609: Chapter 64 Interview

"Grandma! Grandma, are you alright!"

The voices of two young men came from around the corner.

They ran over quickly.

It was two identical-looking youths.

They looked quite young.

Just over twenty years old.

They were wearing washed-out white T-shirts and jeans.

Their faces were etched with anxiety and panic.

One of them immediately ran to the old lady's side to check on her condition.

The other rushed toward Shen Yan.

He glanced at the futuristic black sedan.

Then he looked at the completely undamaged front of the car.

He bent down.

And bowed deeply.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Sir!"

"It was my fault for not watching my grandmother closely; the wheelchair's motor suddenly malfunctioned."

"Is... is your car alright? However much compensation is needed, we will accept it all!"

His voice trembled.

Shen Yan remained silent.

His gaze fell upon the faces of the two youths.

Identical faces.

Delicate, yet carrying a trace of weariness unbefitting their age.

There was a resilient spirit in their brows that refused to yield.

Shen Yan found them somewhat familiar.

He searched his memory.

Not in the business world.

Where was it then?

On the news?

The System offered no hints.

This was his own memory.

The other youth, supporting the old lady, also walked over.

His face showed the same guilt and tension.

"Sir, we are truly very sorry."

"We just came out of the hospital, my grandmother, she..."

A flash of lightning crossed Shen Yan's mind.

He remembered.

It was a talent acquisition file that he had previously rejected.

The Human Resources Department of Future Technology submitted a list of special talents to him every month.

The people on the list were top geniuses in various fields.

But they hadn't been discovered for various reasons.

Just a few months ago,

He had seen a file.

A pair of twin brothers.

Lin Shen, Lin Mo.

At sixteen, they were admitted to the gifted class at Beijing University.

Majoring in Artificial Intelligence and algorithm fields.

At eighteen, their joint paper was published in a world-leading academic journal.

They were hailed as the twin stars of the future in the AI field.

But one year ago,

Their mother was diagnosed with a rare nervous system disease.

The treatment cost was an astronomical figure.

They suspended their studies.

Sold everything they owned.

It was still just a drop in the bucket.

Human Resources suggested that they be specially recruited into Future Technology's AI laboratory,

With the company covering all of their mother's medical expenses.

But Shen Yan rejected it.

His annotation was only one sentence.

The time is not right.

Now, the time was right.

Shen Yan looked at the two youths before him.

They were much thinner than in their file photos.

Their eyes held much more fatigue.

But that pride belonging to geniuses,

Was still there.

"The car is fine."

Shen Yan finally spoke.

His voice was very calm.

"And the person?"

He looked toward the old lady.

Lin Shen quickly replied,

"My grandmother is fine, just a little shaken."

"Sir, thank you so much, your driving skills..."

He didn't know how to describe it.

That wasn't driving skill.

That was the power of technology.

Shen Yan took a business card out of his pocket.

It wasn't the card of a company CEO.

But a personal card with no title,

Only a name and a phone number.

He handed it over.

"You need a job."

Shen Yan used a declarative sentence.

Not a question.

Lin Shen and Lin Mo were stunned.

They looked at the minimalist yet unusually textured business card.

Then they looked at the powerful man before them.

For a moment, they couldn't react.

Shen Yan said no more.

He turned and got back into the car.

The black phantom no. 7.

Started silently.

And smoothly drove away.

Lin Shen and Lin Mo remained standing there.

Lin Shen held the business card in his hand.

Shen Yan.

This name.

They seemed to have heard it somewhere.

"Brother, that person..."

Lin Mo spoke softly.

Lin Shen snapped back to reality.

He took out his phone.

His hands trembling as he typed the two characters "Shen Yan".

The search results popped up.

Founder and Chairman of an emerging technology company.

Actual controlling shareholder of Panshi Capital.

Owner of Shen Yan Plaza.

News photos one after another.

Shocking headlines everywhere.

Lin Shen's hand shook even more violently.

He looked up.

Toward the direction the black sedan had disappeared.

As if seeing a light piercing the darkness.

In that spot,

Only three stunned figures remained under the streetlamp.

Lin Mo's breathing was ragged; he tightly gripped his brother Lin Shen's arm, his knuckles turning white from the force.

"Brother, that car..."

His voice carried an almost imperceptible tremor.

"That emblem, it's the concept model that their company doesn't sell to the public."

"phantom no. 7."

Lin Shen did not respond.

All his attention was focused on his phone screen.

The two characters "Shen Yan" seemed to burn his retinas with some kind of magic.

Every title he held was a legend unattainable by an ordinary person in a lifetime.

Lin Mo leaned over to look at the screen and instantly gasped.

He finally connected that car, that man, and this thunderous name.

"So, that person just now..."

He didn't need to finish.

Lin Shen suddenly looked up, and a crazy, scorching flame ignited in his bloodshot eyes, strained from long nights of staying up.

He didn't look in the direction the car had vanished.

He looked at his younger brother, and at their grandmother who was still shaken beside them.

His lips moved, uttering a few words.

As light as a dream whisper,

Yet heavier than a thousand pounds.

"Mom's medical expenses."

"Might finally have hope."

At the top floor of the Future Technology Building,

Shen Yan's private phone vibrated faintly.

He stood before the massive floor-to-ceiling window, the myriad lights of the capital spread out beneath his feet like a brilliant Milky Way.

He glanced at the unfamiliar number.

And connected the call.

"Hello."

On the other end of the line came a young man's voice, trying hard to suppress his nervousness.

"May I ask... is this Mr. Shen Yan?"

"It is me."

Shen Yan's reply was calm, without the slightest ripple.

He even directly stated the other party's identity.

"Lin Shen?"

On the other end of the line, there was a brief silence caused by shock.

He knew his name.

Shen Yan gave the other party no time to organize his thoughts.

He disliked wasting time.

"Don't be nervous."

"I gave you my card for a very simple reason: to offer you a job."

"In our company's Artificial Intelligence laboratory."

No probing, no pleasantries.

It was just this direct.

Like an order, yet carrying an irresistible temptation.

The breathing on the other end of the line clearly grew heavier.

Like a drowning person finally inhaling their first breath of fresh air.

After a few seconds,

Lin Shen's voice sounded again, this time with a touch more composure.

"Mr. Shen, can we... can we talk with you in person?"
