shen Yan's tone brooked no argument.

"In three days, I want to see the results I desire at the Qinghe Group's Board of Directors meeting."

"No problem."

The call ended.

Shen Yan turned off the phone and tossed it aside.

Outside the car window, the bustling street scenes of T City receded rapidly.

The light and shadow of the neon signs flickered across his well-defined face.

The black mercedes-benz drove smoothly along T City's Riverside Avenue, finally coming to a slow stop beneath a highly modern skyscraper apartment building.

Binjiang No. 1.

The gilded characters reflected the piercing afternoon sunlight.

Shen Yan and Chen Guangke got out of the car one after the other.

Chen Guangke looked up at the building that soared into the clouds and smacked his lips.

"A landmark of T City, and in this location—Wang Haidong really went all out."

Shen Yan didn't speak; he just took his phone out of his pocket and confirmed the electronic access code Wang Haidong had sent.

"Yan Zi, should I go up with you to take a look?"

Chen Guangke took a step forward, naturally preparing to accompany him.

"After all, it's a house worth tens of millions; we have to inspect the goods."

"No need."

Shen Yan's pace didn't falter as he walked straight toward the brightly lit lobby.

"You go back to the hotel first."

Chen Guangke was stunned and stopped in his tracks.

"Huh? I'll just wait for you downstairs?"

Shen Yan turned around and looked at him.

His gaze was calm, devoid of any unnecessary emotion.

"No need to wait for me."

"The contract is already signed; transferring the property deed is just a matter of time."

"I'm just going up to confirm the keys and access; it'll be quick."

Chen Guangke's brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.

He felt that Shen Yan's behavior today was a bit strange.

From the golf course, where he used an almost precognitive method to accurately crush Wang Haidong's psychological defenses.

To now, wanting to send away his closest brother.

"Go find a place to relax."

Shen Yan's voice came, interrupting his thoughts.

"You've been tired these past few days; go get a massage or find a teahouse to sit in."

"I'll contact you when I'm done."

These words were reasonable and full of consideration for his brother.

But the small cloud of doubt in Chen Guangke's heart did not dissipate.

Coincidence.

When too many coincidences meet, it becomes difficult to explain them as mere coincidence.

Every one of Shen Yan's decisions was as precise as an emotionless computer.

He knew Shen Yan was hiding something from him.

But he chose not to ask.

Because he was a brother and a subordinate.

Trust was the most important thing between them.
