Hearing Shen Yan's question, Chen Guangke handed him his phone to look at.

"My former colleague told me that Chen Ling sold the company's shares!"

Shen Yan raised an eyebrow, took the phone, and asked, "Is that true or false?"

Chen Guangke nodded.

"This colleague is a good buddy from the Finance Department I worked with before. If he told me this, it's 100% real!"

"Why would Chen Ling suddenly sell the shares she holds? Is it because of the online public opinion incident?"

Shen Yan shook his head.

If it wasn't because of that incident, then why would Chen Ling sell the shares she holds?

Chen Guangke couldn't figure it out.

"Since it's not because of that, why is she selling her shares?"

"You have to know, these are shares in a listed company—they're worth a lot!"

Shen Yan scoffed.

"Shares in a listed company are worth a lot, but shares in a listed company that's about to go bankrupt aren't worth much."

Chen Guangke was stunned.

"A listed company about to go bankrupt?"

"Is their company going bankrupt?!"

Shen Yan replied, "If they continue operating like this, bankruptcy is only a matter of time."

"Do you remember what happened a while ago?"

Chen Guangke certainly remembered.

"Are you talking about the incident where Chen Ling bribed someone from our company to steal our company's software idea?"

Shen Yan nodded.

"Exactly. Although what they did was unethical, we need to look at the essence behind the phenomenon."

"Think about it, why would they want to bribe someone from our company for a project? Isn't it because their own company can't produce any good projects anymore?"

"If I haven't guessed wrong, the only projects their company can currently profit from should be those few projects I developed when I was at the company."

Chen Guangke suddenly understood.

"So Chen Ling wants to cut her losses in time?"

"Correct." Shen Yan nodded, "She's quite smart, knowing that as long as the green hills remain, there's no need to worry about firewood."

Chen Guangke sighed.

"I was actually quite happy, but hearing you say that, I instantly became unhappy again."

Shen Yan chuckled, "What's there to be unhappy about? She doesn't want the company; I do."

"Although I've recently established a new company, that company was originally mine. If things proceed smoothly later on, I plan to swallow that company and merge the two."

Chen Guangke applauded on the spot.

He knew he hadn't misjudged the person.

The Agent asked from behind them, "Gentlemen, have you finished your discussion? Are you satisfied with this house? If not, I can take you to the next one right now."

Shen Yan turned back, "No need, we'll take this house."

The Agent was surprised by Shen Yan's straightforwardness and replied enthusiastically, "Alright then, I'll go get the contract now. Our deposit is fifty thousand, can you accept that?"

Shen Yan nodded and said, "Yes, but you need to discuss it with the landlord first and see if he can accept selling the house for 1.2 million."

Although Shen Yan had enough money to buy the house outright, he still wanted to haggle with the landlord.

The Agent hesitated for a moment before replying to Shen Yan, "Okay, I'll go talk to the landlord, but you're cutting 300,000 off right away; I doubt the landlord will agree."

"The asking price was 1.5 million. I've already cut 300,000 off. If I cut any more, the owner might get dissatisfied."

"That asking price of 1.5 million was already inflated; cutting a bit more wouldn't hurt..."

Soon, the Agent finished his call and returned.

"I spoke with the landlord. He said the lowest price he can accept is 1.35 million. See if you want it..."

Before he could finish speaking, Shen Yan immediately agreed.

"Fine, 1.35 million it is. Bring the contract over; we'll sign it now."

The Agent was thrilled.

"Mr. Shen is truly straightforward! I'll go get it right now!"

After buying the house, Shen Yan and Chen Guangke returned the way they came.

In the car, Chen Guangke asked Shen Yan, "Tell me the truth, did you want to buy the house because of your sister?"

"No, I bought it for investment purposes."

Shen Yan chuckled lightly. While turning the steering wheel, he replied to Chen Guangke, "That's where you lack understanding. Before buying, I already checked online. If nothing unexpected happens, this area will soon have a subway developed."

"Once the subway opens, housing prices there will rise sharply."

Chen Guangke didn't believe him at all.

He had lived here for so long.

He had never heard that the East District was scheduled for subway development.

"Every year people say some place will get a subway, and every year nothing happens. I think you were just tricked by false news online!"

"If I had known you planned to invest, I would have stopped you from buying the house!"

Seeing Chen Guangke looking regretful, Shen Yan sighed.

"If you don't believe me, then don't. Anyway, I've already bought it."

When they returned home, Wu Ya was still playing with Youyou.

"Did you finish your business so quickly?"

Wu Ya got up from the floor.

"Looking at houses isn't something you can finish quickly. Are you planning to look again tomorrow, or..."
