444: Chapter 444 Apologizing in Person

This was an issue that Su Wan was currently contemplating as well.

Should she go, or not?

If she went, what if Shen Yan was still angry and took out his frustration on her and her son? Wouldn't that just be asking for trouble?

A man like him could change his mind faster than turning a page in a book.

Her plan to take down Zhou Li and the others still depended on him.

But if she didn't go...

She looked down at her son's eyes, which were full of guilt and expectation.

This incident would become a knot in his heart.

Moreover, looking at it from another angle, taking the initiative to visit and showing sufficient sincerity and responsibility might earn Shen Yan's higher regard.

That wouldn't just be a mother's apology; it would also be the attitude of a future partner.

The pros and cons rapidly weighed on Su Wan's mind.

A few seconds later, she made her decision.

"Okay, we'll go."

She stood up and took Lin Nuo's hand.

"We're going to visit Youyou, and we'll formally apologize to her and her father."

Lin Nuo's eyes lit up.

Su Wan took out her phone, her fingertip swiping across the screen until she found a number.

The contact was labeled "Wu Ya."

Shen Yan's assistant.

The call connected very quickly.

"Hello, CEO Su.", Wu Ya's voice was professional and capable.

"Hello, Assistant Wu.", Su Wan's tone was very polite, "I apologize for the intrusion, but I wanted to inquire about something."

"CEO Su, please go ahead."

"It's like this: I heard about what happened at the kindergarten today. My son, Lin Nuo, was ill-behaved and caused trouble for CEO Shen's precious daughter. I feel terrible about it."

"I'd like to bring him over to apologize in person to Mr. Shen and Youyou. I wonder... if it would be convenient to share CEO Shen's home address?"

Wu Ya on the other end seemed a bit surprised and was silent for two seconds.

Su Wan could guess what she was thinking.

The boss's home address wasn't something that could be casually given out.

She added a sentence.

"If it's inconvenient for CEO Shen, that's fine too. I just feel as a mother that this is what I should do."

She kept her posture very low.

Wu Ya softly said on the other end,

"CEO Su, please wait a moment, I need to confirm."

"Alright, thank you for your trouble."

Su Wan hung up the phone and waited patiently.

In less than three minutes, her phone vibrated. Wu Ya had sent a text message.

It contained an address.

It was followed by a line: CEO Shen just brought Youyou home, so he should be there.

Su Wan looked at the string of the address, and a weight lifted from her heart.

The fact that Wu Ya dared to give it meant that Shen Yan hadn't explicitly refused, at least.

"Let's go, Nuonuo."

She took her son's hand, and before getting into the car, she detoured to the trunk.

She took out an exquisitely wrapped toy gift box.

It was a LEGO castle set she had originally planned to give Lin Nuo for his birthday.

Now, it had a more suitable purpose.

The Bentley smoothly drove into the night.

Inside the car, Lin Nuo nervously gripped his seatbelt, practicing his apology over and over.

"I'm sorry, Youyou, I shouldn't have given you the cake."

"Uncle Shen, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

Su Wan looked at him, feeling an indescribable emotion.

This was the difference between the business world and the fairy tale world.

In business, good intentions could sometimes cause harm, or even lead to fatal disaster.

But she didn't want her son to lose the courage to be kind because of this.

The car finally stopped at the entrance of a high-end residential complex.

Security was extremely strict.

Su Wan reported the building number and Shen Yan's name, and after a phone confirmation, the barrier slowly lifted.

She led Lin Nuo, following the address in the text message, to find the building.

Standing at Shen Yan's door, Su Wan took a deep breath.

She straightened her collar, then squatted down to help Lin Nuo smooth out his slightly wrinkled small shirt.

"Nuonuo, remember, summon your courage as a little man and apologize sincerely, okay?"

Lin Nuo hugged the LEGO castle in his arms and nodded vigorously.

Su Wan stood up and pressed the doorbell.

The doorbell rang in the quiet apartment, sounding somewhat abrupt.

Shen Yan put down the water cup in his hand, his brow furrowing almost imperceptibly.

Who could it be at this hour?

He walked to the entryway and glanced through the peephole.

Outside the door stood Su Wan, and... a little boy hiding behind her.

Shen Yan opened the door.

"CEO Shen."

Su Wan's voice carried a hint of politeness and nervousness.

Shen Yan's gaze swept past her to the little figure peeking out.

It was Lin Nuo.

The boy still had tear stains drying on his face. He tightly clutched a huge LEGO gift box, his eyes timid, daring not to meet Shen Yan's gaze.

Shen Yan understood immediately.

He said nothing, merely stepped aside to clear the doorway.

"Come in."

His voice was flat, betraying no emotion.

Su Wan breathed a sigh of relief and led Lin Nuo inside.

The light in the entryway was dim, making the lighting in the living room seem even warmer.

As soon as he entered, Lin Nuo's small body tensed up, like a startled little animal.

Mustering all the courage he had, he let go of his mother's hand and walked up to Shen Yan.

Then, he extended his small hand and gently tugged on Shen Yan's trouser leg.

"Uncle... I'm sorry."

His voice was very small, still carrying a slight sob.

Shen Yan looked down at him.

The child's eyes were clear yet fearful.

He did not bend down, merely asked a question.

"Do you know what you did wrong?"

Lin Nuo nodded hard.

"I shouldn't... I shouldn't have given Youyou cake when I didn't know what it was."

"Mmm.", Shen Yan responded.

Lin Nuo looked up, his eyes full of expectation.

"Where is Youyou? How... how is she now?"

Shen Yan's expression softened slightly.

"Follow me."

He turned and led Lin Nuo toward Youyou's room.

Su Wan did not follow. She knew this was something the children needed to resolve themselves.

Youyou's room was decorated in pink tones, with cartoon princess stickers on the walls.

The little girl was lying on the bed, listlessly flipping through an album, her mood still seemingly a bit down.

She heard the door open and turned her head.

Seeing Shen Yan, her eyes lit up.

"Daddy."

Immediately after, she saw Lin Nuo following behind her father.

Youyou's small mouth puckered slightly.

Lin Nuo stood at the doorway, no longer daring to step forward.

He raised the LEGO castle in his arms to his chest.

"Youyou... I'm sorry."

"This... this is for you."

Youyou looked at the gift box, which was larger than the upper half of Lin Nuo's body, and didn't speak.

Shen Yan leaned against the doorframe, showing no intention of intervening.

Seeing that she hadn't reacted, Lin Nuo became more anxious.

"My mom says that I made a mistake because I lacked knowledge, not because my heart is bad."

"I will never give you things to eat randomly again in the future."

"Do... do you still want to be friends with me?"

The words were childish, yet carried the most sincere apology.

Youyou glanced at Lin Nuo, then at the LEGO in his hands.

She slid off the bed and walked up to Lin Nuo.

"The itching on my body is gone now."

She stretched out her small arm; no red rash could be seen anymore.

"The doctor said I can't eat mangoes anymore."

Lin Nuo nodded desperately.

"I'll remember!"
