681: Chapter 676 Beast

That complete disregard was more damaging than any malicious language.

"Brother Wu..."

His subordinate cautiously approached.

"Get lost!"

Wu Heng shoved his subordinate away, his eyes bloodshot, like a cornered beast.

He stared intently at Shen Yan's retreating back.

"Investigate! Investigate him for me!"

"Dig three feet into the ground if you have to, but find out everything about him!"

"I, Wu Heng, will let him know that in Qi City, money isn't everything!"

Inside the contract room.

Shen Yan swiftly signed his name.

Swiping the card, transferring the money—the entire process flowed like running water.

The staff member handling the procedures felt his hands tremble as he looked at the long string of numbers on the POS machine.

"Mr. Shen... Mr. Shen, the procedures are complete."

"Here is your property deed, please keep it safe."

Shen Yan took the documents and placed them in his briefcase.

"Thank you."

He turned and left, as if he had just bought a head of cabbage.

As soon as he walked out of the transaction center's main door, his phone rang.

It was Chen Guangke.

As soon as the call connected, an almost roaring voice came from the other end.

"Yan Zi! Three hundred million? Do you know what you just did?"

"I just received the deduction notice from the Bank, I thought the system had an error!"

"Three hundred million to buy a piece of industrial wasteland, are you trying to burn money just for fun?"

Chen Guangke was genuinely frantic.

That wasn't thirty thousand, nor three million—it was a full three hundred million in cold, hard cash.

It was just thrown into a pit everyone knew about.

Shen Yan settled into the car. The driver smoothly started the vehicle.

He looked out the window at Qi City's hazy gray sky.

But his voice carried a hint of a smile.

"Guang Ke."

"What do you think will be the most valuable thing in the future world?"

Chen Guangke was momentarily stunned by the question.

"What?"

"It's computing power, it's data, it's energy."

Shen Yan's voice was clear and powerful.

"What we bought isn't a piece of wasteland."

"It's an entry ticket to the core of the new energy industry."

"Don't worry, the whole world will soon know how worthwhile our three hundred million spent today truly is."

"Now, notify the Legal Department to prepare for takeover. Also, contact the world's top environmental remediation companies and architectural design institutes."

"I want to build the world's most advanced new energy industry testing base on this ruin in the shortest possible time."

Shen Yan hung up the phone.

Chen Guangke on the other end still sounded shocked.

Shen Yan calmly watched the streetscape rapidly receding outside the window.

"Inform them."

"The project kickoff meeting is in three days."

"I want to see the preliminary remediation plan and design sketches."

"Yes, I'll handle it right away."

Chen Guangke's voice instantly shifted from astonishment to excitement.

He knew that every crazy move Shen Yan made signaled an industry earthquake.

After hanging up, quiet returned to the car.

The driver was transferred by Shen Yan from headquarters; he was taciturn with first-class driving skills.

Shen Yan closed his eyes and began constructing the blueprint for that future base in his mind.

However, some people always disliked things going too smoothly.

Three days later, early morning.

The former site of the Third Branch of the Hongxing Steel Plant in Qi City.

The rusted iron gate was lined with heavy-duty trucks and excavators.

Dozens of construction vehicles, like steel behemoths, completely blocked the entrance.

Without exception, the bodies of the vehicles were spray-painted with four large characters—Hengtong Construction.

Wu Heng, his left hand still bandaged, held a cigar in his right, arrogantly perched on the hood of a bulldozer.

Behind him stood over a hundred men.

These men all had buzz cuts, dragons and tigers tattooed on their arms, fierce eyes, and carried steel pipes and wrenches.

They were noisy, smoking heavily, treating the ground littered with cigarette butts and betel nut scraps as their territory markers.

A black mercedes-benz slowly stopped fifty meters from the gate.

The car door opened.

The person who stepped out was not Shen Yan.

It was the advance project team led by Chen Guangke.

The team included legal staff, environmental Engineers, and architectural designers, all dressed in suits and carrying briefcases.

They all frowned upon seeing the scene before them.

"Who are you people?"

A minor leader under Wu Heng swaggered forward and tapped the hood of the mercedes-benz with a steel pipe.

"Don't you know this land now belongs to President Wu?"

"Get lost!"

Chen Guangke pushed up the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose; the look behind the lenses was somewhat cold.

Shen Yan had already instructed him before he came.

Someone would cause trouble.

His task wasn't to solve it, but just to complete the procedural steps.

"We are from Shenyan Group."

Chen Guangke took out a document from his briefcase.

"This is the property deed for this land, acquired through a legal judicial auction process."

"Please leave immediately, otherwise, we will report this to the police for illegal occupation of private property."

The minor leader paused for a moment, then burst into loud laughter along with the surrounding thugs.

"Call the police?"

"Hahahaha, in this part of Qi City, you talk about the law with our President Wu?"

"Are you sure you're not sleepwalking?"

Wu Heng spat out the cigar in his mouth and slowly jumped down from the bulldozer.

He walked up to Chen Guangke and sized him up.

"Shenyan Group?"

"Never heard of it."

"I don't care what kind of bullshit group you are, and I don't care how much money you spent."

"I will only tell you one thing."

He patted Chen Guangke's face with his uninjured right hand.

"In Qi City, any land that I, Wu Heng, take a fancy to, even if the Jade Emperor himself came, he would have to take the surname Wu!"

"Now, take your people and scram."

"Or today, every single one of you will be carried out."

The hundred-plus men behind him stepped forward in unison.

The steel pipes in their hands banged loudly against the ground.

A chilling aura instantly permeated the air.

The Engineers behind Chen Guangke looked somewhat pale.

They were technical personnel; where had they ever seen such a scene?

Chen Guangke, however, remained composed.

He just looked at Wu Heng calmly.

"President Wu, is that right?"

"I reiterate, this land is already the legal property of our Shenyan Group."

"Your actions have already violated the law."

"If you insist on this, you will bear the consequences."

Wu Heng's patience seemed to be exhausted.

"Consequences?"

He let out a sinister laugh.

"I'll let you see today what consequences are!"

He waved his hand fiercely.

"Smash them!"

"Smash all these broken cars!"

The hundred-plus thugs, like sharks smelling blood, instantly boiled over.

They raised their steel pipes, roared, and were about to charge forward.

Just then.

A screeching sound of brakes tore through the noisy air.

Over a dozen black Audi A6s, forming a sharp arrowhead formation, sped in from the distance.

They didn't slow down in the slightest, charging directly toward the convoy blocking the gate.

Screeech—

The leading Audis executed a beautiful drift less than half a meter away from the construction vehicles, stopping steadily.

The car doors opened in unison.
