259: Chapter 259 Opening Your Heart

The farce came to an end.

Shen Yan returned home, exhausted.

"You're back. How are you? Are you okay?"

Shen Ya was sitting on the sofa with Youyou beside her.

She had rushed home after receiving Shen Yan's call.

God knows how she felt when she heard a robber had broken into their home.

Their parents were already gone because of a car accident.

She didn't want anything to happen to her brother as well.

If she hadn't needed to stay home with Youyou, she would have already rushed to the police station to see Shen Yan.

Hearing Shen Ya's question, Shen Yan shook his head and walked over to sit on the sofa.

"I'm fine. How did your chat with Wu Ya go today?"

Shen Ya pursed her lips.

"You should tell me first why a robber suddenly broke into our home and who that person actually was."

Shen Yan didn't really want to tell Shen Ya too much.

Because he felt this wasn't something Shen Ya should be worrying about.

Only he, Shen Ya, and Youyou were left in the family now.

He didn't want Shen Ya to overthink things for his sake.

"It has nothing to do with you. Anyway, the matter has been resolved. First, tell me how your chat with Xiao Wu went today. Do you feel any better?"

As he finished speaking...

Shen Ya's eyes suddenly turned red.

She let go of Youyou, who had fallen asleep against her, and pointed at Shen Yan's nose, saying, "Why do you still not understand what I'm thinking?"

"I'm your sister, not some fragile person. After such a huge change in our family, not only have I been unable to help you, but I'm also always holding you back."

"You don't tell me anything, leaving me to let my imagination run wild like a headless fly. This really makes me feel terrible, like I'm just a burden!"

As she spoke, Shen Ya burst into tears.

Seeing his sister crying uncontrollably in front of him, Shen Yan was stunned.

Ever since Shen Ya became an adult, he had never seen her wailing like this in front of him.

Seeing Shen Ya suddenly crying so unreservedly now, for some reason, he felt a strange sensation in his heart.

He couldn't say if the feeling was good or bad.

If he had to describe it, he would say it made his heart feel a bit heavy and sour.

Thinking this, he took a deep breath, stepped forward, and wiped away Shen Ya's tears with his hand.

"Why are you crying? I'm perfectly fine now, aren't I?"

Shen Ya swiped her hand, slapping the back of his hand.

"Is this about being okay or not? I want you to tell me exactly what happened! When you don't say anything like this, it really makes me worry about you!"

"And what about your car? Why have you been taking taxis to the company for the past two days?"

At this point, Shen Ya couldn't help herself again.

"You're always like this. You demand that I tell you everything, yet you don't tell me anything yourself. Shen Yan, you can't have such double standards!"

Shen Yan wanted to argue, but he didn't know where to start.

Because he realized that he did indeed have some double standards.

He required Shen Ya to report everything to him, yet he told her nothing.

Of course, he didn't have any bad intentions.

He just didn't want Shen Ya to worry about him.

But... was this really right?

Shen Yan used to think it was right, but seeing Shen Ya crying so miserably before him, he suddenly began to doubt if his approach was correct.

"The reason I've been taking taxis these past two days is that my car was in a bit of an accident and is being repaired."

While wiping her tears, Shen Ya asked Shen Yan, "What kind of accident? Was it serious?"

Shen Yan hesitated for a moment before replying, "It wasn't a very serious accident. I just got rear-ended."

Shen Ya's eyes widened, and tears began to roll again.

"A rear-end collision isn't a serious accident? If I hadn't asked, were you planning on never telling me?!"

Shen Yan sighed.

"It really wasn't that serious. If it were, I wouldn't have been able to hide it from you. Since I wasn't injured and you have your own things to do, I didn't want to worry you, so I didn't say anything."

Shen Ya wasn't listening at all.

She felt that Shen Yan not telling her anything meant he didn't treat her as one of his own at all.

"Waaah, I don't want to talk to you anymore. Tomorrow I'm going to our parents' graves to tell them how you're bullying me, how you don't tell me anything, and how you don't treat me like your sister at all!"

Seeing that Shen Ya was starting to talk nonsense through her tears, Shen Yan quickly stepped forward to hug her and patted her back, saying:

"Alright, alright, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have kept everything from you. How about I tell you what happened today?"

Hearing this, Shen Ya immediately opened her tear-filled eyes and nodded. "Okay, then tell me exactly what happened."

As the words fell...

Shen Yan told Shen Ya about the company matters and then about Wang Tian.

"So he was in the house to threaten you for money?"

Shen Yan nodded.

"Exactly. But he was alone and only had a small knife. As soon as I saw him, I knew he was no match for me."

At this point, he sighed in relief and said, "Fortunately, he didn't do anything to Youyou before I got back, otherwise I definitely wouldn't have let him off so easily."

Shen Ya's thoughts were the opposite of Shen Yan's.

She felt that both Shen Yan and Youyou were in extreme danger in that situation.

After all, Wang Tian had a knife, while Shen Yan had nothing.

"No, this is too dangerous. We have to move!"

As she spoke, Shen Ya hurriedly got up to grab her phone.

Seeing her still looking panicked, Shen Yan pulled her back and said, "He's already at the police station. If all goes as expected, he'll definitely get at least a year in prison."

Shen Ya still didn't relax, her fingers constantly swiping across the phone screen.

"The fact that he could break into our home so easily means our neighborhood's security is terrible. We have to move."

Shen Yan blinked, thinking Shen Ya was right.

That Wang Tian could break into their home so easily proved the neighborhood's security was indeed insufficient.

"Alright, I understand. Stop looking for now. I'll have someone help us find a place with better security later."

Only then did Shen Ya put down her phone.

"Then you must hurry. Have them find a secure house as soon as possible, otherwise I really can't feel at ease leaving Youyou home alone."

Shen Yan hummed in agreement, then asked Shen Ya, "How did your chat with Xiao Wu go today?"

Shen Ya hadn't expected Shen Yan to still be thinking about that.

"We... we had a good talk."
