116: Chapter 116 Unlucky Guy
"What made you think of coming here to buy a house?"
Chen Guangke was slightly impatient.
"We have the money and want to buy a house here, what's wrong with that?"
Sensing his mood, the Agent immediately smiled and said, "I'm sorry, sir. I didn't mean anything by it; I was just a little curious."
"Since you don't want to answer, I won't ask further. Let me give you a brief introduction to the housing prices and the situation around here."
"The housing prices here are around twenty thousand yuan per square meter. May I ask how large a house you two gentlemen are planning to buy?"
Shen Yan said casually, "Nothing too big, over a hundred square meters is enough. Are there any recent policies for this area?"
The Agent shook his head honestly. "Because this isn't a development zone, there aren't any policies."
"But you definitely won't lose out by buying a house here, because the prices compared to the city center and other places are as low as they can be."
The Agent was right; the housing prices here were indeed very low.
Houses in the city center have been hyped up to fifty or sixty thousand per square meter, while houses here are only ten thousand per square meter.
If it weren't for the fact that he has no plans to buy a house now, and that he knows housing prices in the East District will rise, he might have actually considered buying a place here.
"So you're saying that besides the low price, there are no other advantages to the houses here?"
Hearing this, the Agent began to grow suspicious.
"You can't say that. There are still many advantages to buying a house here; for example, most of the residential areas are quite quiet."
"By the way, may I ask where you two gentlemen work?"
Shen Yan answered, "We work in the city center."
The Agent nodded and asked again, "And what do you do?"
Chen Guangke frowned.
"Why are you so nosy? Why can't you just answer our questions honestly? Why ask so much??"
The Agent chuckled.
"Don't misunderstand, I just want to get to know you. Besides, of all the clients I've received, none have been like you, wanting to analyze the advantages of buying a house here."
Shen Yan understood what the other meant.
The other party was afraid they were competitors coming to fish for information.
"Rest assured, we aren't real estate Agents. We just want to buy a house for investment."
The Agent nodded with a smile.
He seemed to believe it, yet also seemed not to.
"Alright then, we'll be going now."
The Agent didn't try to make them stay.
"Alright, take care."
Walking out of the real estate agency, Chen Guangke complained to Shen Yan, "He really changes his face faster than flipping a page. He was passionate before taking us in, but as soon as he heard we were leaving, he became as cold as anything."
Shen Yan, however, could understand the Agent's perspective.
People who truly want to buy a house will definitely research the area they're interested in first.
People like them, who know nothing and come straight to ask an Agent, are mostly either people with no money to buy or competing companies.
"He probably took us for competitors, but it doesn't matter; we've already fished out the information we wanted."
Chen Guangke turned to look at Shen Yan.
"Do you really believe what this Agent said? I feel like his words aren't that reliable..."
Shen Yan didn't think the Agent would lie to them.
It's quite simple to find out if there are any housing policies here.
A quick search online would clear it up; there was no need for the other party to lie to them.
So he was inclined to believe that buying a house here indeed came with no special policies.
He told Chen Guangke his thoughts.
Chen Guangke thought about it and felt that Shen Yan was right.
The Agent indeed had no reason to lie to them.
"Fine, so what are you thinking now? Do you still think that He Yunri is trying to scam you?"
Shen Yan didn't know if He Yunri was scamming him; he only knew that refusing was the right choice.
"Who cares if he's scamming me? Anyway, I've already rejected him."
"Alright, it's fine now. Let's go back."
Chen Guangke's eyes widened.
"We're just going back like this?"
Shen Yan raised an eyebrow and smiled. "What? Do you want to stay here and keep window shopping?"
Chen Guangke was somewhat dissatisfied.
"We came all this way just to ask an Agent?"
"That's such a waste!"
Shen Yan smiled and patted Chen Guangke's shoulder.
"Alright, alright, how about I treat you to a meal as compensation?"
Chen Guangke nodded.
"That's more like it!"
Meanwhile, on the other side.
"Has the buzz around this matter still not died down?"
Hearing the question, the secretary shook her head.
"I've already contacted a PR firm, but for some reason, the popularity of this matter remains very high."
Chen Ling frowned and said nothing.
The public outcry over this matter was far too great.
If it were allowed to continue, she might really be kicked out of the company directly.
"Forget it, you just keep an eye on this for me for now. I'll go find someone to handle this."
After saying that, Chen Ling picked up her bag and left the office.
Taking the elevator down to the underground parking lot, she took out her car keys and pressed the unlock button.
"Beep beep!"
The sound came from not far away.
Looking up, Chen Ling discovered that her car had been splashed with paint.
"Who did this?!"
Her roar echoed throughout the parking lot.
...
Half an hour later, the police arrived.
"It's these two!"
Chen Ling pointed at the two people wearing masks and hats in the surveillance footage and said to the police.
The police squinted and took a look before saying, "No, they're wearing masks and hats; it's impossible to recognize who they are."
Chen Ling was furious.
"Then can't you go look for them?"
The police were somewhat speechless.
Was it really something you could find just by wanting to?
"It's certainly not practical to rely on us to investigate everyone one by one. Our suggestion is that you should check the company's Employees yourself."
Chen Ling was stunned.
"What do you mean by that? Are you suggesting that the paint was splashed by someone from within our company?"
That was exactly what the police meant, but they couldn't say it outright.
"Before coming in, we already asked—entering your company requires an Employee ID card."
"In other words, they must hold an Employee ID card to be able to enter the parking lot and splash the paint."
Chen Ling understood.
"So you mean you want me to investigate the company personnel myself?"
The police nodded.
"That is our suggestion."
Chen Ling rolled her eyes and said bluntly, "Even if an investigation is needed, it should be you doing it. I have so much to do every day; how could I possibly have time for this?"
"You're the police; you should fulfill your duty!"
The police also rolled their eyes to the heavens.
"We have other work too; we can't keep an eye on things for you all the time."
