180: Chapter 18 Trapped in a Dire Situation
Watching the retreating figures of the police, the three shareholders were pale, their whole bodies trembling.
They recalled signing a project agreement with Wang Tian just a few days ago.
That morning, Wang Tian had told them about a very valuable project that required the signatures and investment of all company shareholders.
Because his description was overly positive, coupled with his assurance that he was the guarantor and would be the only one in trouble if anything went wrong, they let down their guard and immediately signed their names.
Thinking about it now, that project agreement was very likely to cause huge problems.
Shen Yan, standing nearby, paid no attention to the three shareholders who were still lost in thought.
He strode forward and walked directly out of the police station.
As soon as he stepped out, he saw Chen Guangke waiting for him at the entrance.
Seeing him emerge, Chen Guangke immediately opened the passenger door for him.
"Bang!"
The car door shut, and they drove off.
Shen Yan asked Chen Guangke, "Has the money been transferred to Wang Tian?"
Chen Guangke nodded and replied to Shen Yan, "The moment the acquisition procedures were completed, I instructed the company to transfer it to him. But didn't you already know he was going to run away? Why did you still send him the money?"
Chen Guangke felt that even though it was only five hundred thousand, since Wang Tian was planning to flee, they actually didn't even need to send the fifty thousand.
Shen Yan understood Chen Guangke's thinking and said to him earnestly, "This matter is not as simple as you think. Wang Tian is now involved in occupational fraud. If we hadn't transferred the money, this acquisition contract would very likely be voided."
Hearing this, Chen Guangke suddenly realized.
"I understand. You mean that if we hadn't transferred the money, we and Wang Tian might be considered to have colluded?"
Shen Yan nodded.
"That's exactly what I mean."
Chen Guangke said with great admiration, "You really think things through more thoroughly. If it were me, I probably wouldn't have sent that five hundred thousand."
Shen Yan raised his hand, patted Chen Guangke on the shoulder, and laughed heartily, "So you still have a lot to learn. But you are genuinely improving, and I believe if things continue like this, becoming the CEO will be just around the corner for you."
As his words fell, Chen Guangke rolled his eyes.
"Stop saying such unlucky things. With you above me keeping me in check, how could I ever become CEO?"
After listening, Shen Yan smiled without speaking.
Since Fuchen Enterprise was a listed company after all,
The news that Wang Tian had fled and Fuchen Enterprise was acquired quickly spread throughout the business world.
Chen Ling also learned this news as a matter of course.
"Do you really think this is Wang Tian's fault?"
The secretary standing nearby was surprised by Chen Ling's sudden question. He paused for a moment before replying, "He ran away, so it must be his fault, right?"
Hearing the reply, Chen Ling let out a disdainful laugh.
"You are still too naive. Shen Yan must have played a role in this."
The secretary didn't understand why Chen Ling would say that.
In his eyes, this incident was clearly Wang Tian deceiving both sides and profiting from both.
"But... Wang Tian and Shen Yan already had a falling out before. How could they possibly still be colluding?"
"Moreover, Wang Tian shouldn't be that stupid. If he did this, the only one who would suffer would be him."
This was also the part Chen Ling couldn't figure out.
It must be known that Wang Tian was not the type of person to sacrifice himself to fulfill others.
However, even if she couldn't figure it out, she still firmly believed that this matter must have been Shen Yan's doing.
...
A few days later, at the police station.
"According to our investigation, we have determined that this matter was done solely by Wang Tian, and Shen Yan has no involvement."
As soon as these words were spoken, the three shareholders immediately exploded.
"What do you mean it was done only by Wang Tian? If Wang Tian did this, the only beneficiary is Shen Yan! Tell me how this has nothing to do with him?!"
The police officer said solemnly,
"You are all people who run companies. You should know that the law deals with evidence, not personal opinions."
"If you believe our findings are not true, then please present the relevant evidence."
"To be frank, if Wang Tian hadn't run away, we couldn't even have presumed occupational fraud, because there was no evidence."
The crime Wang Tian originally faced should have been illegal appropriation of property, but because he had already returned all the property transferred from the company, he no longer had this charge.
Now he was charged with occupational fraud, but the premise for this charge was evidence proving that Wang Tian used his position to defraud others or seek personal gain.
If neither of these pieces of evidence existed, then even if the police found Wang Tian, they couldn't do anything to him.
The three shareholders were furious, grinding their teeth, wishing they could find Wang Tian immediately and swallow him whole.
Fortunately, they were not completely blinded by anger and still knew to discuss occupational fraud and illegal operations with the police.
"Then, since Wang Tian is involved in occupational fraud, can we use the matter of Wang Tian's illegal operations as a breakthrough point to void the previous acquisition contract?"
The police officer nodded.
"Theoretically speaking, the plan you mentioned does have feasibility."
Before the three shareholders could be happy that the words had fallen,
In the next second,
They heard the police officer say to them again, "But this matter is outside the scope of our handling. If you want to use this as a breakthrough point, you must file a lawsuit and litigate against him."
After hearing this, the three shareholders felt the sky had fallen.
They had been involved in lawsuits before.
They knew that filing a lawsuit required consuming a considerable amount of time.
Before filing a lawsuit, they had to prepare the statement of claim and gather the relevant evidence.
Only after the court agreed to the filing could they litigate against Shen Yan.
And most lawsuits took anywhere from half a year to a full year.
This meant that if they really proceeded to the step of filing and litigating, they might very well be detached from the company for one to one and a half years.
But not long ago, they had just raised the funds to buy Chen Ling's shares; they simply did not have the large amounts of manpower and financial resources to litigate against Shen Yan.
The more they thought about it, the more desperate they felt.
Just as they felt they were being forced into a desperate situation, the phone of CEO Chen rang.
The caller was Chen Ling.
He swiped to answer, and Chen Ling's voice came through the phone.
"CEO Chen, long time no see. Where are you right now?"
CEO Chen pursed his lips and replied, "I'm at the police station right now. Is something the matter?"
Chen Ling chuckled lightly and replied, "Of course, something is the matter. We were partners for so many years after all. Now that you are in trouble, I must be the first to come and help you."
