354: Chapter 354 Negotiation Skills

Shen Yan laughed heartily.

"Who told him to show up at my door at this time? He willingly offered himself up as the big sucker; how could I let him off the hook?"

Chen Guangke felt this made perfect sense. He went upstairs to get one of his spare phones, had the receptionist transfer the money to it, and then pulled Shen Yan toward the door.

"Let's go! Time to buy a phone!"

— —

Gu Corporation.

"Um... excuse me, is there something you need?"

Shen Ya sat in Gu Hui's office, asking with a face full of awkwardness.

Chairman Gu smiled kindly and motioned for his secretary to place the freshly brewed tea in front of Shen Ya.

"I heard you're planning to resign?"

Hearing Chairman Gu's question, Shen Ya was completely dumbfounded.

She was just a small conference service staff member; how could her resignation warrant the Chairman's attention?

Although she couldn't figure out why Chairman Gu had specifically called her into his office after learning about her resignation, she still nodded honestly.

"Yes, I already submitted my resignation report yesterday. If nothing unexpected happens, I'll be leaving next month."

Chairman Gu adopted the demeanor of a kind grandfather and asked her, "You haven't been with the company long, why the sudden decision to resign? Is something not going smoothly?"

Shen Ya shook her head and waved her hands dismissively.

"No, it's just due to my own personal reasons."

Chairman Gu frowned.

"Since it's for personal reasons, it means this matter might not necessarily require resignation to solve. If you need time, I can grant you an extended leave."

"Whether it's half a month or a full month, as long as you wish, I can give it to you."

"Oh, and the manager should have already mentioned the plan to promote you, right?"

Shen Ya: "...He did mention it, but I'm very sorry, I have no intention of staying at this company any longer."

Chairman Gu narrowed his eyes and asked, "Then can you tell me why you don't want to continue working here?"

"Although you haven't been with our company long, I feel your work capability is excellent. You can handle a better position, and you can also..."

Before he could finish speaking, Shen Ya directly interrupted him.

"It has nothing to do with that. I just want to take some time off and properly consider my future career plans."

She wasn't falling for Chairman Gu's empty promises.

Although she didn't know what had happened between Chairman Gu and her brother, she knew there was no such thing as a free lunch.

Moreover, for the Chairman of a corporation to go to such lengths to persuade a junior conference service staff member who just started not to resign—who would believe there wasn't something fishy going on?

Thinking this, she added with a smile,

"Even though I haven't been with Gu Corporation for long, I believe Gu Corporation isn't the type of large company that would detain its Employees and prevent them from resigning, right?"

As soon as she finished speaking,

Chairman Gu laughed.

"Of course. Don't worry, as long as your resignation procedures comply with the process, we would never hold you back."

Shen Ya nodded in satisfaction.

"Good. Since we've reached an agreement, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave now."

With that, she stood up, nodded to Chairman Gu, and left the office without hesitation.

The moment she left, Chairman Gu's face darkened completely.

Ever since Shen Yan had a falling out with him in his office last time, he had been plagued by business troubles.

Just as Shen Yan had said, he desperately needed someone to help him right now.

Shen Yan was unwilling to cooperate with him, and he didn't have enough time to find someone else to assist him.

Under multiple pressures, he thought of a plan.

That was to gain cooperation from Shen Yan by winning over Shen Yan's sister.

Unexpectedly, just as he was about to act, he learned that Shen Yan's sister had submitted her resignation.

While lost in thought,

His phone suddenly rang.

The caller was an old friend.

He adjusted his mood before answering the call.

"Why are you calling out of the blue?"

Hearing the question, Mei Jinning on the other end of the line chuckled.

"Isn't it because I came to check up on your recent condition? I heard Shen Yan refused to cooperate with you?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Chairman Gu's expression darkened another shade.

He took a deep breath, making his voice sound as steady as possible.

"I think you must have played a part in this, haven't you?"

"President Mei, if I recall correctly, we two are supposed to be on the same side, right? What benefit is there for you in doing this?"

Mei Jinning loudly cried out her innocence.

"Don't wrongly accuse me. I didn't do anything. At most, I just asked that person out for a couple of meals and collaborated on one project with him."

"Just as you said, sabotaging the cooperation between you two brings me no benefit whatsoever, so don't even think about pushing the blame onto me."

How could Chairman Gu believe her nonsense? He wasn't an idiot.

"Stop with the meaningless talk. What is your objective?"

Hearing the question, Mei Jinning sighed, shook her head, and replied, "Don't speak to me in that tone. I called this time just to ask if you still plan to cooperate with Shen Yan."

Chairman Gu sensed something was off.

"What do you mean by that?"

She took the bait.

Mei Jinning curled her lips. "I have a way to make him cooperate with you, but the profit sharing we agreed upon earlier... needs to be adjusted again."

Chairman Gu was furious.

"So, after all that, you just wanted to snatch some meat from my hands?!"

Mei Jinning crossed her legs and blew on her freshly manicured nails.

"Stop joking, Chairman Gu. We aren't real friends; we are allies temporarily allied for mutual benefit. As allies, it's already good enough that I haven't kicked you out directly, don't you think?"

Chairman Gu sneered.

"You think you can kick me out? Do you have the ability?"

The smile on Mei Jinning's face vanished.

"Regardless, you need Shen Yan, and I can make Shen Yan agree to cooperate with you."

As soon as the words fell,

Chairman Gu fell silent for a few seconds. "Fine, we'll do as you say. We'll renegotiate the share. You handle Shen Yan."

Mei Jinning's smile returned.

"Great. Go talk to him again in two days, and he will agree."

She hung up the phone.

Chairman Gu rotated his phone in his hand while pondering.

Having navigated the business world for many years, his intuition had long been honed to be extremely sharp.

His intuition told him that Mei Jinning's objective was not that simple.

It was just that he genuinely needed Shen Yan to get involved right now.

If Shen Yan refused to enter the fray to help, it would be very difficult for him to retreat from this business deal unscathed.

Of course, he could also choose to give up on taking this business deal.

But the nature of a businessman is greed; he couldn't give up on such a huge profit.

Therefore, he was willing to take a gamble, choosing the unorthodox path as he often did.

He also believed that, just like before, he would rely on his experience and intuition to emerge as the final winner.
