475: Chapter 47 No need to worry about money
He let out a long, slow breath.
Two full minutes of silence stretched out, feeling as long as a century.
"Good."
Feng Yuanshan's voice was somewhat hoarse, but every single word was perfectly clear.
"I accept."
Wang Haidong visibly relaxed, his back instantly drenched in a cold sweat.
Shen Yan's face remained expressionless.
He simply picked up his teacup and made a gesture of respect toward Feng Yuanshan.
"General Manager Feng is a smart man."
The atmosphere for the rest of the meal became much more harmonious.
It was as if the tense standoff from moments before had never happened.
Wang Haidong continuously toasted Shen Yan, his words filled with gratitude and admiration.
Feng Yuanshan also resumed his demeanor as a cultured gentleman, chatting about the local customs, anecdotes, and oddities of T City.
Shen Yan spoke little.
Most of the time, he just listened quietly, occasionally interjecting with one or two sentences.
But every sentence was perfectly timed and appropriate.
The meal concluded with everyone satisfied.
The next morning, at dawn.
Morning light filtered through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, casting long shadows across the empty hall and onto the floor.
Feng Yuanshan, along with his chief design team, was already waiting there early.
He hadn't slept all night.
His mind was filled with calculations and projections of various design schemes and construction progress.
The more decisively he had agreed yesterday, the greater the pressure he felt today.
Creak—
The heavy front door of the villa was pushed open.
Shen Yan walked in.
He had changed out of his suit and was wearing simple casual clothes, making him appear less sharp and more relaxed, as if at home.
"Mr. Shen."
Feng Yuanshan quickly went to greet him.
"We worked through the night and produced three drafts of the design sketches for your review."
As he spoke, he signaled his assistant to spread several huge blueprints out on the open space in the center of the living room.
Three blueprints, three distinctly different styles of New Chinese design.
One was Zen-like and ethereal, another was opulent and luxurious, and the third was simple and elegant.
Each version was a textbook-level design.
Feng Yuanshan had absolute confidence in his team's professional capabilities.
Shen Yan merely glanced at them casually.
"Scrap them all,"
he stated.
Feng Yuanshan and the team behind him were stunned.
"Mr. Shen... These..."
A young designer couldn't help but speak up, "These three proposals are already the best designs we could conceive that fit this building's structure and your status."
Shen Yan ignored him.
He walked up to the blueprints and squatted down.
His finger pointed at the core load-bearing area of the structure.
"This wall here, it doesn't have to stay."
His words made the entire design team gasp in shock.
That was a main load-bearing wall!
If moved, the structure of the entire building would be compromised.
"We can replace it with H-shaped steel beams for support, which will completely open up the space on the first and second floors."
Shen Yan's voice was unhurried.
"What I want is not a home segmented by walls, but a flowing, open space where sunlight and air can travel freely."
He stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.
"The smart home system you used is outdated."
"I will have my team custom-build a 'Tianshu' AI central control system specifically for this house."
"It will learn the owner's living habits, automatically adjusting light, temperature, and humidity, while managing security and energy."
"All you need to do is reserve the corresponding line ports."
Feng Yuanshan was already starting to feel bewildered.
He felt he was facing not a client, but a top-tier designer who understood architecture and the future even better than he did.
"And the landscaping,"
Shen Yan's gaze drifted toward the courtyard outside the window.
"The stacked stones and flowing water you designed are too contrived."
"What I want is the artistic conception of 'though made by man, appearing as if created by nature.'"
"Knock down that wall in the backyard and introduce the mountain view to create an infinity edge water feature courtyard."
"Wind, light, shadow, and sound must all become part of the design."
Every sentence Shen Yan spoke landed like a heavy hammer blow on the hearts of Feng Yuanshan and his team.
The professionalism they prided themselves on seemed utterly immature in front of Shen Yan.
This man's understanding of space, his application of technology, and his perception of aesthetics completely surpassed their imagination.
Half a day of discussion followed.
Though called a discussion, it was essentially a one-sided lecture delivered by Shen Yan.
When the final design plan was sketched onto the blueprints,
Feng Yuanshan looked at the nearly perfect drawing, and only two words remained in his heart:
Subdued.
He looked at Shen Yan, and in his eyes, there was no longer the scrutiny and resentment from yesterday, only genuine admiration.
"Mr. Shen, I understand."
"In two months, I guarantee I will deliver a miracle for you."
Having settled matters in T City,
Shen Yan did not pause for a moment and flew directly back to the company.
Inside the Chairman's office,
He looked at the coordinates provided by the system on his computer screen—a port city on the West Coast of Country M: Saint Ludo.
The reward for the 'Lost Trade Route' mission was intelligence regarding the plight of the young master of the Hosen Family.
This Hosen Family was an old shipping giant in Country M, controlling several golden shipping lanes.
The intelligence indicated that this young master, due to internal family strife, had been framed and was now hiding precariously in a slum in Saint Ludo.
This was his next opportunity.
Shen Yan picked up his phone and booked a first-class ticket to Saint Ludo for that evening.
Just as he hung up the phone, the office door was knocked upon.
"Come in."
Chen Guangke pushed the door open, holding two cups of coffee.
"Yan Zi, you've been spinning like a top these past few days. Did you wrap things up in T City?"
He placed one cup of coffee on Shen Yan's desk and sat down casually on the sofa.
"Mhm, wrapped it up."
Shen Yan picked up his coffee and took a sip.
"Then what are you..."
Chen Guangke glanced at the flight reservation information on his computer screen and paused.
"Traveling again? To Country M?"
"All by yourself?"
A string of questions revealed his concern.
Shen Yan smiled and closed the page.
"Yeah, going out to handle some things."
"What kind of business? So urgent that you can't even tell me?"
Chen Guangke frowned. "It's not like back home; you won't know anyone there. I worry about you going alone."
Shen Yan leaned back in his chair and looked at him half-jokingly.
"Earning money to pay your salaries, of course."
He paused, his tone becoming lighter.
"You know how much money our AI project burns through."
"As the boss, if I don't go out and find more resources, I won't be able to support all those geniuses in the R&D department."
"You can ask the Finance Department how terrifying the numbers were for last month's R&D investment report."
Chen Guangke was silenced by this statement.
Of course, he knew how expensive R&D was.
Top-tier equipment, highly paid scientists—every failed experiment burned through real money.
Yet, Shen Yan, as the boss, had never once frowned over R&D investment.
He only ever said one thing: I only care about the results; the money, I will solve.
