274: Chapter 274 Ideological Work

It was the Gu Corporation again...

Has he been inseparable from the Gu Corporation recently?

Shen Yan massaged his violently throbbing temples, feeling he needed to go back and first ask his good little sister why she wanted to be an event planner.

Thinking this, he turned off his phone, opened his office door, and walked out.

...

At home, Shen Ya was recounting the details of her interview and the people she met to Auntie Fang, while Youyou was sprawled on the sofa, drawing while watching cartoons.

"Thud!"

The front door closed.

The three people in the house simultaneously turned their gaze to Shen Yan, who had just returned.

"You're back!"

"Daddy!"

"Mr. Shen."

The three spoke in unison, each with a smile on their face.

Shen Yan was infected by their mood, and a smile unconsciously appeared on his face as well.

"I'm back."

Saying that, he walked over and picked up Youyou, who rushed towards him.

"How was your day today?"

Youyou swung her little feet and replied to him, "Not great, Daddy, I'm so bored."

Youyou should be old enough for kindergarten now.

Shen Yan had originally intended to send her to kindergarten as soon as possible.

However, because the nearby kindergartens were not particularly good, he had temporarily shelved that plan.

He put Youyou down on the floor, squatted down to be at eye level with her, and asked, "Does Youyou want to go to school?"

Several days prior, he had already asked Youyou this question.

At that time, Youyou was concentrating intently on watching cartoons and didn't answer him, so he didn't press the issue.

Now he asked again.

Youyou acted as if she had encountered a major problem, lowering her head and pursing her lips in deep thought.

He watched her struggle until her little face turned red.

Shen Yan affectionately stroked Youyou's head and said to her, "If Youyou doesn't want to go to school, it's okay. I can first find a tutor to come to the house to give you extra lessons."

As soon as he finished speaking,

Youyou suddenly grabbed Shen Yan's arms with both hands and said to him, "It's not that I don't want to go to school, it's just... it's just that I don't want to be separated from Daddy..."

Shen Yan was full of surprise.

"Youyou is just going to school, how is that being separated from Daddy?"

Youyou raised her fair, tender little face, pouted, and said to Shen Yan, "But going to school means being separated from Daddy, right? Auntie told me that when she went to school, she was separated from her dad."

Hearing this, Shen Ya, who had been silent beside them, finally couldn't hold back.

"What I said about being separated was about when I was in college, how can that be the same as your situation with your dad?"

Youyou didn't understand the distinction; she just thought that if she went to school, she would have to be separated from her dad.

"But isn't that all school? If going to school means separating from Daddy, then I won't go to school, ever!"

After hearing this, Shen Yan felt as if he had eaten a sour and sweet orange, with sweet and sour bubbles rising in his heart.

He raised both hands and placed them on Youyou's cheeks, kneading them as he said, "Don't worry, Youyou. No matter if you go to school or do anything else, Daddy will never be separated from you!"

Youyou's eyes lit up. She clung to the hands Shen Yan was using to fondle her face and asked vaguely, "Really? Even if I go to school, Daddy won't be separated from Youyou?"

Shen Yan smiled and nodded.

"Really. When has Daddy ever lied to Youyou?"

Receiving the definite answer, Youyou cheered, "Then I want to go to school! I want to meet new friends!"

Seeing Youyou so happy, Shen Ya and Auntie Fang also started smiling.

"Alright, stop clinging to your daddy. Go get ready for dinner quickly!"

Youyou nodded heavily, then pulled Shen Yan to the bathroom to wash their hands together.

After dinner, Youyou was taken by Auntie Fang to take a bath. Only Shen Ya and Shen Yan were left in the living room, and Shen Yan then asked Shen Ya about her job.

"You applied to the Gu Corporation?"

Shen Ya nodded.

"Yeah. Didn't you say you didn't care?"

Shen Yan narrowed his eyes and smiled slightly.

"Didn't you send me the message yourself?"

Shen Ya's face flushed. She had been so happy about receiving the offer that she accidentally shared the news with the person closest to her.

Thinking of this, she also felt inexplicably angry.

"Hmph, you always used to ask me where I worked. Now that I've found a job, you don't ask anything at all..."

Before she could finish speaking, Shen Yan said aggrievedly, "Didn't you tell me not to ask? I just didn't ask because I didn't want to argue with you."

"Of course, I've come to terms with it now. As long as you are happy and safe, and nothing major happens, I won't interfere with whatever you do."

Shen Ya fell silent.

She didn't actually not want Shen Yan to manage her; she just didn't want to be a burden to Shen Yan.

But she couldn't say these words, nor did she know how to say them.

Because she knew that even if she said it, Shen Yan would definitely say things like she wouldn't be his burden, but she didn't want to hear that kind of talk.

When she was silent, Shen Yan also didn't speak.

The two of them sat facing each other silently in the living room.

"Creak..."

Suddenly, Auntie Fang came out of the bathroom with Youyou.

Youyou had just finished bathing and smelled wonderfully fragrant. She ran over and threw herself into her father's arms, asking Shen Yan, "Daddy! Will you tell me a story tonight?"

Shen Yan naturally agreed.

"Sure. Then Youyou go wait for Daddy in your room first."

Youyou nodded heavily, then politely said goodbye to Auntie Fang.

After finishing all her necessary tasks, Auntie Fang also left their home.

Seeing that only the two of them were left in the living room again, Shen Yan paused for a moment, then turned to Shen Ya and said, "If you aren't sleepy, wait for me in the living room after I finish putting Youyou to sleep."

Hearing this, Shen Ya knew Shen Yan had something to talk to her about. She nodded, "Okay, I'll wait for you."

Not long after, Shen Yan walked out of Youyou's room. When he came out, Shen Ya was looking up the relevant requirements for the event planning position.

"Still looking at work?"

Hearing the question, Shen Ya put down her phone and looked up to reply to Shen Yan, "Since I haven't done related work before, I need to look it over before I start."

Saying that, she asked Shen Yan, "What did you want to talk to me about? Are you trying to ask me about the Gu Corporation?"

Shen Yan nodded, and then shook his head.

"Why did you want to do event planning?"

Shen Ya shrugged her shoulders and replied, "Actually, it's not that I specifically wanted to do it; I just happened to see the opening, so I submitted a resume."

Shen Yan frowned.

"You didn't major in this. Why didn't you look for something related to your major?"

Whenever this matter came up, Shen Ya felt a headache. She said to Shen Yan, "It was because I didn't understand before. I thought the HR position was just like in the TV shows, where you just sit in an office and manage the organizational structure."
